Tuesday 4

1. Do you think the 4th is an important holiday? Why , why not?
Yes, I do think it's important.  I love our country and am proud to be an American.  I'm thankful for each one who gave their life for our freedom and never want to take that for granted.

2. How do you celebrate? If you are not American, do you celebrate your nation's national holiday?
A lot depends on the weather.  Now that our girls live in other states, hubby and I will go watch the parade in the town he grew up in, weather permitting and then we like to watch the local fireworks (our little town does this on the third).  Not sure if all of this will occur this year or now because of the Covid stuff.  I know our town plans the fireworks, not sure about the parade though.

3. In the time of Laura Ingals Wilder,  all Americans read the Declaration of Independence every year on the 4th and lemonade was a big treat for the town picnic.
I've not read the Declaration in quite a while.
Do you read the Declaration of Independence? Or, your nations important papers?
I have but not recently.
How about lemonade? Are you a fan?
Yes, I like lemonade, especially pink lemonade.

4. Picnic, eat inside the house or eat out for the 4th?
I prefer eating inside.  I do not do heat very well.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am joining in with Rebecca Jo for Thankful Thursday. You can link up here if you’d like to be thankful today too.

I’m thankful for:

** Jesus Christ and His gift of salvation and grace.
** My husband and children and their significant others and my grandchild..
** My extended family
** My home
** My church family
** My health
** My job
** My friends (in real life and the blogging world)
** My puppy
** The birds and flowers and skies and all God’s creation
** Good books to read
** Yarn to crochet with and YouTube videos to teach me how to do new stitches.

I am just so grateful for all God has blessed me with. And even though all these things have probably  been listed here before, I still am thankful for them.

I am blessed

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. This time last year where were you?
June 24, 2019 according to my pictures, I was walking around the pond behind our doctor's office.  Evidently hubby had an early morning appointment and I rode with him and took a walk.

2. In honor of National Pink Day (June 23rd) tell us your favorite pink food or beverage. Was it on the menu at your house yesterday? Do you like to wear the color pink? If we came to visit would we find this color in your home decor? Blush-fuschia-salmon-raspberry-your favorite shade of pink?
Favorite pink beverage - Pink Lemonade of course.  No, I did not have any yesterday.  Yes, I like to wear pink in any shade.  My kitchen counters are kind of a pink and gray mix.  Of what you listed, it would be fuchsia.

3. Stop and smell the roses, looking through rose colored glasses, a rose by any other name, not all moonlight and roses, no rose without a thorn...which rosy saying currently fits your life in some way? Explain.
Stop and smell the roses, because I'm trying more and more to look for things to be thankful for and to be aware of what God has done for me.

4. Are you a 'reader'? Do you tend to read lighter books in the summer months? Do you have a summer reading list? If so, give us a title or two.
I am a reader and summer or winter I love to read.  Probably in the summer I love to read books that take place around the ocean, so if you consider that lighter books, then yes I guess i do.  I do not have a summer reading list, I just read whatever I run across that sounds good.

5. Share with us one rose and one thorn from your weekend.
I got to visit with my sister this weekend is the rose and the thorn is that they are mostly still on lockdown and she can't go out at all.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Started and online Summer Bible Study with Kelly Minter on Nehemiah this week.

My Weekend

We had a really nice weekend.  Friday evening we were home, which I love.  Grabbed a picture of this little bird through the window screen in my kitchen.  He was clear across the back yard.  I seldom use a camera (except my phone), but I kinda like this, so I'll probably be using the camera a little more often now.

Saturday morning all three of us sisters got to have a visit at the Assisted Living Home our youngest sister lives in.  This is the first time we've all been together since the last of February.  We sat out in the lovely gazebo they have and enjoyed a good chat.  I took one picture but promised I would not put it on social media (they do not like their picture taken, plus we all had on masks) but at least I have it for me.

After that hubby and I went out to lunch and ran some errands and then had the whole evening at home where I did a lot of laundry and watched some TV.

Sunday we had live church again and I so love being with everyone again.  Then we picked up some chicken and went and had lunch with his mama.  Such a nice afternoon.  Hubby got to talk to both girls and also the grandson.  Perfect!

So that was my weekend.  Some running around and some visiting and some relaxing at home.  This is just the way I like it.

So how was your weekend?

Thankful Thursday

Click above to join in with Rebecca Jo for Thankful Thursday.

This week I am thankful for (not in any particular order)

**Time with hubby on Saturday to drive the countryside and just enjoy our beautiful state.

**To actually be back at church for the morning service.  It was so good to really see everyone that came again.

**This puppy has a grooming appointment Saturday.  I can barely see her eyes right now.

**Video chats with my grandson and daughter and Marco Polo Chats with my oldest daughter.  So thankful for technology.

**That we found out pretty quickly that another plumbing problem, is just our water softener and we have an appointment to have it replaced on Monday.  Kinda scary in the middle of washing your hair and the water slows to a trickle and then comes out brown.  lol

**Thankful for the face mask that I bought from Rebecca Jo...I had to wear it for the first time at work today.  It is much more comfortable and cute than the ones work provided.  I mean if you gotta wear one, it's nice to have a cute Disney one.  Thanks Rebecca.

**I'm thankful for continued good health and for all of you who visit here.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's something you could do today to feel more peaceful?
I did it Tuesday.  I took a personal day and stayed home from work.  We had some plumbing problems and had to wait on a plumber, so I just took the day off.  I did some housework and did some stuff on the computer and relaxed and watched a movie and took the dog on some walks and it was just peaceful.

2. June 2nd is National Rotisserie Chicken day. Who knew? Are you a fan of rotisserie chicken? You've purchased one at your local market for tonite's dinner. Will you serve as is or make something else using the chicken?
I do like Rotisserie Chicken, but I did not know it had it's own day.  lol.  If I bought one, I'd serve it as is with some vegetables.

3. I read a list recently (go here to read more) of 20 of the most beautiful places in America. How many of these have you seen up close and in person? Of the sites on this list that you haven't seen, which would you most like to see?
Antelope Canyon Arizona, Kenai Fjords Alaska, White Mountains New Hampshire, Crater Lake Oregon, The Palouse Washington and Idaho, Grand Prismatic Spring Wyoming, Multnomah Falls and Columbia River Gorge Oregon, Horsehoe Bend Arizona, Na Pali Coast Kauai Hawaii, Antelope Valley California, Lake Tahoe California, The Berkshires Massachussets, Maroon Bells Colorado, Angel Oak South Carolina, Acadia National Park Maine, Grand Teton National Park Wyoming, Turnip Rock Michigan, Central Park New York City, Niagara Falls New York, and Skagit Valley Tulip Fields Washington
I have not been to any of these places.and I don't know enough about any of them to pick.  But I'd probably enjoy most any of them.
4. What's one pretty spot you'd add to the list in question #3? Are there travel plans of any kind on your calendar right now? Does that make you happy, anxious, excited, sad, or relieved?
I'd like to see the Grand Canyon!  My plans are to go back to Myrtle Beach in November, Lord willing.

5. Tell us one un-COVID related thing you're looking forward to in the month of June.
Going back to church this Sunday.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Today, June 3rd would have been my dad's 92nd birthday, and my mom's 87th birthday and their 70th wedding anniversary.  Happy Birthday and Anniversary mom and dad!  I miss you and love you.

12 - Tuesday.  Work and then hubby made chili for supper and I worked on the puzzle I started over the weekend which still isn't finished.

19 - Tuesday.  Stayed home from work as I didn't get much sleep the night before after finding out that one of the ladies from out Bible Study passed away on Sunday (she was the sweetest and we all loved her and will miss her) and while home I rested, read and finished my jigsaw puzzle.

20 - Wednesday.  Went to church after work so hubby could record his live Bible Study on Paul/Saul and of course, I checked on Mama Duck.

21 - Thursday.  Went to the graveside service of our friend from Bible Study and thankfully, God held off the rain until I was on the way back to work.
