If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Thankful Thursday

Things I am thankful for today and they are in no particular order:

***Another morning shopping with my sisters.

***Getting both the organ and the piano tuned and repaired at church and I can't wait until Sunday to get to play them together.  Plus I'm also thankful that my cousin has started attending our church and she plays the organ and piano.  She has already been such an asset and getting the organ repaired will make it even better.  We haven't had anyone to play the organ in probably at least 15 years.  Thus, the excitement for Sunday.

***I received another order for a hat and have completed it...I'm so happy to have this little side business and to see it starting up again some.

***My youngest daughter and her boyfriend got engaged over the weekend.  I am so happy for them.  Plans are for a summer 2023 wedding.

Kerri and Matt

Life is good, but even better than that, God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good!!  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. January 25th is National Opposites Day. 'They' say opposites attract...do you agree, and if so is that a good thing? Or do you subscribe more to a 'birds of a feather' philosophy? I would have to say both can be true, it all depends on the people involved.

2. Something you're glad to have behind you? Forty-five years of employment (although I'm very thankful for those years and that job). Something you're glad is ahead of you? Hopefully, many years of retirement.

3. Your favorite hot food? I'm not sure I have a favorite as I love so many.  Maybe dumplings or many different soups.  Cold food? Same as above with hot food, but maybe ice cream.  Are you a fan of breakfast for dinner?  Yes, I love breakfast for dinner, but unfortunately, hubby does not.

4. Are you someone who always arrives to appointments/events early or do you tend to run late? Since I've been married, we're typically early thanks to hubby.  Last thing you were late for? I think I was late for work one morning in my last week (no problem though, because I just stayed over the amount of time I was late.  lol

5. "What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness?" John Steinbeck....Your thoughts? I think it's true!

6. Insert your own random thought here. Here's a quote from Buddy LaRosa (founder of LaRosa's Pizza - a local chain) that I really like.  "Good, better, best...never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best!"

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Tuesday 4

Music Music Music!

Welcome friends!  Good to see you back for another Tuesday 4 where we keep Toni Taddeo's weekly blog post alive.  I hope you are enjoying them.  This week let's talk about music and entertainment shall we?  Link up here.

1. What kind of music do you like the best?  Southern Gospel.

2. Does the radio play in your car and if so what station or kind of music plays? Since I've retired, I'm doing more driving and if I'm by myself then yes, the music does play and it's a local channel for contemporary christian music. Does music play in your home often? Music at home is usually only if I'm home alone and I typically go to YouTube and find some Southern Gospel music, such as the Gaither's Homecoming Music or the Collingsworth Family.

3. What do you think of the music played in restaurants or stores? Do you find it relaxing or annoying? It depends on what type of music, although I can enjoy most kinds of music (although I'm not much of a fan for hard rock) as long as it is not turned up too loud.  I feel some restaurants blast the music so loud that you can't even hardly talk with the ones at your table.

4. What part has music played in your life? What kind of music played at your wedding or at parties you have been to?  My parents, along with mom's dad & sister sang in a southern gospel quartet at church and also traveled to other churches some as I was growing up.  Then in my early 20's I sang in a quartet with my brother and 2 of my cousins.  Totally loved doing that.  I've also been the pianist at our church for the past 25 years. Then when I met my husband he was the music minister and choir director of our church and then after marriage we went to another church where he was music minister and youth minister. So music has always had a pretty big part in my life.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Thankful Thursday

Things I am thankful for this week, in no particular order.

**my church family...we had such a good service Sunday and just enjoyed being with everyone and then last nights Bible Study was really interesting and again just such a good time being together and discussing God's word.

**retirement...although I must say, everyone was right.  How in the world did I have time to go to work for 8 hours a day.  I have barely been home during the day, except last Thursday we stayed home and that was really wonderful.  I'm starting to get a few things accomplished and that feels really good.  I'm really not on a schedule but trying to get at least one thing done a day towards my goals.

**church...I've been working on the nursery at church.  We haven't had any littles in quite awhile, so the nursery has gone downhill a little.  I've got a dollhouse at home that I'm going to donate.  My dad made it and it's pretty indestructible and I plan to get some new furniture and a little doll family for it.  I'm excited to get it out of my house (since my girls are now 27 and 30, I think it's time) and maybe I'm stepping out in faith that we'll get some children again here.

**church...I'm also working on making myself a little office at church.  I'm trying to come in one day a week and help hubby with some clerical stuff and some other things I want to do.  This room really hasn't been used for anything since my daughter used it to do her home school stuff when she came to work with her dad.  So I'm cleaning it up and taking over her office.  lol

**freedom...It's nice to have free time that I can be with others.  Last week my mother-in-law had eye surgery and I was free to go with hubby to take her for the surgery and then the next day I took her to her 24 hour check-up.  I never could have done that before as I would have been at work.  It was so nice to have that extra time with her.  And then yesterday, we took my sister to an eye appointment as she was having some pain and redness in her eye and I'm thankful to have been able to go along for that.

**great nephew...He is home!!  And I got to go see him last Friday, which was totally awesome.  He is absolutely adorable and doing well.  Thanks for all your prayers.

**Chronological Bible...still enjoying this so much.

I'm just so thankful for all of God's blessings, big and small.  So what are you thankful for this week?

I'm also thankful for you coming to visit and I hope you have a blessed day.

Currently...

Currently I am...

Reading:  The Red Glove Collection by Karen Kingsbury.  I'm on Novella #4, Hannah's Hope.  Very good series and I definitely recommend it.

Listening to: Quiet at the moment, except the dog keeps barking on and off.  She's watching out the window and has to bark at everything that moves.

Loving: Being retired.

Thinking: I need to get up and get the laundry started and some other house work too.

Feeling: Blessed beyond all measure.

Celebrating:  Waking up to a new day!

Grateful for: My hubby...it's really strange for me to be home and he's at work.

Weather:  19 degrees but feels like 9 according to my weather app.

Enjoying:  Having time to read and to make some scarves and hats.  Planning to start a navy blue set today.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for:

***not having to go anywhere unless I choose to as it is so very cold out.

***already enjoying having more time to blog.

***a really good Bible Study last night on the last day.  One important thing was noted that we should not wait until then to make a decision for Christ, as we may not make it until the last day, we may die today!  Now is definitely the time to choose Jesus.

***started on Tuesday reading the Bible in a year chronologically.  This will be my second time doing this.

***YouVersion Bible App - it makes doing this reading plan so very easy.

***my husband being home with me today and tomorrow.  He's planning to try to be off on Thursday and Friday whenever possible so we can have more time together.

This is just a small list, but I am thankful for each of these and so much more.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

30 - Thursday.  Such a wonderful retirement luncheon...so many former employees and current employees came to wish me well...I could have asked for nothing better.

31 - Friday.  While this is officially the last day of work I took a holiday and running around and celebrating with hubby and then home for a quiet evening and I finished reading(actually I finished it after midnight, but I'm still counting it as the 31st) Divine Interruption by Dr. Tony Evans and his family...very, very good!

So this was my December, one day at a time.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Retired

This my first actual day of retirement on a day that I typically would have worked. I believe I’m going to love it. However, I do think it’s going to take some time to adjust to it all.

This bag is a gift from a former co-worker who came to my retirement luncheon.  It makes me laugh every time I see it and I plan to use it a lot.  It's perfect for my yarn projects that I take out with me.

I'm not sure what all I'll be doing while retired.  But I've decided to come to the church one day a week and help my hubby with clerical work and whatever else I think of to get into.  I'm sure I'll be posting here about whatever is going on in this "new" life.

God has blessed me with a good job for many years and now I hope to be blessed with many years of healthy retirement.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.
