If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Thankful Thursday and Friday Photos Together

Click here for link to Thankful Thursday

I'm writing this Thursday night while hubby and I are watching TV.  My birthday was today and I'm so thankful to be alive to enjoy my 65th.  We've had a really good day.  First of all, I didn't sleep much last night.  I finished a book around 4:30am and finally went to sleep and then got up at 8:30 and started the day.  Hubby took me to Olive Garden for lunch and then I ran in the grocery and picked up a few items we needed and then we headed home.  We both took a nap, which helped some with the lack of sleep last night.

So Wednesday I ordered my own Birthday present.  I bought a new Kindle.  I've had my old Kindle for about 5 years or so and the battery would no longer hold a charge.  So I picked up the newer PaperWhite Generation 11.  Actually I ordered it on Amazon around 3 or 3:30 and it was delivered to my front door while I was at church around 7:45pm.  So that may explain a little why I was up so late reading.  I was trying out the new Kindle and I Love It!!  So today I ordered a cover for it and it should be here tomorrow.  I had an Amazon gift card from my retirement that I hadn't used yet, so I put that towards the purchase.  I'm so thankful my husband understands my love of reading and how much I love the Kindle because I have so many books at my fingertips anytime and they are never heavy.  I find the older I get, the less I'm comfortable I am holding a regular book.  My grandmother used to say that it was hard for her to hold a book and now I understand.  My grandmother (mom's mom) was an avid reader and so was my mom, now my sister and I are and my oldest daughter is too.  This is one trait I'm so glad to see passing down through the generations.

Loving the little bit larger screen
and big print is a life saver.

Earlier in the week I got a couple short videos of the hummingbirds at our feeder.  And they were back again tonight (actually most any evening I take the time to sit out there, I get some wonderful views of them).

It's been raining here this evening and I have the blinds drawn but I noticed the colors outside were changing.  I went out to check and I found a beautiful rainbow.  Thank you God for all the beauty you have created for us. Here are a couple pictures.

Beautiful sky and then I saw the rainbow behind me.

So there are some photos from my week and things I am so thankful for too.  God is so good and I am so blessed.

Thank you for visiting.

"Tell a Fairy Tale Day" Virtual 5K

On Saturday morning early, I went out and walked a Virtual 5K in my neighborhood.  I earned this medal for the effort.  I haven't been walking as much this summer, but this I think is helping me to get back on track.  I have another one to do this month.  It's the 2020 Pumpkin Run and usually is done in this area at a place called Bonnie Brook Farm.  But due to Covid, it's a Virtual Race this year too.  For me it is a walk, as I'm not really concerned with the pace, but just want to complete the race.  Although, honestly, I guess I do hope to improve my time some.

Part of the reason my time is a little longer is because I keep stopping and taking pictures throughout my walk.  It was a beautiful morning and we're starting to get some leaves changing colors.  Here are a couple pictures I took.

This is the only one from my yard.

Wednesday Medley

Click here if you'd like to link up with Wednesday Medley.  And thank you Terri for the questions.

1.  On November 28th, 1995, President Bill Clinton ended the 55 MPH nationwide speed limit that began in 1974 as an energy saving measure during the Mid-East oil embargo.  If you are old enough to remember this (I sure am) did it make you happy?  Do you have a heavy foot when driving or does 55 MPH sound good to you?
I remember and yes I’m glad the speed limit was raised.

2.  You are home alone on a rainy/snowy Sunday afternoon.  What Christmas movie will you watch?
Miracle on 34th Street

3.  What is something you have tried that you will never try again?
I tasted 2 sips of champagne one time and I will never do that again. It was awful!

4.  Today is National French Toast Day!!  Will you have some?  Do you like French Toast?
No I don’t think I’ll be having French toast today. Yes, I do like it but I typically save it for vacation.

5.  The Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center will be lighted today, as will the one at the White House in Washington, D.C.  Do you have your tree up and is it lighted?  Have you ever been in New York City or Washington, D.C. to see the trees all lit up during the holidays?
My tree is up and is lit but is not decorated yet. No I’ve never been to New York or Washington D.C. for the holidays. But I would love to some day..

6.  Tell us something random about this week of yours.
I did a virtually 5K last Friday and earned this.

That’s my 2nd 5K this year and I still have one more to do in December.

Thanks for visiting.

The Great Pumpkin Run

I did it!!  I completed the 5K Great Pumpkin Run.  It was not pretty, but I finished it and in spite of the horrible, awful, terrible time, I'm still proud of myself.  Because when I hit the proverbial wall in the 2nd mile, I wasn't sure I could complete it, but with the encouragement of my cousin, I made it.  She stayed by me the whole time, even though she normally runs these things.  She was awesome and I'm so thankful she's my family.  Her sister was awesome too and waited for us at the end until I came dragging in.  lol

You know, that's how we should be in our Christian walk.  We should come up along those who are struggling on the road and help them out and encourage them to keep on walking.  If we do that, we'll all make it across that finish line.  It may not be pretty getting there, but we'll make it together and with Jesus.  I've posted a few pictures from that day.

My two beautiful cousins!

Selfies as we were lining up

Selfie fun before the race

It's getting closer to time

Here we are finally at the starting line.

Because of all the rain Friday night and Saturday morning, I was covered in mud when it was all over.  Most everyone was!

My medal!

Hubby rewarded me later with a wonderful hot chocolate from Starbucks.  I think I finally got warm after drinking this.
So that was my adventure for the weekend.  How was your weekend?
