Thankful Thursday

It's Thursday and time to be deliberately thankful.  Click here if you'd like to join in too.  Thank you Rebecca for keeping this going each week.  I'm very thankful for you too.

Here are some things I am thankful for today:

**My husband who brings me breakfast to work everyday so I can have a few extra minutes at home to sleep in.  This is just one of the many ways in which he is so good to me.  Love that man and I'm thankful for him everyday.

**Christmas with my girls.  Now why we couldn't be together in person, we did get together to open presents on in the wonderful world of video chatting.  I so love being able to see and talk to them live.  It's the next best thing to being there.  Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on how you look at it) I was so involved in what we were doing and talking, I forgot to snap any pictures of the video.  But I just cherish the memories of "being with them".

**Christmas with my brother, sisters, spouses and nephew & girlfriend.  We  all went to my sister's house on Christmas Eve Day.  Hubby made chili and we had delicious desserts and just a great time talking and being together.  Again, I didn't get any pictures.  But I have those wonderful pictures in my mind of being with each other.

**Christmas with my husband's family.  We had a blast talking and eating and just being together.  I did get a couple group shots of this gathering.  Not because of me because I forgot, but my sister-in-law remembered.

**My Grandson who makes me laugh all the time.  My daughter sent me this picture of him on Christmas Day.  I love it so much.

He sure loves his bananas!
**Jesus Christ - and last but definitely not least, I am so thankful that Jesus came to earth and lived and died for me and through Him I have salvation.

So what are you thankful for this week?

Wednesday Medley

Click here if you'd like to join in.

1.  Are there candy canes left in your house right now?  Did you hang some on your tree?  Do you even like them?No there are no candy canes in our house and we did not hang any on our tree (this year, but we have in the past) and I really don't like the taste.

2.  Without a graphic, today is also National Thank You Note Day!  I like receiving that thank you note in the mail for a gift I have given.  Are you good about getting thank you notes in the mail after Christmas (or any occasion calling for a note)? Honestly, I'm not very good that this, but I wish I were.

3.  How are you feeling on this day after Christmas?  Tired, let down, still glowing?  I have felt all of those at one time or another and sometimes all of them at once! Tell us about it. I have to go back to work today and I'm tired, but I don't feel let down.  We had a good Christmas and I enjoyed it, but I think maybe I could have used a day of rest before going back to work.  lol

4  It is "tradition" to leave the tree and decorations up until after January 6th, to honor the Epiphany. When will your boxes be packed and put away until next year?  Are you, like me, thinking about doing it right now?Probably after New Years Day, but I'm not sure it will make it until the 6th.

5. Looking ahead to New Year's Eve, do you have plans?  Have you ever celebrated big in New York's Time Square? Would you even want to be there? We do not have plans for New Year's Eve this year except I hope to stay home and read and watch a movie and crochet and just relax with my husband.  I have to work that day, so we may go grab an early supper after work.  No, I have not celebrated in New York's Time Square and at this point in my life I don't think I'd want to.  I do enjoy watching the ball drop on TV though.

6. Tell us something random about your week so far! I loved being able to video chat with both of our girls as we opened presents yesterday morning.  While we couldn't be together we had so much fun doing it this way.  I am so thankful for this technology.  It makes it so much easier being away from our girls.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I hope you have a blessed New Years too.

Wednesday Medley

1.  Wednesday, December 19, 2018, is National Hard Candy Day! So the first question today is to ask if you enjoy hard candy, especially the kind we usually see during this festive time of year?  What is your favorite?  Which hard candy brings up the best memories for you if any?
Hard candy is okay, but definitely not a favorite. Butterscotch or lemon drops.  Lemon drops bring up best memories as my mom in her last 10-15 years almost always carried them in her purse and shared them with her granddaughters at church.  They loved it and me too.

2.  Holiday shopping!  Are you finished? If you could spend an entire day in just one store, which one would it be and why?
I'm finished but still waiting on a couple packages to arrive.  I'm not much of a shopper, but it would either be a book store (which I love) or a craft shop like Hobby Lobby.  Why? because I love yarn and I love books.

3.  What holiday dessert describes you and why?
I don't necessarily know of a holiday dessert that describes me.  I'm not even sure what that means.  lol  But I guess you could say they are all sweet and I'd like to think I'm sweet, but probably not as sweet as I'd like.  lol

4.  What is your least favorite holiday side dish?
The side dishes are probably my favorite.  But I guess the least favorite would be cranberries.

5.  Now be real!! There is one on almost every tree. What is the ugliest tree ornament you have ever seen?
I googled to find one and I think this could fill the bill.

6.  Tell us something random about your week!!
We're going back out this Friday evening to look at Christmas lights in the area.  Hubby and I and his parents love doing this.

Thankful Thursday and Friday Foto Friends

I know I'm a day late, but I didn't want to totally skip Thankful Thursday.  This week I am so thankful for this quote my husband share with us at church.  I just keep thinking and thinking about it.  I am so thankful for what Jesus did for me and sometimes when doubts step in, I think this will help me put things back into perspective. It's not about what I've done, it's all about what He has done.  I hope it will help you also.

There was no link up yesterday for Thankful Thursday as Rebecca was having surgery.  Please keep her in your prayers that she will recover quickly and completely and that this will be the last time she has to do this.  You can read her prayer request here.

Now, here are a few of my photos from this week.  You can click here to join in with Friday Foto Friends.  You will meet the nicest people there.

I believe Lucy thinks it's time to put down the crochet and pet her.

I love this tree in front of my work.  It's pretty in every season.  They had to cut off a branch or two a year ago, so the shape is not as pretty as it was, but it seems to be growing out of it.

Thanks for visiting.

A Disney Wednesday Medley

1. On December 5, 1901, Walt Disney was born. Have you been to Disneyland or Disney World? Can you share a favorite Disney memory?
I have been to Disney World multiple times.  The very first time was the year it opened and there was only the Contemporary Hotel and Magic Kingdom and you had to have tickets for the rides.

All my memories from Disney are special.  But one of the favorites was the first time we stayed on property with the girls for 10 days.  It was such an awesome trip and I think hubby and I have made true Disney fanatics out of our girls too.

Loved it then and still love it today.

2. The first roller coaster attraction at Walt Disney World was Space Mountain. Do you/did you like roller coasters?
I do like some roller coasters, however I've never really cared for Space Mountain and I really don't know why.  Maybe because it's dark.  I don't know.  However, we were riding the people mover one day and there is a window that you can see into space mountain and the lights were on inside.  It was rather cool to get a glimpse of the actual coaster.

3. The very first fairy tale that Walt Disney made a cartoon about was Little Red Riding Hood. Did you enjoy fairy tales when you were a youngster or did they scare you? Did you have a favorite?
Yes, I liked fairy tales and I still do.  Probably Beauty and the Beast would be a favorite.

4. In Lady & the Tramp, Tramp’s real name was Butch! Do you have nicknames for your fur-babies and/or for your children?
I did not know this information.  My dog's name is Lucy, but I call her all kinds of names and my grandson is Colton, but I have a tendency to call him Buddy and his mommy calls him monkey.  He's 2 years old and mommy asked him his name the other day and he said Monkey...I suggested to mommy that she might want to start calling him by his real name.  lol

5. I can’t let this day go by without respecting George H.W. Bush, as he lays in state in the Rotunda of our Capital today. He was our 41st President and only the second father to have a son follow him as President of the United States. President Bush loved his colorful socks. I bought Joe a pair of George H.W. Bush socks for Christmas one year. I know Myra has a pair… any other bloggers checking in today who have a pair of the Presidential socks in a drawer at home? How do you feel about colorful socks?
These are the socks (and tie) President Bush will be buried in.

These are like the ones I gave to Joe. He does wear them,
by the way!

I do like colorful socks and below are the ones I'm wearing today.

6. Please tell us something random about your week!
Last Friday evening we went with hubby's parents to a nearby church that was doing a Bethlehem Village.  It was so awesome and we totally enjoyed it.  Here's a link to their website if you are interested.
This Friday we are planning to go to the "Nights of Lights in Cincinnati.  Here's a link to their website.  We love going out and seeing light displays this time of year.
