Thankful Thursday

Last Friday evening we got warnings on our phones that we were in the middle of a tornado warning.  It looked a little dark but really we hadn't noticed anything at all.  I went out front and sat on the porch for a few minutes and could hear the thunder rumbling, but still pretty far away.  However, our town was sounding the warnings and I knew it was time to get back in. Hubby was checking the weather and we decided we should probably get in a safe area (after I had called my sister and made sure they knew what was going on - which they did and were already hunkered down).  We headed into our laundry room which is a center room with no windows and sat in that tiny space with Lucy and talked.

I'm so thankful God protected us and there was no real problem in our local area, although I've been told there were damages in other areas.

I'm thankful for the time I've been reading and enjoying it again.  Sunday night I woke up after about an hour or so of sleep and my mind started racing about all the decisions we need to make about our future. Of course, this means I couldn't sleep.  I tried to stop thinking and did some praying and then I picked up my Kindle and started reading to see if that would help.  As I read, the lady was afraid about some things and she read her Bible and they quoted this verse, "Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You." Psalm 56:3.  I love that God even speaks to me through a fiction book I'm reading.  It was still awhile before I slept, but there was no more worry and fretting.  God is so good and I know He has a plan and He'll let me know what I need to know, when I need to know it.

So, what are you thankful for this week?

Thanks for visiting.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What's something that reminds you of your grandmother? Church and sewing. Tell us why. Grandma was all about Jesus and she rarely ever missed a church service.  Also grandma was a seamstress and had a sewing room set up in her house.  She sewed for the local dry cleaners making repairs for people and she always fitted all the band uniforms for the school.  If we would visit during the daytime she had a rocking chair with a leather covered pillow that we sat in to talk with her while she sewed  I now have that chair in my house and it always reminds me of her.

That's grandma's chair in a photo I took probably 10-15 years ago at least.

2. Is your life currently more 'moonlight and roses' or a little more 'every rose has it's thorn'? Elaborate. I’m a fairly positive type person, so I guess I’d say moonlight and roses.

3. June 23rd is National Pink Day...favorite thing you own in any shade of pink? I don’t really own much pink even though I really do like the color. Favorite thing found in nature in any shade of pink?  Pink skies. Your favorite pink food or beverage? Pink lemonade. Your favorite shade of pink? Either hot pink or a really pale pink.

4. Last thing that had you 'tickled pink'? See #6.  That saying tickles me.

5. What are two or three words that describe your style?  Relaxed and casual.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Tuesday 4 - Questions

Tuesday 4 - You can click on Tuesday 4 if you would like to participate.

Questions....

Welcome to Tuesday 4 in honor of Toni Taddeo...

1. Do you have a favorite movie to recommend?  I love lots of movies, but probably one of my favorites is "Apollo 13."

2. Do you have a schedule for your day or do you wing it?  Definitely wing it.  I mean I have to work everyday, but in my job I learned a long time ago, whatever you have planned to do will probably have to take 2nd place to whatever it is you end up having to do.  And I find that kind of happens at home too.

3. What are you  eating/cooking  lately? Just the typical summer fare.  Brats, Mets, Hamburgers.  In other words things that can be grilled and made without much fuss and is a little lighter than making winter type food.  Also doing a lot of fruit and some veggies too.

4.  Do you surf on your computer? Tell us about it, won't you?  Not a lot of surfing unless there's something I'm really looking for.  I more often stay in apps such as some games and Instagram and FaceBook.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

"This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24 NKJV

Sometimes you just have to choose to rejoice and be glad.  We got word this morning that another cousin has passed away.  That's 4 cousins or their spouses that have passed away  in the last few weeks.  Instead of being angry, I choose to trust that God knows what He is doing.  As far as I know, they all knew the Lord and are with him now, reunited with other family members.  We lost another great friend earlier this week too and He is also in heaven.

It seems to me that heaven is getting sweeter and sweeter all the time.  I'm looking forward to the day when I can join that big family reunion.  Don't get me wrong, I don't want to go right now as I still have things to accomplish here.  But won't that be a sweet time when it comes.

Thank you Lord for your blessings on me.  If you don't have the assurance that you will be there, here is the scripture that tells you how to become His child.

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

And this is the reason why.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Thankful Thursday

Today I am remembering my mom and dad and I am very thankful for them and the life they gave me.  They taught me to love Jesus and I thank them for that most of all.

Today is both mom and dad's birthday and their anniversary.  Dad would have been 93 today and mom would have been 88 and they would have been married 71 years.  I miss them so much and would love to see them and talk with them again, but would never ask for them to come back.  No way would I want them to leave heaven for even a minute.  So instead I will wait until I get called home and will get to spend all eternity with them.

Happy Birthday and Anniversary in Heaven, Dad and Mom.  I love you!

This is the whole family in 1969

So what are you thankful for today?

Thanks for visiting.
