If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Friday Fragments and Friday Four Fill-In Fun

Half-Past Kissin' Time

It's time for Friday Fragments.

*With so many health issues going on in my family right now, I haven't taken much time for blogging.  I do still try to read some blogs most days, but I don't have to much to write about.  I think that's why I like Friday Fragments so much.  I can just give you little snippets of things.

*I've been crafting some in the evenings again.  I made the cutest little orange baby hat, I'm going to try to put a little green stem or something on the top and make it into a little pumpkin hat.  Watch for it in my Etsy Shop real soon (see my right sidebar).

*Now, I'm working on a multi-colored scarf.  I learned how to make this scarf on a knitting loom from a video on YouTube and I just happened to already have this yarn.  Let me tell you, I really like it and can't wait to get it finished.

*Speaking of YouTube...do you like it as much as I do?  I love being able to find out how to do just about anything by watching one of the videos there.  I cannot tell you all the things I've learned from those videos.

*Hubby and I have been watching some TV this week.  We've checked a couple of the new shows.  I think I'm gonna like NCIS New Orleans, Scorpion and Madame Secretary and, of course, Survivor.  Having some decent things on TV again is really helping with my crafting projects too.  Nothing better than doing some crafting while watching TV and relaxing with my hubby and my puppy!  haha

*I've been seeing this Friday Fill-Ins on my friend's blog (http://retired-not-tired.blogspot.com/) for a long time and I've enjoyed reading her answers and getting to know her more. So, this Friday, I decided to play along.

Feeling Beachie

The statements:

I __ when I ___
___ are my ___ fruit
___ is my favorite part of summer
_____ helps me relax

My Answers:

I love it when I complete a new crafting project.
Watermelon and Bananas are my most favorite fruit.
Bright blue skies and big fluffy while clouds are my favorite part of summer.
Watching TV, crafting, and taking a good nap helps me relax.

That's all for me today.  Why not join in with both of these memes?

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for the Wednesday Hodgepodge again.  Thanks Joyce!

1. It's fall. Y'all. My favorite season of the year! What's something you love to do this time of year that makes you feel it's officially fall? And unrelated to that, do you ever say-'y'all'?
Eat chili made by my hubby and wear a hooded sweatshirt. And yes, I use the word Y'all.  I love to use it and I love to hear it used.  See, I think I'm really a southern girl at heart.

2. When did you last have a falling out with someone? Has it been resolved?
Won't share here, but I think all is resolved.

 3. A song you love with the word 'fall' in it's title?
"I Fall to Pieces", by Patsy Cline.  See I told you I'm a southern girl at heart, or maybe I'm just a hillbilly.  lol

4. What's something you've recently let 'fall by the wayside?'
My blog.  Just too much going on in life right now to keep up all the time.  I try to read some most days, but if it weren't for the Hodgepodge, I'm afraid, there wouldn't be much activity here.

5. When did you last attend an event, read a book, watch a movie, try a new recipe, or visit a shop-town-tourist attraction that fell short of your expectations? In what way?
Kelli and I went to see Disney's Planes 2 while it was out in the theater this summer.  I have to say, I was a little disappointed in it.  It wasn't horrible, but it was not near as good as the first Planes or the 2 Cars movies.

6. Describe a time you said or thought, 'The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
That could be said about our oldest daughter, even though she's adopted.  She is so much like her daddy, it's almost scary.  I love it!

7. Was today better than yesterday? Why or why not?
So far, I would say yes.  Although neither day was too bad.  Actually they have both been pretty good.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
We found out when mom was in the hospital this last time, that she has colon cancer.  We go tomorrow (Wednesday, as I'm answering these on Tuesday afternoon) to see an oncologist.  Continued prayers would be appreciated.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time again for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  I'm so glad Joyce does this every week.  It helps me to at least keep my foot in the door of the blogging world.  So thank you, Joyce.

If you would like to play along, please just use the Hodgepodge Button and have some fun.  But I hope you'll read my answers and comment here first.

1. I'm (Joyce) celebrating a birthday this week so a question relating to aging feels appropriate. Douglas MacArthur is quoted as saying, 'You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair." Would you agree? If not why not?
I've never heard this saying, but it sounds pretty accurate to me. Fear, doubt, and despair can make you feel pretty old.

2. What remarkable feat, interesting piece of trivia, or historical event occurred on your birth day and month? Not necessarily in your birthyear, just the same date/same month.
August 4th 1892 - Lizzie Borden was arrested, 1956-Elvis Presley released the song "Hound Dog", 1900-The Queen Mother was born, and 1901-Louis Armstrong was born.

3. Describe a time or circumstance where you wanted to 'have your cake and eat it too.'
Don't we pretty much always "want" that, but we have to realize that it's usually not possible.

4. What's something you do that makes you feel young? Something that makes you feel old?
Doing something athletic makes me feel old, because I realize I can't do what I used to do.  Going to Disney World makes me feel young, because I am so carefree there and don't mind acting like a kid no matter what anyone else may think.

5. When did you last do something that was 'a piece of cake'?
Can't think of anything specific.  Maybe one of my crafts?

6. Beef, wine, and cheese all improve with age. What's something else you'd add to that list? (not necessarily food or beverage)
Hopefully, the older I get, I'm improving with age.  Maybe not in physical abilities, but in spiritual and emotional ways.

7. If I were to have a giveaway when we hit Volume 200, what should I give away? By my calculations we'll hit Volume 200 on November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving, which means whoever wins would have whatever it is in time for Christmas.
How about some kind of a Christmas ornament or decoration?

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

It's that time again. In fact, I'm running rather late. Here are a few fragments of my week. Click above to get the rules and then click her home button to get to this week's posts. Hope you'll play with us.

Miss Lucy was groomed.  Let me tell you, she really needed it.  She was full of little knots.  I am just not good with keeping up with a long haired dog at the best of times and this past month has been rather a nightmare.  So needless to say, this haircut is much better for us all right now.

It looks like my mom may be facing 2 more surgeries.  We're not sure yet.  They still have a few more tests to run first.  But she seems to be feeling pretty good and is in pretty good spirits.  Thank you so much for all your prayers.  I know God is answering and moving.

My baby turns 20 tomorrow.  I can't even believe it!  Where in the world has all the time gone.  We're taking her and Charlie to lunch and then going to the Aquarium.  We got them an Annual Pass for Christmas and this is the first time all 4 of us can go together.  So looking forward to it, plus it's down on the river and the weather is going to be so nice!.  I'll try to post some pics on Monday.

That's about all I have right now.  Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Thank you Joyce for providing us with these questions every week.  Click the button if you'd like to play along with us.  There are some very wonderful people who like to Hodgepodge every Wednesday.

1. On Thursday we pause to remember a dark day in history-9/11. Will you mark it in some special way?
I have nothing planned.

2. Do you ever/still...listen to an actual radio? Watch a videotape (VCR)? Look up a number in a phonebook? Refer to a paper map while traveling? Set an alarm on an alarm clock as opposed to your phone?
I still listen to a radio in my car and we also use a radio as an alarm to wake up too.  Once in a while we watch a videotape, but evidently hubby has it unhooked right now.  I don't use a phone book, in fact as soon as we a get a new one, I throw it away.  We still have an atlas that we use, but not very often. Yes, we use an alarm clock most every morning.

3. Is it ever a good idea to discuss religion or politics with people you don't know?
Now see, when you say ever...that's a really long time.  So, I'd have to say, it may be sometimes ok, but most times probably not.

4. What's a dish you haven't eaten all summer, but come September find yourself craving? Have you made it yet this month?
Chili - but October is probably more when I start craving it.  No we haven't made it yet, but I'm sure it will be coming soon.

5. What's something you know nothing about?
If I know nothing about it, how would I know what the something is?

6. September is Classical Music Month. Do you like classical music? If so, what's your favorite piece?
Clair de Lune by Claude DeBussy and Pachelbel's Canon in D Major are two of my favorites. I found these videos on YouTube if you'd like to take a listen.

7. What's the oldest thing you own?
I'm not sure.  I have some old furniture and a few antique dishes, but I'm really not sure how old they are.  I also have a teapot that was my grandmother's, but again I don't know how old it is, but I'd say at least 60-70 years.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Mom was admitted back into the hospital again yesterday.  They are trying to get some of her medication regulated.  Continued prayers would be appreciated.

Monday, September 8, 2014

I think life is starting to get back to normal (or at least a new normal).  Mom is doing pretty well and her and dad are now staying at home alone.  We're stopping in and checking on them, but they are doing fairly well alone.  We just need to make sure they take the medicine and eat.  God has been good and mom has very little pain.  She just needs to build her energy back up.  We actually take her this week for a follow-up with her surgeon and heart doctor.  I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to say.  Thank you all for all your prayers.  We really appreciate them and know it was only because of God's grace that she has done as well as she has.

Kelli seems to be pretty well settled in in her apartment with her friends in Florida.  We talked the other night via Google Hangout.  It was fun seeing her and getting to see her bedroom.  She didn't take us around the rest of the place this time.  She seems happy.

Kerri is still all about her wedding...and seems to be getting it all planned out.  She's having so much fun with it all.  I'm happy for her and Charlie.  They do really well together and I think they'll do really well as a married couple.

Tracy and I finally bought a vehicle.  It's a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan Crew.  We're really happy with it.  It's very comfortable and doesn't look bad either.  lol  I'm just so thrilled the decision is made and we can quit looking for a vehicle now.

We made our vacation reservations last night and I'm so looking forward to some time in Myrtle Beach in November.  It'll be nice to drive that van.  I told Tracy that now I'll be able to buy anything I want down there because we'll have plenty of room in the van to bring it home.  I'm not really too sure that he's as thrilled about that as I am.  haha

We started early in the summer watching the Harry Potter movies with Kelli.  We'll, we didn't get through all of them while she was here (she's seen all of them anyway).  This weekend Tracy and I watched the last 2.  I really enjoyed them.  I can't believe it took us this long to finally get to the end.  haha  I always seem to be so far behind everyone else.  ha

Well, that's about all for now.  Hoping I'll be able to blog a little more often now.  Have a great day everyone!
