Friday Photos

I don't have many pictures this week, but here are a couple.

I've been asked to make a set of black boot
toppers for a friend. I haven't loomed in quite
awhile, but I'm rather enjoying it.

We now have a Ford's Garage in Cincinnati.  Hubby and I
went yesterday and it was delicious.

While watching TV, I took a couple pictures of Lucy.  The room was fairly dark,
so they aren't of the best quality.  But I like them anyway.

She seldom lays on the floor, but for some reason the other night, she did.
I love the mixture of colors on her back and how shiny she is.

Well, that's about all I have.  I hope you are doing well and thanks for visiting,

My Weekend - Scooby Fun

Hubby and I had a quiet weekend, just the way we like it.  Saturday we picked up a sandwich for lunch and ate it in the van and then picked up our order at Walmart.  We stopped at my sisters and picked up a box of items she needed taken to our other sister.  Then we went over and dropped off the box and some stuff we got for her.

After that, we went home and relaxed and then watched the first Hallmark Christmas Premiere movie.  Well, actually, hubby watched it and I fell asleep.  lol

Sunday we went to Sunday School and Church and then picked up lunch at Cracker Barrel and spent the afternoon resting.  I'm feeling better than last week, but still not totally 100%, so the rest was really good for me.  We went back to evening church and then drove over to my brother's church as they were having a trunk or treat.  He told me he made the "Mystery Machine" from Scooby Doo and I just had to see it.  My brother is absolutely amazing at doing stuff life this.  Of course, my brother dressed in a Scooby costume and his wife was Velma, his daughter-in-law was Daphne, a friend was Shaggy and my nephew was Fred (his dog was Scrappy).  It was just all so cute.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of all of them.  It was getting late and they were tired I'm sure.  So just visited for a few minutes and then headed out.

After that we went home and I actually watched the new Hallmark movie, Chateau Christmas and it was really good.  I also finished this hat while watching.  Now to decide if I want to add pompoms to these hats I'm making.

That was my weekend and now just one more week to work until vacation.  Hope you had a good weekend too.

Friday Photos

There are a few peacocks at a farm close to us.  This one was fairly close to the road so hubby stopped in the road and grabbed a picture.

Baby hat made this week

Found this child's hat in the closet.  It was all completed except closing up the top.  Did that this week and then started another hat last night.

My favorite little king!

Beautiful skies last night.

The neighbor's sunflowers.

These are a few pictures from my week.  Hope you enjoy.

My Weekend

We had a pretty quiet weekend.  Just the kind I like.

On Friday, hubby left work early and went to his mom and dad's to sit with his dad while his mom went to an eye doctor's appointment.  His dad was having a good day, so they decided to go for a drive and look at some special Christmas Light displays in nearby neighborhoods.  So when I got off work I went home and took care of the dog and they picked me up and off we went.  First we grabbed a sandwich at McDonalds so no one had to get out of the car and then we went to three different magnificent light displays.  They were coordinated with music, which we could listen to on the van radio.  So beautiful and so fun.  I so thankful that his dad felt like going and I think we had all a really good time being together.

After we got home hubby and I watched White Christmas, which is our annual thing and I loom-knitted a little.  Making a new hat for the grandson.

On Saturday, we actually slept in and then headed out to lunch at Red Lobster and then did some shopping, including some Christmas gifts.  While we were in Walmart we bought a 32" fiber optic Christmas tree.  We had decided not to put up a tree, but this was so cute and easy and now it feels like Christmas in the house.

That afternoon I went with older sister to visit our younger sister who is in assisted living.  We had fun just talking and being together (as we are most Saturdays).  Then Bev and I left and went to Kohls because she had some coupons.  She ended up not buying anything, so I got to use her discounts.  I bought 2 tops and a cute Mickey Mouse hoodie for my grandson.  Win win for me!

Saturday evening Tracy and I relaxed at home and watched another premiere Hallmark movie.

Sunday we had church and then grabbed a sandwich to take home.  Then we actually took a little nap.  I so love taking a Sunday afternoon nap.  We went back to church that night and then home to watch A Dollywood Christmas on Hallmark.  Cute movie.

So how was your weekend?

Thanks for visiting.

NATIONAL CLERIHEW DAY – July 10

NATIONAL CLERIHEW DAY – July 10

NATIONAL CLERIHEW DAY

July 10th of each year celebrates National Clerihew Day in the United States.  Edmund Clerihew Bentley created the whimsical, four-line biographical poem.
An English novelist and humorist, Edmund Clerihew Bentley (July 10, 1875 – March 30, 1956), was a 16-year-old student when he thought up the lines for his first ever clerihew.
Sir Humphry Davy
Abominated gravy.
He lived in the odium
Of having discovered sodium
As with most poetry, the Clerihew is defined by a set of rules. It must contain four lines, rhyming couplets of AA/BB, a person’s name in the first line, say something about that person and it should be humorous. It is meant to be a funny poem, of course.
The genre of poetry wasn’t limited to Bentley. Other poets wrote and published in form as well, and still do.
  • A Cluster of Clerihews by Gavin Ewart
  • Excuse My Clerihews by William Hazell
  • The Lost Clerihews of Paul Ingram by Paul Ingram (Though they don’t really seem lost, I guess they once were.)
Like limericks, poets poke fun at people real and imagined. As with any humor, it’s meant to draw a chuckle from the reader as well as the subject of the poem. If you can’t laugh at yourself and you’re the subject of a clerihew, it’s probably better not to read it. If you’re writing a clerihew about someone who can’t take a joke, maybe don’t write the clerihew. Or, write it about not being able to take a joke.
Nelly Belly ha ha
Danced to Lady GaGa.
Fell on her bum.
Cried in her rum.
HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL CLERIHEW DAY
On National Clerihew Day, try writing a clerihew or two of your own! Post on social media using #NationalClerihewDay.
HISTORY OF NATIONAL CLERIHEW DAY
The day is observed annually on the anniversary of Edmund Clerihew Bentley’s birth, July 10th.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything above this line is from the National Day Calendar.
1.  Try your hand at one of these Clerihew poems, or two or three!
Mickey Mouse is fun
He lives in the land of the sun.
He has really big hands and feet
But I still think he's sweet.

That is it!  It's all I got!  lol
2.  Tell us something about your week so far.
I've been doing a lot of crocheting and loomknitting lately.  I've just finished these  items in the last little bit.

Hope you are having a great day!  Thanks for visiting.
