If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Does anybody really know what day it is? Last week we skipped the Hodgepodge and I just assumed this week would find us in December, but nope. Still November. Do you wear a watch? Use a paper calendar or strictly electronic? What's your favorite hour of the day? Why? Yes, I do wear a watch.  It's an Apple Watch and I really like it.  I always say if I don't have the watch on, then the steps don't count.  lol  My appointment calendar is a shared digital one on our phones.  But I also have a wall calendar in my office and I just ordered a planner/journal combined for 2024.  I don't really have a favorite hour, but since you asked, I'll answer 8PM.  By that time we are mostly done for the day and we sit and watch TV, just hubby, me and the dog.  I love our time together in the evenings.

2. Tell us something about how you celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday. I went to my sister's house and had lunch with my brother, sister and their spouses.  Hubby wasn't feeling well, so I brought him home a plate of food.

3. What's a sound you hate to hear? The smoke detector alarm.

4. Where do you not mind waiting? I don't mind waiting when hubby has an appointment and I go along and wait in the car.  I always have something to do, plus I like people watching.  I'll be doing this tomorrow as he has a podiatrist appointment and this parking lot is always hopping with people coming and going.

5. I really wish it wasn't so cold.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I haven't been to our crochet group for probably 5-6 weeks.  So glad to be going back this afternoon.

Thanks for visiting and if you'd like to link up, you can do that here.

Tuesday 4 - Hooray for Hollywood!

Hooray for Hollywood!

Hello and welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

From Annie:  "Hollywood magic is well named. In Druidism the holly and it's wood were used in magic. Magic wands were often made of holly wood.   Lightning will not strike holly so it is often planted next to homes to protect it. The word holly comes from the word holy and the holly tree was sacred in times past.  Today Hollywood still churns out 'magic' and 'spellbinding' displays as well as 'stars in the firmament' who entertain, mesmerize and influence us."

Let's talk about it....

1.  Do you have a few favorite holiday movies you enjoy watching year after year? Do you make some popcorn to eat while you watch movies at home?  White Christmas is our all-time favorite.  We also like all 3 of the Santa Clause movies with Tim Allen.  We seldom make popcorn, but we do both like it.

2.  Have you had a celebrity crush? Can we ask who it was? Many when I was a kid such as Bobby Sherman, All the Monkees, Hans Solo on Man from U.N.C.L.E.  Also, like Cary Grant, Elvis, Rock Hudson and many others.  lol

3.  Do you have  favorite actors/actresses whose movies you don't want to miss and what movie would you say is your all time favorite from those stars? No, I can't really think of anyone in particular at the moment.  I do enjoy some of Tom Hanks' movies, but I've only seen a few.  One of my favorite with him is Apollo 13, however it's not necessarily because of him (although he is very good in it) but I happen to love the space program.

4. Have you met any famous Hollywood people in person or would you like to?     Why or why not?  No, I haven't met any famous Hollywood people.  Although, one of the actors of a Hallmark movie filmed in our town needed some kind of a document typed and he came to the Police Department and I typed it for him.  The movie was "The Christmas Spirit" and the actor was Bart Johnson.  I'm really not too familiar with him.  Nicollette Sheridan was the female lead.  But that's it for me for meeting famous actors/actresses.

Thanks for visiting.

Bits of This and That

I went to my sister's for Thanksgiving...hubby wasn't feeling well and didn't get to go.  There were nine of us there.  But definitely my great-nephew was the star of the day.  He just turned 2 and he's very shy, but after lunch he warmed up a lot and loved all the attention he was getting from everyone watching him and oohing and ahhing over everything he did.

My baby brother and his wife (grandparents to the great nephew)  I think
Grandpa is a little worn out.  lol

Mommy playing with him.  They'd put this vest on him and he'd run across
the room and take it off and run back to mom to put it on again.

Daddy, Mommy and great grandpa

My brother-in-law is to the right and it's their home
we are in.

Out of kindness, I did not post the picture I took of my sister because she would not have liked it and not only out of kindness, but fear for my life.  lol  She has always hated to have her picture taken, so I didn't put one of either of us.  I took a plate of food home to my hubby and he enjoyed that a lot.  He hadn't had much to eat for the past several days. So he was a happy man too, although still in pain when he moves too much.

Friday, I ran out and did some errands and hubby placed an order at Cracker Barrel and I picked that up on the way home.  The rest of the day was spent at home, resting and watching Christmas movies, etc.  Saturday was a very similar day.  On Sunday we went to church...hubby still couldn't turn his head, but he did preach and I personally thought it was a great sermon.  Below is the pre-recorded version of his sermon.

So that's pretty much our weekend.  Hubby called and made an appointment with the chiropractor this morning and after that, I'm meeting my sister to go do some shopping.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.  I'd love to hear about your weekend.

Share 4 Somethings-November 2023

I'm participating today in the Share 4 Somethings hosted by Jennifer.    Today, we are sharing something we loved, learned, read, ate and/or enjoyed this month.

Loved:  I loved our trip to Myrtle Beach.

Learned: I learned that driving 12-13 hours in a day is not as easy as it used to be.  But we persevered and had a great time while we were there.  And now we are home and recuperating.  lol

Read:  I finished one book in November and it was an audio book, "Called to Protect"  which is book 2 in the Blue Justice series by Lynette Eason.  Currently I am listening to book 3.

Enjoyed/Ate:  Of course, I enjoyed our 3 weeks in Myrtle Beach where we had some really good meals and Thanksgiving at my sister's house, where dinner was absolutely delicious!  All in all, November has been a good month.

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Friday Photos

Hubby and I had a wonderful vacation to Myrtle Beach.  We did a lot of relaxing and watching Christmas movies.  We spent time on the balcony and I spent time on the beach.  We had really nice weather most of the time.  The first day was really cold, but after that not so bad.  Most days I could go out without a jacket, but there were a few that required a hoodie.  We had rain 2 days in a row our second to last weekend there.  But honestly we didn't mind at all.  The beach is still beautiful even in the rain.  We just enjoyed it from our balcony.

I think there was a family on the beach that made this and I thought it was cute.

We had some really good food.  One of our favorites is a little Italian restaurant called Toffino's.  If you're ever in Myrtle Beach, I recommend you stop there.  We got it twice and took it back to our room.  There portions are large and we realized the next time we need to split a meal and maybe get a salad with it, as neither one of us could finish ours. I did not take pictures, but I put a link above.

We also enjoyed several times getting something from DQ and taking it to Warbird Park and watching the planes taking off and landing at Myrtle Beach International Airport.  I've added a link to their website if you're interested.  Their newest memorial was dedicated while we were there.  It's in honor of those who served during WWII.  I took a couple pictures there one day.

I know some of these photos were posted before, but here they are again.  I hope you are having a great day.  I'm enjoying just spending a day at home.  Thanks for visiting.

Friday Photos

Sharing a few photos from the last couple of days.

New WWII memorial here in Myrtle Beach at Warbird Park

Even when it's gray outside, the beach and sky can still be beautiful

An almost empty beach

A couple of cats that run around the deck of our hotel and of course,
I've just had to feed them a few times.

I hope you have enjoyed these photos from our trip.  As you can tell, I love to take photos when traveling and I love to share them here for my future viewing pleasure.  lol

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday Morning:

It's been a great 2 weeks of vacation so far and I'm so thankful we have 5 more days.  This has been one of the most relaxing vacations ever.  I've collected a bunch of shells for a friend and I've found some sharks teeth for me.  I'm thankful for the time I've had on the beach and knowing I have 5 more days to go out there makes me happy.

I brought Christmas cards with me from the church and I have them all addressed.  Only have to sign them and they'll be ready to go.  I'm thankful to have the time to do this in a relaxing manner and not under pressure.

I bought Christmas cards at my favorite Christmas store here in Myrtle Beach to send to friends and family from Tracy and I and got them at half price and I love them.  Hoping to get them started while here too.

I'm thankful for time two finish 2 books and start 2 more.  And I'm thankful for the Christmas movies we've been watching.

I'm thankful for all the sunrises or pre-sunrises I've gotten pictures of.  The skies here have been so beautiful.

I'm thankful for the naps I've had time to take and the good food we've eaten.

I am blessed for sure.

Thanks for visiting.  Why don't you tell me what you are thankful for this week?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click above to link up and play along.

1. This week's Hodgepodge lands on National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day. Is yours in need of a cleaning? Will you get that done today? How often do you tackle this particular chore? I think mine isn't too bad as I cleaned a lot of it out before we left.  When we get back home, I need to wipe it all down inside and out and we should be good to go.

2. November 15th is also National Philanthropy Day...tell us about a charity (local or otherwise) you like to support when you're able. Our town's food pantry is one.

3.What in nature inspires you and why? The sky and the ocean as they are so big and beautiful and always remind me of God.

4. What's something you own that makes you feel cozy? Our fuzzy blankets...I brought 2 with me on vacation.

5. Who did you thank today? Who thanked you? Our waitress and she thanked us.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I've started a new lap blanket and I think I'm going to like it.  When I get a little farther I'll take a picture of it.  As to question #2, my sister and I are both making some lap blankets and we're planning to donate them to the Hospice where our sister was.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great week.  We have one more week of vacation left and we are enjoying most every minute.

Tuesday 4 - Fall Y'all..How's It Going?

Fall Y'all.. how's it going?

Happy Fall Y'all

So, can we talk about how your autumn is going this year? Maybe we can get you to post a photo  or two
of your area in autumn...big changes or not.

1. Are leaves still falling where you are or are they done now? They were falling when we left for vacation.  Probably still are.  They are falling where we are now too.  Have they even changed yet?

A tree in our neighborhood a couple weeks ago.

2.  Does anyone in your family go hunting? Have you ever gone? Would you tell us about it?  I don't know of any that go hunting any more.  My older brother used to.  I've never gone hunting.

 3.  Who rakes the leaves at your house? It would be me if it's needed.  But our biggest tree was taken down many years ago and we usually do not have to rake much any more. That tree used to leave us so many leaves that all 4 of us would rake and take care of it together. Usually the last mowing will take care of the worst of our leaves so we seldom rake now.

4. Is football on your menu for fall? What teams get you cheering? No football for us.  If we pick a team, I suppose it would be the Cincinnati Bengals as they are our local team.

If you'd like to link up and play along, click here!  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a really great day.

Friday Photos

Here are several photographs I've taken this week on our trip.

This morning prior to sunrise. See the moon at the top of the photo.  This photo does not do it justice.  It's just so beautiful and I feel so blessed that I woke up in time to see it.

Another pre-sunrise photo

The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness;
His mercies begin afresh each morning.

Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT

I hope you enjoyed some of my pictures and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
