If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Friday Fragments w/ Lots of Pictures

Mommy's Idea

Hubby and I bought each other a Keurig for Christmas and we are so enjoying it.  I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I like the hot chocolate and love the hot apple cider.  I love getting up in the morning and fixing a hot drink and some toast and jelly for breakfast.  Yummy!  I don't know how I lived so long without my Keurig.  :)

Wednesday we had snow when we woke up and it snowed most of the day.  We relaxed around the house for the morning and then I got a call from work that the software issues had been taken care of.  So I went into work for half a day and did payroll.  Other than that 4 hours I am off for the week.

Worked a jigsaw puzzle Wednesday night.  I haven't done one of these in a long time.

Thursday, Kelli and I went to see Les Miserables.  She loved it, me...not so much.  It was okay.  I like musicals, but in this movie there were probably not more than 10-20 words actually spoken. That was definitely not what I expected.  Plus it was so sad.  Just not my thing.  But as I said, Kelli loved it.

Carolyn came over Thursday night with Carina and we all had so much fun laughing and playing with the baby.  Here are a few pictures.

Isn't she adorable

They were getting ready to take her out to play in the snow for the first time.  I stayed inside and put her a blanket and her pj's in the dryer to warm her up quick when they came back in.

I love this little snow bear!

They were really only outside about 5 minutes.  I love the look on Carina's face.

Look at her reaching for the candy Kelli has in her hand.

Three lovely ladies watching Pocohantas

Carina and I telling secrets

You just gotta love these two!  :)

 Beautiful...inside and out!

Christmas Was Different This Year

I really haven't said much here, but our youngest daughter moved out in October. She decided she was ready to live life the way she wanted to. Of course, our oldest is mostly gone because of college and then working and internships in the summer. So basically hubby and I are empty nesters now. We've had a little difficulty adjusting, but we're doing okay.

However, that being said, Christmas was a little different this year. Good, but different. Kelli is home for a month, well she's out of college for a month, but is home some and gone some trying to catch up with friends and family.

Christmas Eve we all went to my sister's house to celebrate with my parents and all my brothers and sisters and their families. Kerri and her boyfriend came in too and it was fun just being with the whole family. The two pictures below are our oldest and our 2 nephews. They were given the assignment of being elves and they passed out the gifts in the gift exchange we did. They were so funny and we had a great time.

This picture cracks me up!  You'd never believe they are 18, 19 and 21 would you
Aren't they the most adorable elves in the world!
Then late that night, we went back to our house and had Christmas with Kerri.  Like I said, it was different but still good.  I think she loved everything she got and I know we did too.

I sure do love these girls
Then on Christmas morning, Tracy, Kelli and I got up and did our Christmas to each other and had our annual Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast.  I finished making the lasagna and then we went to Tracy's parents for lunch and Christmas with his parent's and brother and family.  Unfortunately, I had my camera on the wrong setting and the pictures didn't come out very good there.  But suffice it to say, we were all there and had a very good time together.  Here are a couple that aren't too bad.

Kerri and her boyfriend, Charlie

I just think this one is really funny.  This is the 4 cousins.  Huh, I just realized there are 2 girl and 2 boy cousins on both sides of our families.

So, while we are adjusting to the changes in our life, God has proven to always be there with us and we are doing okay.

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas too.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Friday hubby and I went out for dinner and some bluegrass music. Here's a video of one of their songs.

Saturday morning, this lovely arrangement was delivered to our house.  It is from my boss.
Isn't it pretty?

Saturday we finished most of our Christmas shopping and then visited with family at my mom and dad's that evening.

We had a wonderful morning of worship on Sunday. The sermon was on "The Mystery of the Wisemen". The main point I got was that we are supposed to be a light to lead others to Christ, just like the star led the wisemen to see Jesus.

After church hubby and I went to lunch and then stopped at Target to get the last 2 gifts we needed. As we were leaving, someone backed into my car in the parking lot. Dented my trunk lid pretty good. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Called the police and they wouldn't take a report as it was on private property. Hopefully, that won't prove to be a problem. My car was in park so I wasn't moving. However, she says that I backed into her. We'll see what happens. Trying to pray and trust God to handle.

Friday Fragments and White Christmas

Mommy's Idea

Sunday evening we went to Cincinnati to the Esquire Theater and participated in the White Christmas Sing-a-long. I don't have my pictures here, so I went to the FB and I'm posting a couple of those, including one they took of Tracy and I.

A favorite scene from "White Christmas"

"Sisters" as a side note, both Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen are from Cincinnati.

Santa and Mrs. Claus (along with Vixen they led caroling before the movie.  Lots of fun and pretty good singers too.

Tracy and I waiting on all the fun to start
It's been a good week but I'm so glad the work week is almost over. I'm so ready for a few days off. Only working one day next week. Not sure which day that's going to be. Only working because I need to do payroll and they are having some software issues.

Mom was in the emergency room and had some tests run for a different issue. All looked good, so we'll see what happens.

Last night was just a relaxing evening at home. Love it when those happen.

Still need to wrap all the gifts and even buy a few more, but we're getting close to being finished.

Tonight hubby and I are going out to dinner and to listen to bluegrass music. Can't wait! It should be a great evening.

What If the Wisemen Were Wise Women?

My husband found this and used it in a sermon in 2008. I loved it so much then and posted it. I decided I wanted to share it with you again. Hope it makes you laugh like it does me.

Ever wonder what it would’ve been like if the wise men had been women? When they arrived at the manger, you can bet they would have:

1. asked for directions;
2. arrived on time;
3. helped deliver the baby;
4. cleaned the stable;
5. brought practical gifts; and
6. made a casserole!

And a couple of our ladies added another one.
7. They would have made reservations ahead of time!

Wednesday Hodgepodge and Christmas Tree Photo Link Party

If you are here for the Christmas Tree Photo Link Party, go to the bottom of this post and you'll see my tree. Now on with the Wednesday Hodgepodge 1st and then the Christmas Tree Photo Link Party.

1. How will you spend 'the night before Christmas'?
At my sister's house with all of my family.  There will be food and presents and good times had by all.

2. What is one thing you are not?
Skinny

3. Fudge-are you a fan? Your favorite flavor?
I'm a fan and as I've said before my dad makes the best peanut butter fudge in the world.

4. Did you attend any craft/vendor fairs in the month of December? Do you prefer homemade goodies or the more professional stalls? Are you giving any homemade gifts this year?
I have not attended any in December.  I like homemade stuff.  No I'm not giving any homemade items this year.  I have often in the past, but not this year.

5. What's your favorite type of holiday gathering?
One where there is family, good friends and good food.

6. We're approaching a new year...what's going to be different in 2013?
I'll be writing 2013 instead of 2012....I usually don't make resolutions, so that's about all I know right now.  Guess I'll wait and see what the Lord has in store for me.

7. Share a favorite scripture, quote, saying, or song lyric relating to peace.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."
Isaiah 26:3  KJV   I love this verse in the King James Version.  When I read this question, this is the first thing that popped into my mind.  Maybe this will be my "different" thing in 2013.  Actually trying to live this verse.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

When your finished with the Hodgepodge, why not click the button above and join in with the Christmas Tree Photo Link Party.

I took some of your-all's advice and put a bow on top of my tree.  I really love it.

Weekend Wrap-Up

My computer got a virus and has been very, very sick. Hubby has just about got it all back up and ready for me. I'm using a different computer right now, but hope by tonight I'll be back on my own.

Kelli arrived home Thursday. Her dad and I and her dad's parents were at the airport to meet her. It was so good to see her again. We hadn't seen her since August and it's been since May that her grandparents had seen her. So fun!

Did a little shopping on Friday and Kelli renewed her driver's license since she was back in the state. They expired in October and it was just too hard to do it through the mail. So at least now she can drive while she's home.

Saturday, hubby and I went to the grocery store 3 times. Can you imagine? We went early in the morning to get the rest of the food items from the Christmas baskets. Then we went out for lunch and stopped to get our own groceries. We went to a store about 20 minutes north of our town. As we were shopping we realized that they were more expensive than the store in our town. So we went ahead and bought what we had in our cart and then left and went to our town grocery (same store, but just different branches) and got the rest of our groceries.

Took Kelli to Skyline (which is one of her favorite chili restaurants, as she used to work there) and then visited with my mom and dad.

Mom talked to the Doctor on Friday and has opted not to have surgery. They are going to try medication. We're praying this will take care of the problem. She is feeling good. Thank you for all of your prayers.

Sunday we had a great morning service. I may be considered prejudiced, but I think my husband did a wonderful job on the sermon. Then we had our annual Christmas Church Dinner and auction after church. As always, there was great food and so much laughter and fun at the auction!

Sunday evening, Tracy, Kelli and I went to the Esquire Theater and participated in the "White Christmas" Sing a long. We had a ball, but I'll tell you more about that and possibly have some pictures later this week.

Hope you had a great weekend too.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click the button above to join in the fun of Hodgepodge.  But hopefully you'll read my answers and comment first.

1. So, when did you last take a walk in the woods? A stroll along the beach? A drive going nowhere in particular in the car?
Strolled the beach while in Florida in August this year.
New Smyrna Beach - that's Kerri in the pic

2. Are you sending Christmas cards this year? About how many do you send? Photo card or something more traditional? How do you display the cards you receive?
I'm still planning to, but don't know if I'll get them done or not.  Usually send 30-40.  Just a traditional Card.  I usually put the received card in a basket.

3. What's a word you've heard too much of in the past week?
hippopotamus - you know as in "I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas"  I can't even tell you how many times that has come on the station I listen to at work that's playing 24/7 Christmas Music during the work week.

4. December 13th is National Cocoa Day-are you a fan? Plain or flavored? Marshmallows or no marshmallows?
Definitely a fan.  Love, milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Marshmallows yes and whipped cream is good too.

5. What is something you do to help alleviate the hectic pace of the Christmas season?
Take some time to read some good Christmas Romance Fiction.
I'm reading this right now.  Very good!
 6. Besides jewelry, what's a favorite sparkly-glittery item in your home or closet?
I guess my Christmas Tree right now.I'll show a picture on the 19th.

7. Share a favorite line or two from any Christmas carol.
Joy to the world, the Lord is come!   I'm so glad He came...aren't you?

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Sunday, Tracy, Kelli and I are going to an old theater in Cincinnati and watching "White Christmas".  The audience participates and sings along and I don't know what all.  Can't wait to do this.  Plans are to take lots of pics and hopefully I'll get to post them next week.

Friday Fragments

Still have to finish decorating. I have a bunch of things laying on the couch I want to put up, but haven't done it yet. Lazy much?

Going this weekend to get a bow (or ribbon to make a bow) for our Christmas tree topper. Join us on the 19th (check out the button on my sidebar) and I'll post a picture or two.

Made a cake last night. This is something we rarely do here. Mainly because if I make it, I eat it and I definitely don't need it. Anyway, it's good and hubby and I are enjoying it. In fact, that's what I had for breakfast. See what I mean.

I've been enjoying reading some light fiction books with Christmas settings. These are my favorites any time of the year, but especially around Christmas.

Taking mom to the heart doctor this afternoon. Prayers would be appreciated.

Going tonight to pick up painting supplies for the bathroom. Thinking about a really pale blue. Guess I'll know for sure before the nights over.
