Bits of This and That - Hello Monday

Good Morning:

It's been a good weekend.

On Friday, we went to hubby's mom's and he worked on getting her iPad and Roku TV set up.  She just recently got internet in her home.  She and I went and picked up some lunch from Olive Garden and had lunch at her house.  It was a good time of good food and good talking and getting her stuff set up.  After that we headed home and had a quiet evening together, just the way we like it. Also, Friday was my blogoversary.  I've been here since 2008.  I can hardly believe it's been this long.

On Saturday, we ran some errands and then spent the rest of the day at home.  I did some laundry and pulled out some fall decorations. That evening we watched the third Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Sunday we had church (pre-recorded sermon below) and brought home a sandwich for lunch and took a nap and then back for evening service.

Friday was our youngest daughter's 30th birthday and today, Monday is Colton's 8th Birthday.  Man, time is going way too fast!  Love these two lots.

That was pretty much our weekend.  Hope you had a good one. I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah at Hello Monday.

Bits of This and That

Good Morning:

It's a beautiful Monday morning.  I took a short walk with Lucy while it was still in the 60's.  Planning to finish up that time I need to close the ring on my Apple Watch before the day is over. I may walk up and down the aisles here at church to get my last 10 minutes or so in.  It'll be a lot cooler in here as opposed to the 90 some degrees it's supposed to get today.  I'm pretty proud of myself that I walked at least 30 minutes all 7 days last week and want to continue that trend this week.

Beautiful sunset skies

It appears he has outgrown the kids' meals and is now moved onto to
a Big Mac.  I sure do love this boy more that I can even say.

Early morning sky.  If you look close you can see the moon is still out.

We spent a lot of time at home this weekend.  I read an entire book by Linda Ford on Friday and then started another by her, which I'm still working on.

I've been struggling with the pink blanket I've been working on (crochet).  I started it out too big and I wasn't sure I was going to have enough yarn.  So when I laid it out to measure and see what I thought, I saw that for some reason it was getting wider as I went and about 5-6 rows back I noticed an error I had made.  So I decided right then and there to start completely over.  Now mind you, I had probably used 5-6 skeins of yarn already.  But I did it anyway and I think I'm much happier for it.  I still will have to frog what I've already done because I'm going to need that yarn.  But it's worth it.  If I'm going to make something, I want to be happy with it.  I'm not saying it has to be perfect, but it needs to make me happy and proud to give it to someone.  For those of you who crochet or knit, have you ever frogged a project that you've already spent hours working on?  Was it worth it?

Hubby preached a really good sermon on Sunday morning.  He's been doing a series on the names of God.  Sunday's was Jehovah Adonai.  The pre-recorded sermon is below.

Sunday was also hubby's birthday.  We had a very quiet day (which is what he wanted).  We are taking the week off next week and we plan to celebrate both of our birthdays sometime that week.  I love this man with all my heart and am so blessed to call him mine.  God has been good to us both.

So how was your weekend?

Bits of This and That - Hello Monday

It's Monday and I'm linking up with Holly & Sarah for Hello Monday.  It's a beautiful morning outside, but it's going to be a hot day.  It's 9:46AM and it's 76 degrees already and I think hubby told me it's going to be in the 90's before the day is over.  We had a nice quiet weekend and I'm not sure if I took any pictures.  I'll have to check.

Most of last week, we did not have internet at the church due to a bad router.  That got replaced before Sunday, so everything worked well for the weekend.  Hubby worked at home for parts of those days.

Friday we ran some errands and brought home some lunch from Noodles & Company and spent the rest of the day at home.

Saturday we picked up his mom and went to lunch at Chuy's and she insisted on buying and said it was for our birthdays, as hubby and I are both August babies. As always, lunch was good and we had lots of good conversation.  I say that every time, but it is the truth.

Sunday, we had a good Sunday School and Morning Service and then came back for the evening service. I will post the video of the pre-recorded Sunday Sermon.  Here's a story hubby told in his service.  I don't know where it came from, but it almost made me cry.

While praying one day, a woman asked God “Who are you God?” He answered: “I am.”

But, Who is … ‘I am.’” She asked.

God said, “I am Love, I am Peace.  I am Grace.  I am Joy.  I am Strength.  I am Safety.  I am Shelter.  I am Power.  I am the Creator.  I am the Comforter.  I am the Beginning and the End.  I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”

Tears came to her eyes.  She paused, and then she said “I think I understand. But who am I?”

God tenderly wiped her tears and whispered: “You are Mine.”

I don't know about you, but sometimes I just need to be reminded to not listen to satan's lies, but to remember God's truth and to know that I am His!

Here is the sermon video.

Oh, I guess I should also say, Sunday was my birthday.  I'm not ashamed to say I'm 67 (can't hardly believe that though).  I am just so glad for everyday I get to live on this side of the dirt.  We didn't do anything exciting for my birthday.  I did hear from both of the girls and also from my brother and my sister.  I received bunches of birthday wishes from friends and family on FB.  I even had 2 people at church sing "Happy Birthday" to me.  It was a great day and just the way I like to celebrate.  Our plans are to get a birthday cake at the end of the month, when hubby's birthday comes.  There is no way we need to have 2 cakes in one month.  lol

Well, that's pretty much my weekend.  How was yours?  Thanks for visiting.

Cathy

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. If your life had a theme song for this past year what would it be? Goodness of God.  But actually this is my theme song for my whole life.

2. Chocolate cake, chocolate milkshake, chocolate ice cream, chocolate truffle, chocolate mousse, chocolate candy bar or a fudgy chocolate brownie...of the chocolate treats listed, which one is your favorite? Which one have you tasted most recently? Or maybe you don't like chocolate??? My favorite would be chocolate cake.  Most recently, I had some low sugar chocolate ice cream.

3. What has surprised you recently? That I've been enjoying watching some of the Hallmark Mystery Movies.  I've never been a super fan of the mystery genre.  But they are better than I thought and I even read a whole mystery series by Alana Terry a few months ago.  Who knew?

4. September 19th is National Voter Registration Day in the US. Are you registered to vote in whatever state or country you happen to live in right now? If not, why not? Not counting a political race, what's something you've had to vote on recently? Yes, I am a registered voter.  A couple of months ago we had a vote on a state constitutional amendment  It did not go the way we hoped, but at least we had our chance to voice our opinion through a vote.

5. Do you like to hike? If so, when's the last time you went hiking and where'd ya go? If you're not a hiker are you a walker? Is walking (for exercise, etc.) part of your daily/weekly routine? No, I really don't like to hike very much...but if there's a beautiful view or waterfall at the end, I like it a little better. I do like to walk.  It's for exercise and also to let the dog do some exploring.  It's not a daily routine, but I like for it to be at least 3-4 times a week.  As the weather is cooling down, I hope to make it a little more regular.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

My grandson turned 7 on Saturday!
Time is flying by so fast.
I sure do love this boy and his mama!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Did you watch any coverage of the 9/11 services on Monday? How do you feel on this day some 22 years after the events occurred? Share more if you want to share more. No, I didn't watch.  I hope we will never be attacked like that again.

2. September 13th is National Peanut Day...do you like peanuts? Your favorite dish that contains peanuts? Yes, I like Peanuts.  I'm not sure I eat them in a particular dish.  I just like to eat them plain and also in candy bars such as Snickers.

3. Something you're currently 'nuts' about? My youngest daughter.  She turns 29 today.
Happy Birthday!

4. Your favorite Peanuts character? There are several quizzes online if you're curious...I took two and got the same character for both so I'm sure it's accurate lol. (Click here for the link)
Linus is probably my favorite.  I took the quiz and it said I was Charlie Brown.  Sounded fairly accurate.

5. Tell us about a job you worked 'for peanuts'? The job I ended up retiring from.  When I started minimum wage was $2.50 and I probably didn't make much more than that.  That didn't really bother me too much because I was only 19 and still lived at home.  But eventually times changed and I ended up doing okay.

6. Insert your own random thought here. We started a new Bible Study last night called "When You Pray."  One of the quotes from Jennifer Rothschild really stuck with me.  She said, "Prayer is not a performance, it is a conversation with God."  I think it's so important that we know this.  He's not ticking off a box for all the things we say being just perfect, He is more interested in us being in tune with Him and being authentic and just talking with Him about our worries and cares and praising Him for all He is.

Happy Blogoversary to me!  On this day in 2008, I wrote and posted my first blog post.  Who would've dreamed I'd still be here 15 years later!  I'm so glad I answered the challenge put out by my co-worker.  So how long have you been here in this blogging universe?  Inquiring minds want to know!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for our our sweet Lucy.  She is 10 years old today.  I can't believe we've had her that long.  Unfortunately for her, she had a vet appointment today to get her boosters.  He said she is very healthy and I'm praying we'll have her for a lot more years.

She's a pretty hyper dog and she's definitely strong-willed.  Much more so than either hubby or myself.  But we love her so much.  She keeps us on our toes and she makes us laugh a lot.  Here are a few pictures of her through the years.

Thank you Jesus for giving us this little girl.  Happy 10th Birthday, Lucy!!!
