If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Thankful Thursday

Click above to link up.

I'm thankful for:

Another day of life - even if it is pretty cool and rainy and grey.  I'm still alive and in good health.

Jesus - how does anyone make it without Him and his salvation?

Family - loving my husband (who is such a giving and caring man), my girls - who are living their life, but still find time to call and check-in with us. My sisters too (who check on us too) and my brother.  I'm so blessed with many extended family (cousins, etc) too.

Church - love our church family and sure am missing them.

Audiobooks - Currently listening to "The Shack" while at work.  I've read and listened to it several times, but am listening to it again.  Listening to a book helps make the day go so much faster.

So what are you thankful for?

1. Expect the unexpected on From This Side of the Pond. Here's my x-ray question...when was the last time you felt like Superman? What's your superpower? Explain.
I'm not sure I've ever felt like Superman and I don't have a superpower.  I'm one of those people who is "okay" at a lot of things, but not particularly "super" at anything.

2. Are you a fan of the 'superhero' type movies? If so what's your favorite?
I've never really watched too many of them, but probably Superman would be my favorite.

3. Have you postponed or cancelled a trip to the dentist in recent weeks, and if so when do you think you'll feel comfortable going back? How about other routine medical procedures?
I have not postponed an appointment (but the doctor's office did), but I have postponed making an appointment.  I'll probably wait until June (same thing with an eye appointment).

4. What's something that makes you feel youthful? Something that makes you feel 'not so youthful'? Tell us why.
My Grandson to both questions.  Young because I love to play and color and read with him and old because I wear down so fast when doing it.  lol

5. I feel compelled to include some sort of corona related question in the HP these days. What's the strangest thing you've seen in relation to the virus? Something that really struck you as odd, made you stop and think, 'Dorothy we're not in Kansas anymore?'
Some of the photographs of people on FB have been pretty strange.  Wondering why workers were mandated to wear face masks before, but now that they are opening stuff up some they are being mandated.  It's okay and I'm sure there's a reason, but it does make me go hmmm??

6. Insert your own random thought here.
And that's the truth!!

Tuesday 4 Meme

Extremes

Welcome to Tuesday 4 in memory of Toni Taddeo.
The idea is to get people thinking and talking to one another. The more we talk, the more we learn and grow.  If we have learned anything from this house arrest, it is that people need people and as Barbra Streisand sang, "People who need people are the luckiest people in the world."
This week, let's think about extremes....
  1. Besides a house or car what is the most expensive thing you've ever bought?  Probably my iPhone as other than the house and car, I typically don't buy really expensive things, unless you consider vacation as buying something.  Our trips to Disney can be pretty expensive.
  2. What is the coldest temperature you've experienced? The warmest?  I really don't have any idea.  I know for coldest it's definitely been below 0 and for hottest it's definitely been above 100.
  3.  Can you name a favorite TV/Radio program that you secretly can't get enough of or one that you will watch every chance you get? Perhaps binge watch? NCIS  We started binge watching the series from the beginning about a month ago and I'm still loving it.
  4. What is very wrong but sounds good to most people at first?  Eating that whole box of Oreo Cookies! lol

My Weekend

My weekend was very quiet.  Got off work on Friday and stopped by my sisters and she brought out some crochet straps for me to finish by putting on the buttons.  I had 10 at home I had made and she made another 10, so that's 40 buttons for me to sew on.  I did my 10 Friday evening after supper (hubby had put a chuck roast on in the slow cooker before work...delicious).

Saturday morning I watched Pixar's Onward and sewed the buttons on the last 10 straps.  Onward seems to be a favorite of my grandson right now, so I wanted to see what he was watching.  I really enjoyed it and would recommend it if you haven't already seen it.

After finishing the buttons, I got cleaned up and we dropped off the face mask straps to my sister so she could turn them in to her ladies' group to donate with the masks being made.  I thing we are finished with making the straps now.  My sister made well over a 100 and I thing I probably made about 75-80.

Hubby then dropped me off at Wal-mart and I ran in and picked up a few things we needed and some stuff for my younger sister in assisted living as she is not allowed to get out at all right now.  Hubby and I then did a curbside pick-up at Noodles and Company and then dropped the stuff off at the door for my sister and we were back home for the day.

Sunday we got up and went to church and hubby did his live FB online broadcast.  I think that went really well.  Then again got some curbside service for lunch and we were at home the rest of the day.  I tried to take a nap, but got a video call from my youngest and enjoyed playing with my grandson.  He is a hoot on the phone.

Then I got settled back in for a nap and the dog decided she needed to go out.in.the.rain!  Oh well, nap time was done for me!  So instead I started a jigsaw puzzle.  I've been wanting to do one ever since this close-down started, but I needed to spend the extra time on crocheting those straps.  Anyway, it's a really neat looking puzzle.  It's a Thomas Kinkade Disney Puzzle.  I'm really enjoying working on it.  Here's a picture of the one I'm doing.

Picture from the internet
So that is pretty much my weekend in a nutshell.  As I said in the beginning it was very quiet...just the way I like them.

Thankful Thursday

Click the button above to link up.

I wasn't sure I was going to post today, because everything is so unexciting in my life right now  and it seems like I'm saying the same thing every week.  But the truth of the matter, exciting or not, Jesus is worthy of our thanks and praise.

So, I'm thankful for:

** Jesus and that He was willing to die for me and that He is always with me.

**my husband, who is always there for me and for all the time we have together right now with not too many things pulling us away.

**Health - ours and our friends and family.

**we've had a few beautiful days in the last week.

**my grandson who makes me smile.

1. What's something you resolved to do this year? Have you done it?
Paint and put new flooring in my house.  No I haven't done it yet.

2. Where do you go to find quietude?
To a park or someplace with water ( the beach is awesome too) and sit in our van with hubby reading, crocheting, people watching and possibly even napping is a favorite with us.

3. A friend asked this question on her Facebook page and said I could borrow it for the Hodgepodge...you're only allowed to buy 5 things at the grocery store, and all must start with the first letter of your first name. Whatcha' buying?

Chocolate
Chicken
Chips
Cheese
Cashews

4. The television show Survivor, the Gloria Gaynor song 'I Will Survive', survival mode, survival of the fittest...pick one and discuss.
Survivor - it's really interesting this season as all players are former winners.  It's brought a whole different dynamic to the show.

5. Share a favorite quote or saying about strength.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Hoping life will be back to normal soon, maybe a bit of a new normal though.  I'm hoping I will never again take for granted being with people and giving or getting a hug or just going out to eat.  God is good and I think maybe some of these alone times have been good for me.  To give me time to think and not feel guilty for relaxing and making me appreciate my friends and family more.

Currently

I am:

Reading…Nothing at the moment.  Finished my last book last weekend.  I'm sure I'll start something new this weekend.

Listening to…Waylon & Willie "Mammas Don't Let your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys.  Kinda in a classic country music mood the last day or so.

Loving…the time at home with my hubby and dog in the evenings and on the weekends.

Thinking…it's time to read another book on video for my grandson.  "Old MacDonald Had A Farm" coming up next.  It's going to be so fun making all the animal sounds for him.  Hopefully it'll make him laugh.

Feeling…blessed because my friends and family are all healthy.

Celebrating…being alive

Grateful…for a short visit with my mother-in-law last evening (from a safe distance) and see that she really is doing okay with all that's going on.

Weather…gray overcast day and it’s cold, but at least the rain has stopped.

Enjoying…a couple of documentaries on space and the Apollo and Gemini flights and planning to watch Apollo 13 this weekend.

A Thought to Share…

Thanks for visiting.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful:

*** that we are still well  and so far as I know all of my friends and family are too.

*** that today is Thursday and it's getting closer to the weekend.  I'm thankful for my job and that I'm still working, but I am so ready for this week at work to be over.  It's been a bit stressful.

*** that I was asked to help make these for my sister's church who is making masks for many medical facilities and hospitals in our area.  Turned in 29 yesterday and I thought we were done, but we decided to see how many more we could make for one more week for them.  So blessed to get to help someone else.

***hubby just texted me that he had a pop-up on his reminders that it's 200 days until our Myrtle Beach trip 2020.  Cannot hardly wait!!  lol

***and as Stacy always says, I am thankful for each one of you.

Have a blessed day.

1. In Monday’s post I mentioned I would incorporate the word I was given for letter K into this week’s questions. That word was karaoke. On a scale of 1-10 how excited would you be to find out there was karaoke happening at your next gathering/outing with friends? 10=gimme that microphone!, and 1=I suddenly remembered there’s somewhere else I need to be. Have you ever actually done karaoke? If you had to perform karaoke what would be your ‘go-to’song?
I'd be a 3 or 4 because I would enjoy watching and listening but I wouldn't probably be willing to sing.  There was a time and place when I would have as I've sung at weddings and funerals and church services for years.  However, I've not sung much in the past several years and I've lost my voice.  I no longer have much range and my voice cracks a lot now.  That being said, I love to watch others do Karaoke and would have a blast being the audience.  If I were to actually do Karaoke I'd probably choose an old country song...maybe Jolene or I Fall to Pieces...something like that.

2. How do you listen to music these days? Favorite app or do you listen the old fashioned way? Do you have music playing often in your home? Is there still a CD player in your car?

About the only time I listen to music is at work on Pandora, which I really enjoy.  Sometimes I also listen to YouTube Music Videos.  No, I don't listen to music at home often, except for sometimes the YouTube Videos.  Yes, we have a CD player in our vehicles.

3. The HP lands on US tax day this year. Or what used to be tax day before everything including filing your taxes was cancelled, delayed, postponed or extended. FYI- filing your taxes has not been cancelled, only delayed for a bit.

Besides staying away from anyone and everyone, what have you found taxing lately?

The hardest for us probably is that we can't meet for church.  I really miss being with our church family.  Otherwise, since I'm still working everyday (hubby too), not a lot has changed except going out to eat.  Now it's just carry-out (which is okay too).

4. You’re without power so no oven, and you can’t open your frig or freezer in order to keep what’s in there from spoiling. And you don’t have access to take out. What will you make us for dinner?

I think the only thing left would be chips, crackers & peanut butter and fruit.  lol

5.  I’ve seen this exercise going around Facebook and thought it would be a good one to include in the HP...what are five things everybody seems to love and go crazy for that you personally don’t care for?

Coffee, Tea, The Bachelor, The Office and anything with Zombies

6.  Insert your own random thought here.

Easter Weekend 2020

Ours was a quiet weekend and mostly spent at home.  Friday we stopped on the way home after work and picked up some chicken from Domino's for supper.  Seems strange to get chicken from a pizza place, but it was very good.

Saturday we slept in a little and then took a run to the post office and to Krogers and then picked up lunch.  We spent the rest of the day at home.  Lucy and I took a long walk in the neighborhood and then we were back home for the rest of the day and watched some TV and did a bunch of reading.
I'm thinking maybe she was a little tired after the walk.  lol

Sunday morning we were up early and got cleaned up and headed to Walmart first.  We needed some hamburger and I needed to get some buttons.  I've been asked to help make some of the straps for the face masks.  My sister's church is making masks and they asked her to make some of the straps as the masks are hurting the workers' ears and she recruited me to help.  They are really easy and kind of fun to make and I'm thankful for the chance to get to help.
some completed and some in progress
After the quick run in Walmart we headed to church and hubby did his first FB Live Sermon.  I think it turned out really well.  I'm so proud of him.  If you follow me on FB I shared it on my page, if you are interested.  It was a really good sermon.

After that we picked up some lunch and a Starbucks and went home for the rest of the day.  I heard from both girls just briefly and hubby and I had a good day at home.  I did some reading and while we watched TV I worked on the mask straps.

So that was my Easter weekend. It was different than normal, but Jesus is still risen from the grave and this quarantine stuff does not change that truth.  It all comes down to a choice and I choose to have Joy!

Thankful Thursday

Click the button if you want to link up with Thankful Thursday.

Sometimes I have trouble thinking of things to put on this post.  It's not that I'm not thankful for everything I'm given, but sometimes it's just hard to think of things to post.  So while these may be just everyday things in some respects, I'm still thankful for them.

** The air we breathe and the ability to breathe.  It's not so easy for some people.

** The beauty we see in nature most every day.  I know there are some who would be so grateful just to have their eyes opened to see a tree just one time.

**The music of the birds and just music period.  So many have never heard anything.

**The voice of my grandson on video chat saying "Gigi, I want to show you something." and then running off with the phone and taking me who knows where.

I know that I am so blessed and I love God for blessing me in so many ways, big and small.

So what are you thankful for?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. How will you celebrate Easter this year?
Mostly at home, except hubby and I will go to church for him to record his sermon for podcast and the plan is he's going to do a live feed sermon on FB for our church people.  That's if he can get everything figured out the way he wants.

2. Is it easier for you to receive grace offered or extend grace to another? Explain.
I think it's easier to extend grace to another.  I think it's hard for me to receive grace because I usually don't think I deserve it.  That being said, I think it's just as important to receive it as to extend it to another.  I'm working on this in myself.

3. Do you say grace before meals? If so do you have a standard dinnertime grace or is it more 'off the cuff' ? Do you say grace when dining out? Do you have a favorite grace? Any special memory associated with 'saying grace'?
Most of the time I do say grace before meals and it's mostly off the cuff.  Yes, we do say prayer when dining out. No, not really, but if eating out or even getting food from a drive through, I do like to pray a blessing on the ones who prepared and served us the food.  I'm thankful as a child we were taught to pray, not only at the table, but also before bed and anytime else is great too!

4. What are some challenges you think the next generation will face? (Generation Alpha-born between 2011 and 2025)
I really have no idea.  I think each generation has things they deal with that the generation before them didn't.  But I don't know what's next.

5. Share a favorite quote or lyric featuring the word faith.
I know you said, faith, but I'm using faithfulness.    Probably one of my all time favorite hymns is "Great Is Thy Faithfulness."  I just love the truth in the words, plus it is one of my most favorite to play on the piano, so they hear it quite often during offertory at our church.  I believe His faithfulness to us is so important even more so than our faith.  I think my faith grows when I see His faithfulness to me in so many ways in my life.

Here are the words.

Great is Thy faithfulness
O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever will be
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
And all I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me
Pardon for sin
And a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer
And to guide
Strength for today
and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside

Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord every morning new mercies I see
And all I have needed Thy hands hath
provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me
So faithful too me

A Sentence A Day - March 2020

My March one day at a time.

1- Sunday.  We went to both services today and had a quiet afternoon at home...best kind of Sunday.

2 - Monday. Lucy got groomed tonight and I got a haircut and it cracks me up that it costs $72 for the dog and $17 for me.  lol

3 - Tuesday.  Bible Study started tonight...Finding God Faithful by Kelly Minter on the life of Joseph.

4 - Wednesday.  Had to be at the Sleep Clinic at 8pm and then they wired me up again but this time I also used a sleep apnea machine so they could figure out the pressure that was needed to keep my passages open so I won't stop breathing.

5 - Thursday.  Released from the clinic around 6:00am - got some sleep but came home and took a quick nap and then cleaned up and headed into work at 10:00am.

6 - Friday.  Received a call and the doctor had already contacted the company where I'm getting my machine and placed the order...this wasn't expected to happen for 7-10 days...don't know how long it will be until I get it though.

7 - Saturday.  Was a beautiful sunshiny day - still a little cold though - spent some time with both sisters and then had all evening with hubby at home.

8 - Sunday.  Good church services, lunch out at our local Mexican restaurant and even a nap and an almost 1 mile walk with the dog - I've got to build up my walking stamina again.

9 - Monday.  Back to work Monday and picked up groceries afterward and then an evening at home with the hubby and another walk with the dog although it was a shorter one than planned.

10 - Tuesday.  Work and Ladies Bible Study made for a really good day.

11 - Wednesday.  Actually had a night at home and hubby made sweet and sour meatballs and rice and I did 3 loads of laundry.

12 - Thursday.  Picked up my cpap machine after work and set it up to sleep with for the first time and actually didn’t do too bad sleeping.

13 - Friday.  Took my sister to the doctor and then took her back home and later found out she can now have no visitors and can only leave for absolutely necessary doctor appointments as they are now on lock down as are all assisted living places in Ohio.

14 - Saturday.  Stayed home all day and actually enjoyed it a lot.

15 - Sunday.  Church and chicken for lunch and a good video chat with Kerri and a short nap equals a really good day.

16 - Monday.  Had a doctor's appointment and then went to work and a quick run in the grocery (so many shelves empty) and then home for the night.

17 - Tuesday.  We had Bible Study tonight and made the decision to cancel for 2 weeks to give this virus thing a chance to pass hopefully.

18 - Wednesday.  Still going to work, but we are constantly sanitizing everything and my poor hands are a bit of a mess, as I'm sure everyone else's is too.

19 - Thursday.  Came home after work and we had pasta for supper and then we watched some TV and I crocheted on hubby's blanket (after a long hiatus from working on it).

20 - Friday. Ordered pizza and picked it up on the way home and just spent the evening inside, watching some TV.

21 - Saturday.  Read a book to my grandson on Marco Polo, his mommy let him view it and evidently he loved it and hopefully she saved it, so he can listen when he wants.

22 - Sunday.  Fairly quiet day and then hubby and I drove south to the next town and I got a Starbucks and then we got some White Castle Sliders and sat in Target parking lot eating and looking at the sky which was pretty neat.

23 - Monday.  We both worked today then at home we just pieced around and fixed our own dinners and I started a new child's hat while watching some TV.

24 - Tuesday. Saw my first one of these this year.

25 - Wednesday.  Hubby made a pork loin in the slow cooker...can I just say delicious dinner.

26 - Thursday.  The birds were really singing today and I so enjoy listening to them praise God.

27 - Friday.  Not a lot going on except working and going home.

28 - Saturday.  Lucy and I took a couple of walks and we took a quick trip into Walmart and picked up some lunch at a drive-thru and ate it sitting in a parking lot with the windows down.

29 - Sunday.  Sunday is nap day and reading a book day and watching TV with hubby day.

30 - Monday.  First time I've done an office visit with my oncologist on FaceTime...interesting.

31 - Tuesday.  Had a long video chat with Colton...we played triceratops and elephant fighting and he "grilled" me a hotdog and corn and he hid me a couple times (I think to keep his mom from taking the phone)...so much fun!

Life is strange right now, but it's still good because it's all in God's hands.  Thanks for visiting.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Has spring sprung in your part of the world? How can you tell? Did March come in like a lion where you live? Going out like a lamb or something more ferocious?

Yes, spring has sprung here in southern Ohio.  I can tell because I saw my first dandelions this past weekend.  Actually, I think we've had a very mild winter and spring is just slowly rolling in.

2. The last thing that caused you to spring to your feet?
Well, at this stage of life I don't do a lot of springing.  lol  But probably it would be at work when I receive a 911 emergency call.

3. Do you have a spring clean to-do list? What's one chore on the list you've already managed to accomplish? What spring clean chore do you most dread?
I don't really have a list, but I do have many things I hope to get accomplished.  Since I'm still working full time during all this pandemic I'm doing well just to keep up with the normal chores.  Probably what I dread the most is just doing a deep cleaning of everything in the house, wiping down walls and ceilings and washing windows, etc.

4. Tell us something you've learned about yourself or the wider world as a result of social distancing/the virus crisis.
That I really do enjoy being in my home and I don't need to run around near as much as we always have.

5. Something you love that's the color pink?
A beautiful pink sky.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Lord, help me to do this today.
