It Doesn't Take Long

You know, it really doesn't take long when returning home from vacation for things to get back to like they were before you left. haha

For almost 3 weeks we lived in such sweet wonderfulness. We got up when we wanted. We slept when we wanted. We ate when we wanted. We sat on the balcony, walked on the beach, visited parks, spent time with his parents, shopped, read, crocheted (well I did), played on the computers. All when we wanted. And might I add, that is a wonderful way to live.

This is from Huntington State Park.  It's kind of a wildlife sanctuary

We visited Ripley's Aquarium and they had the Festival of Trees going on.  They had trees from all 50 states decorated.  Very pretty.

Even on an overcast day, it's still beautiful.

But (there's always a but) we got back home Saturday night and within about an hour we "had" to go to the grocery. There were a few more items that needed to be purchased for the Thanksgiving baskets for church (I'm really not complaining. I was glad to do it) and we needed a few things ourselves. Then church on Sunday (which again I'm not complaining, just stating facts to make my point). We had great services. We watched Carina Sunday afternoon (which was a lot of fun) so her momma could get moved into their new apartment.

Then Monday morning bright and early it was back to work. Let me tell you something, when you walk back into work after being off for 3 weeks...whew!...what a mess. But things went pretty well and I got most of it completed before I left. I must really say thank you to my co-workers who did so much of my work while I was gone. You guys are the best!

So, see back to my first sentence...it really doesn't take long for everything to get back to normal. lol

Hope you all have a great day. I plan to. Heading to the mechanics to drop off my car. The heat is not working right and it's just a little too cold around here to not have good heat in my car. Then off to day 2 of work.

Weekend Wrap-up and Now Back to Work

We're back home and this weekend we've started to get back into the swing again. We got home Thursday night and got unpacked and the laundry done and the dog picked up from the kennel. Friday we had to grocery shop because we had nothing in the house to eat. Then Saturday we visited with my parents, and did some Walmarting and just relaxed some. Sunday was back to church and I taught Sunday School, hubby preached and it seemed we were back on schedule again.

Now today, it's back to work for me and hubby and our youngest (who, by the way, turns 18 this week) will be back to full-time school work. She does the online virtual school. She's planning to try to do 2 years in one and get her high school finished this year. I believe she can, depending on how hard she wants to work.

Our ladies' Bible Study starts tomorrow night. We are doing Beth Moore's study of James, Mercy Triumphs. I can't wait to get started. Isn't that such a cool name. Mercy Triumphs. Thank God, for his mercy!!!

So vacation is over and now it's time to get back to work. I'm hoping I'll go back with a better attitude and not sweat the small stuff. I'll try to show some pictures this week from our vacation and tell you about it. We had a great time. I'll show two pictures from our trip.

Really, I'd Rather Be Reading!

Well, I've put it off as long as I can. Tonight we have to mulch. Thursday is Kerri's day to mow, so she'll be doing that. Last night I re-potted 4 new plants I bought. And tonight...tonight we have to do the dreaded mulch. I know it will so pretty when it's done, but I just hate doing it. I guess I'm just lazy. haha I'd rather be relaxing on the front porch and reading my Kindle.

Fortunately, Kelli is still home and will be there to help. So while Kerri is mowing the rest of us will be trimming a few bushes and putting down the mulch. If I have any energy left, I'll try to take some pictures. Actually, I may wait until the weekend because I still need a couple more flowers and 3 hanging baskets to complete the task.

So, what are your plans for the evening.

Back to Work

Well Christmas break is over and it's time to go back to school and work. Kelli is already gone for the day (man it's so nice that she's driving now and we don't have to take her that early. Looks like Kerri is ready (she's on FB right now while she's waiting on me to finish getting ready). Hubby is ready (and he's waiting on me too because I have to drop him off at the church since he left his van there last night). So now, I guess it's up to me. I must quit putting it off and go finish getting ready and go back to work.

I must say I have enjoyed being off (for the most part-I worked 3 days) the last 2 weeks. I think I could get used to being retired real easy. I didn't get too bored ever. There always seemed to be plenty to keep me occupied. Yep, I think I could retire with no problems. But alas, I guess it's not time yet. Yes I have more than enough years in the system to retire, but unfortunately I don't have enough money in the bank to retire. Not with 2 kids still in school! Now, don't get me wrong...I'm very grateful to have a job. I know there are many people who don't. And I don't really hate my job or anything. I just really enjoy being off!

So since I can't retire, I've decided I must change my attitude. So here goes. I'm so delighted to be going back to work. I get to catch up on all the paperwork I missed and I get to catch up on all the December reports and then all the year end reports and then open all the books for the new year. Doesn't that sound like a ball...Nope, sorry, this is just not cutting it. Sounds fake even to me!

So, instead ....Thank you Lord for my job. Thank you for the respite you've allowed me to have these past 2 weeks. You know I'd like to stay off, but you know better and I know you have reasons for me to still be working there. Help me to go back in today and have the right attitude and be a witness for you. Help me to see you today and listen to you and if there's someone you want me to tell about you, help me to see. In the mean time, help me to just praise You!

There, now that sounds more real to me. How about you? Are you going back to work today and how's your attitude? You don't have to tell me. Just tell Him. He understands and He already knows and He cares.

Love you all and I hope you have a great Monday!

Offices, Skies and Magnolia Blossoms

Just some random pictures and/or thoughts today.

This is a picture of my old office after everything was moved out. Soon they will be moving dispatch in her for the next 3 or 4 months while they totally gut and remodel the communications center!

This is the sergeant's office where I am not residing during the daytime. Not a bad office but it's upstairs so I'm getting a lot of exercise. I'll let you know later if that's a good thing or a bad thing. :)

This is what the sky looked like on the way home this evening. I just loved this cloud so I grabbed my camera and took a shot through the windshield while I was driving. I know, I know, not a smart thing to do. Thank you Lord for protecting me even in my stupidity.

This is a magnolia blossom. There's only one on the tree right now so I had to get a picture when I came home from work.

This is another magnolia bush we have. It has quite a few buds and blooms but they are smaller than the other one.

New Office

Yesterday I moved out of my office at work. Now mind you it's just a temporary move. No, I'm not retiring! "sighhhh" Just changing offices. As you may or may not remember, I work for a police department and have for many, many, many years. Try 32!!! Yikes! But you gotta remember I was only 5 years old when I started there. :)

Any way, back to my move. Our communications center is being remodeled this summer and my office is the only other office in the building that has a window that opens into the lobby. Unfortunately, when you dispatch, you have to be able to talk to the people that walk in the police department. I mean, if you don't, who will?!? So they will be cramming the whole communications center into my little office. I feel sorry for them because that's a lot of equipment and not much room to put it. It's gonna be so nice for them when it's done, but the next few months will be hard. But it'll be worth it for them. They are taking 3 big rooms and totally gutting them and making 1 really big room for the communications center. It's going to be so nice!! I worked in communications for more than 20 years and it's definitely time for them to get this nice new center.

So, now back to my move. I will temporarily be sharing an office with one of the Sergeants. He works from midnight until 8am and then I'll come in at 9am and use the office until 5pm. The nice thing about this is the office is upstairs and about as far away as you can get (and still be in the building) from the construction. Things are cramped and we're trying to get organized so we can both work there. (He just moved into this office yesterday too because his old office is being taken over permanently by this remodel).

It's kinda fun to get to work in a new area. It just makes things seem different for awhile.Plus since it is upstairs, I'm hoping I'll get back into a little better shape because of running up and down stairs all day. I hope at the end of the 3 months I can run up the stairs without breathing hard. That's my goal!!!

I know this kinda rambled, but that's how my mind is working this morning!! Have a great day!! I gotta go get ready for work!

All's Quiet and I Wish I Were Napping

It's all quiet in the lives of the TCKK family and quiet is not bad (except when you're searching for something interesting to blog about)! In fact, in our home quiet is very good and does not occur very often. We're all back to work and/or school and getting back into the swing of things. Of course, the girls had a 2 hour delay because of weather this morning. They were loving that! I wish they'd give me a 2 hour delay at work. Of course, I've never been able to talk the bosses into that. hahaha

Over at The Roost, Jules was talking about napping and she started me thinking (very dangerous, I know). She has some darling pictures of animals napping, so be sure to check her out. Anyway, I think here in America we should have a required nap time or siesta, like they do in other countries. Wouldn't you just love to "have" to take a short nap every afternoon. I've tried to convince the boss that this would be a good thing too and that we'd all be so much more productive. Actually, I think he agrees with me, but he could never get his boss to agree to it. Oh well, I guess a little wishful thinking isn't such a bad thing.

So, I guess I better just finish eating my lunch and get back to work because the nap thing just ain't gonna happen today.

I'm home now and just realized this is my 100th Post. Yeah!!!!!!
