Cool sky - taken through the door window at church Sunday evening.

Lucy and me.  She was so happy her mommy was home after work.  Looks like mommy was happy too.  See, my hair is growing back!

Loved the morning sky on the way to work.  Do you like my Mickey antenna topper?

Thankful Thursday

http://www.knitbygodshand.com/2017/01/when-your-stomach-hates-you-thankful.html

Today I am thankful for:

1.  My daughter who comes weekly to clean my house. She helps me out so much. Plus sometimes she brings the baby and hubby and I get to spend some time with him. Last night she came after work and we enjoyed talking and laughing with her and the baby so much.

2.  The dog is starting to calm down some now with the baby which makes things much more pleasant when he's here.

3.  The milder weather we've had this winter so far. I know it's getting ready to start getting colder, but I'm thankful for the warmer temps we have been having. It's been so nice.

4. For Saturday nights at home with hubby. We're doing Saturday night Harry Potter movies. I think this coming Saturday is either the 4th of 5th movie. I love that time with just Tracy and me and the dog.

5.  Thankful Thursday. Thank you Rebecca Jo for hosting Thankful Thursday every week. It helps me to stop and think of things each week that I'm thankful for. Big things or small things, I want and need to always remember to be thankful.  Click the button at the top to go visit Rebecca Jo and to join in with us at Thankful Thursday.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. "The cure for anything is salt water-tears, sweat, or the sea." (Isak Dinesan) Would you agree? Of the three, which has 'cured' you most recently?
I agree, especially with the sea.  Nothing relaxes and calms me like seeing the ocean.

2. What's something you can't eat without salt? Do you normally salt your food a lot, a little, or not at all?
I must have salt on fresh from the garden tomatoes, watermelon, eggs and potatoes.  Otherwise, I don't use much salt.

3. Sands of time, bury your head in the sand, built on sand, or draw a line in the sand...which sandy phrase could best be applied to something in your life right now?
Probably Sands of time.  Seems time is flying.  I mean the baby is 4 months old now!  How did that happen?

4. A favorite book, movie, or song with an island setting or theme?
Castaway is a favorite movie.

5. Yesterday-did you run your day or did it run you? How so?
I think it kinda ran me.  I had made plans for my work day because I had a meeting scheduled in the afternoon.  Came in and found out I had an unscheduled appointment coming in and then they re-scheduled my afternoon meeting to an all day meeting.  So I had to cancel the unscheduled meeting and attend the other.  Then all my other work had to sit until today.  Have to say I didn't mind it to much though.  Learned some good stuff in the meeting I attended.

6. You're on an island holiday. Will I most likely find you parked in a beach chair, shopping in town, on the back of a jet ski, or snorkeling off the back of a catamaran?
Most likely you'll find me walking down the beach hunting shells and just enjoying the breezes.  You might also find me sitting on my hotel room balcony enjoying the great view like this.

7. What do you think we humans most take for granted?
Our families.  They are always there for us and we sometimes forget to be thankful for that.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Joyce you are going to love being a grandma!  There is nothing much better.

Grandbaby!

Hubby and I babysat the grandbaby yesterday for the first time.  His mommy was working and asked if we'd like to keep him.  It was so fun to get to spend the time with him.

It was Sunday so we picked him up early and took him to Sunday School and church with us.  He did so good.  Of course, hubby is the pastor, so he couldn't help once church started.  But we have such wonderful people at our church and one of the ladies volunteered to help.  About halfway through Sunday School he tuckered out.  It put him on a blanket in his grandpa's office and he was out like a light within 5 minutes.  Then during the service, I'm the pianist, which means we both have to be up front.  But again, that lady took care of him.  She's got a new grandbaby on the way and I think she was wanting to get back into practice with a little one.  I so loved having him at church with us.

Sleeping in grandpa's office
After church we went out for lunch.  We met my hubby's parents, so little Colton got to spend time with his great grandparents too.  He was so good.  We held him before the food came and then I put him in his seat and he just sat there so content while we ate.  After we finished eating and were just sitting and talking, finally his grandpa got a chance to hold him.  It didn't take long before he fell asleep in his arms.  I guess grandpa's got the touch.  lol

In the van on the way to lunch
I found out he loves for you to sing to him.  When he got upset (like being in his carseat when he didn't want to be) I started singing "Jesus Loves Me" to him and he would just almost immediately calm down. In the van, hubby was harmonizing along with me and it was so much fun.   That thrilled this grandma's heart that he liked to hear me and his grandpa sing.  The above picture is after he'd been so upset and crying in his car seat.  See how happy he is after the singing.

Great grandma with her first great grandchild.  Aren't they just the cutest.

back in his car seat after Grandpa put him to sleep.

I was a little scared to keep him because he's just so little.  See my youngest was 2 years old when she came to be with us.  So, I never have done a lot with babies.  But all went well, so I hope we'll get more opportunities to be with him.  I so love being grandma.  One thing I did figure out is why God gives babies to young people.  I was completely worn out when he left.  Took an hour nap before evening service.  lol

1.  I'm thankful for Pandora on my computer at work.  I can listen to Southern Gospel Music all day while working.  It helps me keep my mind on Jesus.

2.  I'm thankful that while hubby does have some medical issues, we have been assured that while they can't be cured, they can be controlled.  Learning how to control them and praying God will choose to cure him.

3.  I'm thankful for all the friends and family who love us and pray for us.  God is so good!!

What are you thankful for this week.  Make a list on your blog and click the button above to link up.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Click above button if you'd like to join in with Joyce and the gang. It really is a fun way to learn more about our blogging buddies.

1. ASAP typically stands for 'as soon as possible'. What else could it stand for in your life right now?
I can't think of a thing right now.

2. Are you the last person to speak up in a group or the first to have an idea? Why do you suppose that is? Is it a good thing or no?
It depends on who is in the group.  If it's people I know, I can speak up pretty quickly.  If it's strangers, it takes me longer.  Why?  I guess because that's just my personality.

3. What do you remember best about being 12?
I was in 7th grade and mostly remember loving school and swimming in our pool in the summer.  We only had a pool for a few years, but it sure was fun.

4. January 18th is National Winnie the Pooh Day. Which character do you relate to the most, and why? If you're stumped go here for inspiration.
I didn't know, so I went to the above link and took the short quiz. It said I would be Piglet.  Probably fairly accurate.

5. What's an app you use that helps simplify or make life easier for you in some way?
Hubby and I use an app called Shop Shop.  It's for making a grocery/shopping list.  When we know we need something we put it on here and it updates both phones, so when we go out, we know the things we need.

6. San Francisco (CA), San Diego (CA), San Juan (PR) San Antonio (TX) Sanibel (FL)...you have an all expenses paid long weekend to one of these destinations. Which one do you choose and why?
Either one of the places in California, just because I've never been to California and I'd really like to go some day.

7. Share with us a song that makes you feel nostalgic? For what?
Maybe any song by the Southern Gospel Group, Happy Goodmans.  It reminds me of my parents and how much they loved their music and that they used to take us to their concerts when they were in the area.  We had such great times singing together in the car on the way to church.  I miss those times and I miss my parents.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Hubby and I are enjoying some old shows on Netflix right now.  One is Crossing Jordan, which we have never watched before.  The other is Voyager, which we did watch when it was on, but we are enjoying watching it again.  Do you Netflix?

The Weekend

We had a quiet weekend and I enjoyed it that way.

Friday evening after work, we relaxed at home and watched some TV.

Saturday we slept in and then went out for a late lunch to Ruby Tuesday's. I love their salad bar. Yum!  Then my sister and I went to visit our younger sister. We talked and had fun playing with her cat. Then that evening hubby and I watched the third Harry Pitter movie and I crocheted some. I'm starting a new scarf for hubby. The first one I was working was too wide and heavy for what he wanted. I may turn it into an Infiniti scarf for me.

On Sunday we had two great services at church and we tried a new Chinese place for lunch. It was really good.

That was my weekend.  Not much excitement but I enjoyed it.  How was yours?

Friday Foto Friends

http://www.jeremiah-2911.com/2017/01/friday-foto-friends-62.html
I'm joining in with Friday Foto Friends today for the 2nd time.  Just click the button above if you'd like to join in or just see other folks pictures.  I have just a few this week.

Had lunch with hubby's family at Cassano's on Sunday after church.  Had to take this picture and send to my oldest in Florida, as she loves this place and is always "jealous" when we go without here. Of course, she's been known to get back at me with pictures of the beach. lol

Saw these two at church and Arby's after evening service.

I love this little guy.  Grandkids are so awesome.

Thursday early morning iut was very gray out but it was 64 degrees.  Crazy.  Definitely colder today.
So that's a little bit from my week.  Hope you all have a great weekend!

Here are some things I'm thankful for this week:

1.  I'm thankful for the good discussion we had a church last night in Bible Study.  I love talking with God's people about scripture.

2.  Thankful to get to have lunch with hubby's family on Sunday after church.  We all met at Cassano's and had a good time eating and talking.

3.  Thankful to get to meet up with Kerri and Colton and Matt after church Sunday night to grab a sandwich and be together.  Love that they came to church and I got to hold Colton through most of the service.

4.  I'm thankful that Kelli called when she got off work last night.  It was good to get to talk with her for a bit.

So what are you thankful for this week?

Friday Foto Friends

http://www.jeremiah-2911.com/2017/01/friday-foto-friends-61.html
I've never participated in Friday Foto Friends before, but several of my friends do.  And since I've been trying to get my blog a little more active, I thought I'd try it in 2017.  Click on the button above if you'd like to join in.  I must confess, I did not take all of these pictures.  The ones of my grandson, my daughter took and posted on FB and I "stole" them.

Beautiful sunrise on the way into to work.
Cutest New Years Eve Baby

These are my top photos (with the most likes) on Instagram in 2016
My sister's new kitty - Shadow.  She has the prettiest green eyes I've ever seen on a cat.  Of course she refused to look at me when I got my phone out.

Colton feeling kinda feisty!

A scripture that has shown up in my life 3 times this week. Do you think God might be trying to teach me something?

Things I'm thankful for this week.

1.  Dinner and bluegrass music with my husband and friends Monday evening.  Good times.

2.  Time spent with my sisters Tuesday.  2 of us visiting the 3rd at her place.  Enjoyed playing with her kitty too.

3.  Good service tonight at church.  Loved the discussion we had together.  Also it was good seeing some people that we hadn't seen for a while.

4.  Thankful that we found today that a medical condition hubby has is not as serious as we feared it might be.  God is good.

5.  Hubby used this scripture in his sermon Sunday and I made this picture in the YouVersion Bible App and posted on FB and Instagram. Since then I have run across this verse two more times this week.  Thankful for God making scripture to stand out when He wants to show me something.

So what are you thankful for?
