There are many things to be thankful for.  But today I am so thankful for the beautiful weather and the beautiful blooms on the trees, etc.  God you are saw awesome in the beauty you create for us to enjoy.

This is taken from the back parking lot at work.  Beautiful sky and look at the blooms on the tree in the background.  I've been told that's an ash tree.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'  What's something you've seen recently that you thought was beautiful?
My Grandson

2. Our culture and beauty...your thoughts?
I think we spend too much time working about outer beauty, when we really need to work on our inner beauty.

3. Age before beauty, beauty queen, beauty mark, beauty sleep...which beauty-ful phrase resonates with you today? Why?
Beauty Sleep - because I really need some more sleep.  I'm tired today.

4. I read here a list of the top ten
beasts animals that scare us the most-

alligators, coyotes, black bears, birds (but pigeons in particular), sharks, bats, bed bugs, rats, rattlesnakes, and the black widow spider.

Which 'beast' on the list scares you the most? What is the liklihood of you having an actual encounter with that particular beast? Did a movie contribute to your fear of this creature? Have you ever had a real life encounter with any of the animals listed?
I'm not particularly fond of any of them.  But probably the black widow spider scares me most.  I hate, hate, hate spiders.  I hope I never encounter any of them, except maybe in a zoo.

5. Where were you when you last heard a bell ring? Was it alarming or musical?
I can't remember, but maybe a church bell and I do love listening to church bells.

6. What's your favorite carb? How's that for random?
Potatoes in any form almost.

7. Let's wrap up another month of Hodgepodging and life with an acrostic. Recap your month using the word MARCH.
My mind is completely blank.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
I am totally enjoying our ladies' Bible Study this spring.  We are doing "Redeemed" by Angela Thomas-Pharr.  Awesome study and a wonderful group of ladies.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Don't you just love the new button Joyce has for us to use.  So very pretty.  Just click that button to join in with us.  It's lots of fun getting to know each other.

1. Setting aside the real March Madness (NCAA Basketball) describe something happening at your house this month that might earn the title 'March Madness'?
Nothing special.  Just life in general can seem like madness.

2. What's a favorite made up word from your childhood or a favorite from your children's childhood? Does your family still use the word today? If there's a story behind the origin please share.
Pantycakes...this is what our oldest called pancakes when she was little.  Then there was crunchy music which was country music and the youngest called cookies TT's.  Love to tease them both about these from time to time.

3. Will you be doing any spring cleaning now that the season is upon us? I read here a list of 15 quick (under one hour) spring cleaning tasks. They were-

clean out a drawer, vacuum furniture, whiten tile grout, dust the nooks and crannies you don't get to year round, degrease kitchen cabinets, wipe down walls, go behind furniture, wipe down ceiling fans, vacuum the mattress, clean the range hood, wash baseboards, shine the stainless steel, clean out vents, tackle the windows, and wipe down gadgets

Of the fifteen 'quick' tasks listed which two most need doing at your house? Will you do them?
Probably degrease kitchen cabinets and wipe down ceiling fans.  I hope to get to them soon.  I've been cleaning out closets and cabinets, throwing out some old stuff, including our gas grill and a couple of chairs, and making a dent in cleaning things out.  I'll be so glad to get this stuff done. I think everytime something goes out, our house sighs in relief.  lol

4. A favorite movie set in Paris or New York?
An American in Paris with Gene Kelly

5. What's put a spring in your step this month?
Our trip to Pigeon Forge and some time spent with Colton

6. Did you ever want to be a teacher? Why or why not?
No, because I know I'm not good at teaching.

7. What's your favorite floral scent? Do you have this somewhere in your home or maybe in a perfume? How do you feel about florals in food? How about wines with floral notes-yay or nay?
I don't really have a favorite.  Maybe jasmine or gardenia.  I really don't like floral perfumes nor florals in food.  I've never tasted wine, so I have no idea.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Pam at Empty Nest had a give-a-way and I won a Comfort Jar.  I just got it in the mail yesterday and I totally love it.

This isn't the greatest picture, but inside the jar there are notes with encouraging quotes and some funny ones.  The lid handle is absolutely gorgeous and matches the orange color of the jar..  Now I have to find the perfect place to set it that I will be reminded often to read the quotes and be encouraged.  I may even add a few of my own from time to time,.
If you don't know Pam you really should check out her blog site here.  She is so much fun to get to know.  Also, if you like my Comfort Jar, check out her ETSY shop here.  She has them for sale there along with some other really nice stuff.  Thank you Pam for this prize.

Hope you all have a great day!

Cutie and Beauty

Colton came to church Sunday night to see Gigi and Papaw.  It had been 2 weeks since we saw them.

After church we went to eat and Colton was just talking and carrying on.  It was so funny.  We got him that little Tigger while we were gone and he seems to really love it.

After mommy took him home, evidently he still wasn't done talking.  He just makes me laugh.  I'm not sure he's not sassing his mom in this one.

And even after his bath, he was still going strong.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this little boy!

Monday after work Kerri met us and she and I went to see Beauty and the Beast.  I really enjoyed the movie, but mostly I enjoyed spending time with Kerri.

So that was my Sunday and Monday.  Good times.

Friday Foto Friends

http://www.jeremiah-2911.com/

I cannot believe this little one turned 6 months old yesterday.  Man time is flying.

This was on a trip with his mommy to Chicago last weekend.

Here are some pictures from last week while we were on vacation in the Smoky Mountains.

We ate lunch 2 different times at Paula Deen's Restaurant.  It was delicious!

Front of the Restaurant

This was the view from our table.  Loved sitting by the window.

Some geese that were sitting on the edge of the road up in the National Park

Overlook view of Gatlinburg

This photo is from the same overlook and you can see the charred remains of the trees and underbrush in the area.

Mountain Creek

And another mountain creek

Some wild turkey's

This was in one of the picnic areas of the National Park.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Thankful Thursday

Click on the button above to join in with Rebecca Jo for Thankful Thursday.

I am so thankful for the trip hubby and I took last week.  God was to good to us.  We had mostly great weather with just a little rain.  Most days just a long sleeve shirt was warm enough and the most we every wore was a hoodie.  That is my favorite kind of weather.  We saw beautiful scenery and ate some good food and just relaxed and had a great time.

Here are a couple of photos of our trip from my phone.  I haven't downloaded the camera to my computer yet.

This was at Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge.  I walked their track several times while we were there.

I love creeks in the mountains

The Apple Valley Cafe had delicious chicken salad croissant.  We both loved it.

Had to get a picture of this.
I'm thankful too that even though you could see the damage the fires had done, it wasn't as bad a I feared it might be.  There is still much beauty to see all over.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's Wednesday which means its time for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Click the button at  the left to link in with our hostess, Joyce.  She is the best at asking questions.

1. 'Slow and steady wins the race'...tell us about a time this was true in your own life.
Definitely last year as I battled breast cancer.  Which by the way, if you are overdue for your mammogram, please, please stop right now and call and make an appointment.  See my blogpost here as I just had mine yesterday.

2. 'As slow as molasses'...Do you like molasses? How about maple syrup? Caramel? Butterscotch? What's your favorite of the slow moving treats mentioned here, and what's your favorite food made with that sweet treat?
Yes, I like molasses.  I use them when I make baked beans.  Yes, I like maple syrup on my pancakes.  Caramel and butterscotch are okay, but I seldom have either.  My favorite is maple syrup and I like it on pancakes, waffles and french toast.

3. Your favorite slow song?
I wouldn't say this is my favorite, but Disney does have some of the best love songs and Voctave is an awesome group.

4. Your favorite thing to make in a slow cooker or crock pot?
A beef roast and then add butter noodles with it.

5. 'You may delay, but time will not.' ~Benjamin Franklin Are you more a hurrier or a delayer when it comes to unpleasant tasks that need doing? What are you currently either delaying or hurrying to get through this week or month?
Unfortunately, I'm a delayer.  I'm trying to declutter and I'm not getting real far real fast.  But at least I am moving in the right direction.  lol

6. Tell us three things you encounter regularly or even just occasionally that you find to be annoyingly slow.
Fast food drive-throughs
Doctor's waiting rooms (although the last couple appointments the wait has not been bad at all.
Check-out lines anywhere

7. March is National Craft Month. Are you crafty? Tell us about something crafty you'll try in the next thirty one days. Or something crafty you'd like to try or wish you had the skill to make happen.
I'll be trying to finish a scarf I am crocheting for hubby.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
As if you don't already know, I love this little guy!!!
