If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's that time again.  Time for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Why not click the button and answer the questions on your blog and join in the fun.

1. Something on your October calendar that makes you smile?
Kelli's 24th Birthday.  My baby turned 21 in September and Kelli turns 24 this month!

2. Food for the soul or music for the soul...which camp are you in? Tell us why.
Both.  Food can bring back memories of past times such as yesterday we went to Cracker Barrel for dinner and I had chicken and dumplings which reminds me of my grandma and my mom, who both made the best chicken and dumplings for family dinners.  Music, because I just plain like music and it usually makes me feel good.

3. What are two or three things you've learned recently as the result of an online search?
I search things all the time, but right at this moment I can't really think of an answer for this question.

4. Share your favorite game day recipe. You can describe it, post the how-to, or add a link to the actual recipe.
I'm really not into sports, so I can't say I have a recipe.  However, if I were going to fix something, it would probably be nacho chips and queso or salsa.

5. What are your five essential steps for creating the perfect morning routine?
Pray
Read a chapter in the Bible
Read the First 5 Devotion
Shower, do hair, get dressed
Leave for work, church or where ever on time

6. What small thing have you taken note of today?
I finished the last chapter of Galatians this morning and realized there really is a lot of good stuff in this book.

7. Sum up your September in seven words or less.
It started hard, but it ended good.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Just some random pictures of my girls that I found on my phone.

This hang's in my office.  One of my favorite pictures when they were little.  We were on vacation in NC and they both just look so happy.  We all loved those trips.

Thankful Thursday

http://www.knitbygodshand.com/2015/09/thankful-thursday-link-up-38-its-long.html

It's time for Thankful Thursday.  Please click the button above to join in.

I've been gone from Thankful Thursday for a while.  But I've never quit being thankful.  It's good to be back.  Here are a few things I'm thankful for in no particular order.

**I love this scripture and I love the ability to be able to add it to a picture in the YouVersion Bible App.  This is from our Bible Study on Tuesday.  We were reminded that first we have to delight ourselves in God and then He will give us our desires.  But we were also reminded that as we delight ourselves,  our desires can change to His desires.  So awesome!

** Some close friends of my brother (who passed away November 30, 2014) got together and had this plaque made and it was put under a tree in a park in our town.  They then had a very informal gathering and invited us.  It was so cool to hear these people talking about their love for Larry and how they admired him so much.  The fun stories they told us were so great to hear.  I will always be grateful to them for doing this and for letting us be there too.

The motorcycle helmet was Larry's.  He loved riding and taking trips with friends.
The walking stick was not Larry's, but he did have one (my older sister has it) but reminded them of Larry.  He walked a large portion of the Appalachian Trail a few years ago.
** I'm thankful for my little Lucy.  She makes me laugh all the time.

Wednesday morning..she always jumps in a chair and looks so sad when we're leaving for work

** Beautiful Sunsets

Sunday night on the way to meet Kerri and Charlie
**I'm thankful for quick breakfast items I can make on the run.  I get tired of always going through a drive-through.

If you haven't tried it, this is very good and only 4 minutes in the microwave!
So as you can see, I have a lot of things to be thankful for.  From serious stuff to goofy or simple stuff.  Now, what about you?  What are you thankful for today?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What have you 'fallen for' recently?
I've "fallen for" Netflix.  Hubby and I just started recently using Netflix and have thoroughly enjoyed watching some of the old TV series.  Watching Warehouse 13 right now and I just recently finished the Gilmore Girls.

2. What's something you're 'squirreling away' for later?
Money for our November vacation.

3. How do you like your apples? Sweet? Tart? Crisp? Cooked? Apples are one of the superfoods for fall...how often do you eat an apple either plain or as part of a favorite recipe? What's your favorite variety?
I like apples tart and just plain.  I really don't eat them that often though.

4. According to Fodor's the ten best fall foliage trips in the US of A are-Aspen Colorado, The Catskills New York, The Berkshires Massachusetts, Columbia River Gorge Oregon, Green Mountain Byway Vermont, Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway New Mexico, Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, Upper Peninsula Michigan, Lake of the Ozarks Missouri, and Glacier National Park Montana. Which would you most like to visit this fall and why?
The Great Smoky Mountains.  Why?  Because it's beautiful and only about a 5 hour drive away.

5. The topic of legalizing marijuana was raised in the most recent televised political debate so let's wade in too. Twenty-three states and the District of Columbia currently have laws legalizing marijuana in some form. Four states have legalize marijuana for recreational use. Your thoughts?
For medical uses, maybe, for recreational, no!

6. Are you okay to watch a movie already in progress or do you need to always see it from the beginning? How about jumping into a TV series somewhere in the middle? Is that okay?
Yes, I'm usually okay with coming in when it's in progress as long as it's on TV.  I don't want to pay at the theater and miss any of it though.  I start shows in the middle of the series all the time.

7. Thursday (September 24) is National Punctuation Day. What rule of punctuation trips you up most often? What rule of punctuation, when broken by someone else, bugs you the most?
My biggest problem is I use way too many exclamation points!!!!!!!  See what I mean.  lol

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I'm loving the new Priscilla Shirer Bible Study on Jonah that our group has just started.  It's definitely hitting where my life is right now.

I don't really like to pick someone in particular because some people do not like to play along.  So I nominate anyone who reads this post and would like to play along.  You know I love all of my followers and each one of them is worth checking out and reading. If you decide to play along, let me know and I'll list you below and make a link to your post.

Mom

Mom passed away on August 28th very early in the morning.  I've been wanting to write a blog post about Mom, but had no idea what I wanted to say.  I really still don't know.

Mom has always been so strong and was always entertaining people or doing something nice for people.  Mom and Dad's house was always the one family members came to when they were in from out of town on vacation.  Mom always fed everyone well when you came to their house.  She was an amazing cook (so was Dad).

When Mom and Dad married, she was only 17 and he was 22.  They both had the same birthday and they got married on their birthday.  This year on June 3rd, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary and their 82nd and 87th birthdays.  Mom would always joke that she married Dad to get off the farm and he said he married her because she knew how to do the farm work.  lol

Eventually, when I was a freshman in high school, they bought a small farm.  Dad was able to have a few cows and chickens and pigs and horses and sheep and turkeys, etc.  The one thing Mom was always responsible for when growing up was milking the cows with her older brother.  She never wanted to do that again.  Well, for about a year or so on that little farm, Dad had a milk cow.  Mom told him she, would take care of the milk, make butter or anything else, but she would never milk that cow, even if it's udders burst. And you know what, she never did!!  But she did all the rest without ever a complaint.

I have always known, no matter what, I could go to Mom and Dad with any problem.  They always listened and they always tried to give good advice.  I appreciate all the help they've given me and my family through all these years.

Here's a video of Mom through the years that my brother put together for her memorial service.

Mom, I miss you, but I know you have attained what the rest of us are working for.  Enjoy being with your Mom and Dad and with Larry and all the rest of your friends and loved ones that are there with you.  I'll see you soon!!  I love you!
