If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. "Summer is like childhood. It's full of warm memories and gone too soon."~Kellie Elmore Agree or disagree? Share something you loved about the summers of your childhood.
Agree.  I loved when we had family and or friends over to visit in summers.  I remember playing "Statue" and "Freeze Tag", etc.  So much fun.

2. Are you a fan of auto racing-NASCAR, Indy, Stock, Grand Prix, etc? Ever been to a race in person? Any desire to do this? Do you know a lot about cars? Do you notice particular makes and models when you're out and about?
No, I am not a fan.  Yes, I went to the Daytona 500 one time.  I'm glad to be able to say I did it, but I have no desire to go again.  No, I do not know much about cars.  Right now, I mostly notice Chrysler Town and Country vans because that is what we are hoping to buy soon.

3. What's something you think is too serious to be joked about? Or do you think anything and everything is fair game?
I think my faith in Jesus Christ is too serious to be joked about.  That's not to say that sometimes things in my spiritual life can be pretty funny, or at least the way I react to them.

4. July 29th is National Lasagna Day. Are you a fan? Do you have a great recipe, and if so where did it come from? If given a choice would you choose a plate of lasagna or a plate of spaghetti?
I like lasagna okay, and I make a really good lasagna, but that being said, there are so many other things I would rather have.  My recipe comes from the Better Homes and Garden Cookbook and I use sausage as opposed to ground beef. Spaghetti.

5. What's a simple pleasure you'd miss if it were not a regular part of your life?
Quiet time with my hubby.

6. If you could be the CEO of any company, which would you choose?
Disney

7. August is just around the bend...bid farewell to July in exactly seven words.
July is over, now on to August!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I noticed last night that there are a couple of new shows coming to TV this fall that sound interesting.  "Scorpion" and "Madam Secretary" both look good.

Friday Fragments

Half-Past Kissin' Time

It's time for Friday Fragments again.  Well, actually it was time this morning, but I'm just now getting around to it.  Man, work sure gets in the way of my fun sometimes.  haha  Anyway, better late than never.  Click on the button, which will take you to Mrs. 4444's blog and to the page that gives the directions for Friday Fragments.  After you've read, click home and it'll take you to the current Friday Fragments.  But of course, please read mine and leave some comment love here first.  Thank you!  :)

**  Hubby and I are still looking at vans.  We know what we want, but we are trying to be patient until we get the deal we want.  Sometimes that is not very easy.  I hate being patient.

**  We are also trying to help Kelli find a car.  She has put in a lot of hours this summer trying to save enough to buy her something that will get her to Florida safely and that she'll be able to drive around for a couple of years.  She doesn't want to invest too much, as she will soon have to start paying on her part of the school bills, plus this is the first time for her to be on her own and paying for an apartment, etc. I'm so excited for her and for all she will be experiencing very soon.  I will also miss her dearly.

**  Hubby and I had dinner with Kerri and Charlie Wednesday.  Let me just say, there was major wedding talk and planning going on.  So fun!

**  Kelli and I went to the movies last night in our little local theater.  We went an saw the new Disney movie "Planes, Fire and Rescue."  This was not my favorite Disney movie, but it had it's really cute moments and some pretty good music.  However, we had a great time.  We were the only ones in the theater watching this movie.  We laughed and talked and had a great time.  I mean how often can you take a picture like this and not get hollered at by someone for having your camera on.

**  I've been working on making some more stuff for my Etsy Shop.  I am having so much fun with this.  I haven't sold too much yet, but I have sold and that's exciting.

**  Heading out for dinner with hubby tonight.  I asked for pizza.  We have a really good pizza parlor about 15-20 minutes from us that I really love.  Can't wait.  We may even go and look at some vans.  Who knows?

Well that's all for now.  Hope you all have a great weekend.

I have nothing special to post or to talk about today.  I saw this video on FB this morning and thought it was really cute.  If you have a couple minutes, enjoy!

Hope it made you smile!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. When I look at the sky I feel amazed. I think about how amazing God is.  Some days he just totally outdoes Himself. When I look at a night starlit sky I ofter wonder how can anyone not believe in God.  Below are a few pictures I took last year on vacation in Myrtle Beach.  The sky and also the beach always make me thing of God!

2. If you had to run for political office, which one would you run for? Do you have any real desire to actually do this? President of the USA.  No, I actually do not have any desire to do this.  I have no interest in running for any political office.  But since you said, if you "had" to run...I figured I might as well go to the highest office.  lol

3. What scent makes you think of home?
I have to say I've never thought about this before.  But maybe vanilla.  That is always my favorite scent in candles, etc.

4. How often do you take a step back to think about where you're headed in life? Do you need more or less self-reflection?
I think about getting our house paid off (3 years) and retiring.  But I try not to worry about it too much and just live day by day.

5. July is National Ice Cream Month...besides a cone, what's your favorite food item to top with ice cream?
Chocolate cake and then had hot chocolate and whip cream.  In other words, hot-fudge cake.  Kinda like this.
This pic is from the internet and it appears to be from Frisch's Big Boy Restaurant

6. What might your autobiography be called?
Wow!  Tough question.  The only thing that comes to mind is "Loved by God!"  Of course, we could all say that.

7. Your least favorite mode of transportation? Why?
Maybe a skateboard? I never could learn how to ride one.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Hubby and I are shopping for a vehicle.  We're looking for a 2011-2012 Chrysler Town and Country.  Kerri's hoping we find one soon, so she can have our old van.  Kelli is looking for her first car.  She definitely needs one before she moves to Florida. Definitely car shopping time for this family.

National Ice Cream Day - Sunday

Did you know that Sunday was National Ice Cream Day?  Hubby told me and then I knew I just had to have an ice cream.  haha  Like I really need an excuse.

We stopped at our local UDF in the afternoon to get an ice cream.  I wanted chocolate chip, but they were out.  Really!  How in the world are you out of Chocolate Chip?  But anyway, fortunately, I'm not too terribly picky.  I got a Cookies and Cream instead.  Delicious.  Still had most of it left when we got home, so of course, Miss Lucy thought she needed some.

Yummy! Cookies & Cream

Mommy, Can I please have some of your ice cream, please, please, please?

Thank you mom!  That was so good!!
Personally, I think we should have National Ice Cream Day, 2 or 3 times a year.  What about you, did you celebrate National Ice Cream day?

Friday Fragments and SkyWatch Friday

It's time once again to join with Mrs. 4444's for Friday Fragments.  Click here to go to Half Past Kissin' Time to link up with the others playing along.

If you're here because of SkyWatch Friday, you'll find my pictures toward the end of this post.  Click here to link up with SkyWatch.

Now for my Fragments:

*  As I said in Wednesday's post, I finally opened an Etsy Shop.  The name is "Simple Treasures by Cat.  So far, I have posted some crocheted items and some beaded bracelets.  I'll be adding some different kinds of items as time goes on.  Click here, if you'd like to visit my shop or you can click in the sidebar also.

*  We've got a new wedding date now.  Kerri and Charlie are now planning an April, 2015 wedding.  They have selected a venue and she has picked her wedding dress.  Things seem to be going pretty smoothly on that front.

*  Tracy, Kelli and I had to do some major trimming (this is the 2nd time this year they've been done) to the bushes in the front yard the other night.  I cannot believe how fast they grow.  They definitely look a little better now. As you can see in the SkyWatch photos below, we need to do some work on the bushes you can see in this picture.  They all seem to be taking over this year.  haha

*  And now for SkyWatch Friday.  These are a couple of photos I took from our back yard the other evening.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. The month of July was named for Roman Emperor Julius Caesar. He's quoted as saying, 'Experience is the teacher of all things." So what has experience taught you lately?
I prefer what my husband says: Experience is not the best teacher, example is. Learning by example is usually must less painful than experience.

2. Where did you last 'roam'?
2 weeks ago we drove along the Ohio River from Cincinnati through to Madison, Indiana on Friday and then from Cincinati to Maysville, KY and back.  Saw some beautiful and interesting sites along the river.  Hoping to go back again soon and see some more.

3. Speaking of 'Rome'...pizza, pasta, gelato...you can only pick one, which would you choose?
Pizza with extra cheese, mushrooms, and tomatoes

4. 'Rome wasn't built in a day', 'All roads lead to Rome', 'When in Rome...' which 'Roman' idiom have you most recently encountered? Explain.
How about "All roads lead to Rome." Because of that weekend of heading both east and west they still all led us back to home in a days time.

5. What's a movie you've seen or a book you've read, that makes you want to book a trip to Italy?
Can't say I really have much of a desire to go to Italy.   But actually "Rome Adventure with Troy Donahue and Suzanne Pleshette used to be a favorite movie of mine.  I haven't seen it in years though.

6. Walt's original Disneyland opened almost sixty years ago, on July 17, 1955 Have you ever been to the California park? How about any of the other Disney parks around the world? What's your favorite amusement park ride or attraction?
No, I have never been to Disneyland.  I have, however, been to Disney World many times.  Of course, if you've ever been here before, you probably already know this.  My favorite ride or attraction, would be The Haunted Mansion and Space Ship Earth in EPCOT.  You know, this is really hard for me to answer because I love so many of them.  It would be so much easier to say which one I don't like, because there are very few.

7. It's that time of year...when were you last bitten or stung?
Out in my own yard on one of my fingers by a mosquito.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
I finally opened my Etsy Shop.  I only have 5 items listed, but at least it's open.  If you're interested, it's called "Simple Treasures by Cat",  Here's a link.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Joyce says:  "We've hit Edition #180 in the Wednesday Hodgepodge Hodgepodgers! Whoohoo! You know the drill...answer on your own blog, then hop back here (not here, but to Joyce's - Click the blue button on the left) tomorrow to share answers with the universe. Newcomers are always welcome to join the party! See ya there!"

1. Speaking of 180...when was the last time you 'did a 180' on something?
How about...last night when I flipped from one side to the other in bed?  :)

2. It's Independence Week in the US of A! What's your favorite thing about America right this very minute? Favorites only! Let's hear what you love about America.

If you're playing along today, and you're not an American but have been to America, what do/did you like best about this country? If you've never been to America, do you have any desire to visit? What's the number one thing you'd like to see?
I love how God has so richly blessed our country.  There are so many beautiful things in nature here.  From the Grand Canyon to the beautiful coastlines on the East and West and on and on.  We truly are blessed with so much natural beauty in our country.

3. Stars or stripes? Red, white, or blue? Watermelon, homemade vanilla ice cream, or blueberry pie?
Stars - because they remind me of our beautiful night skies.  Blue - for out beautiful blue lakes, rivers and oceans.  Homemade vanilla ice cream - for it's delicious simplicity.

4. When did you last see stars, figuratively speaking?
I can't even think when the last time may have been.

5. 'Clear as a bell', 'with bells on', 'lots of bells and whistles', 'saved by the bell'...which phrase 'rings' truest for you lately? Have you ever seen The Liberty Bell?
Lots of bells and whistles - I have a feeling there will be a lot of these as my daughter plans her upcoming wedding - but I intend to enjoy every minute to the fullest.  No, I've never seen the Liberty Bell, but I would surely love to.

6. Are you caught up in World Cup fever? Have you watched a lot or a little or none at all?
No, I am not the least bit interest and I haven't watched any of it.

7. Bid farewell to June in 10 words or less.
Thank you for time spent with Kelli before she moves.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
How about a couple froggy funnies from FB.

Amen!

Lucy

On Friday, I asked you all what you thought of PetSmart and their grooming department. Well, we got an appointment for 7:00am on Saturday morning. I don't know what I was thinking when I told them we'd come at 7:00am on our only real day off. Brain fart, I guess. Anyway, we were there just before 7:00. As they were checking us in, I remembered I forgot to bring the proof of her rabies shot. Guess what? They can't groom her without it. So we had to reschedule. Fortunately, they had a 3:30 appointment available on Saturday.

So back home we went. We dropped Lucy off and hubby and I went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. After I found her shot record and put it in my purse. No way would I let that happen again. haha

Anyway, we went back for her appointment, with shot record in hand. They said it would be about 3 hours or so. That rather shocked me. I never dreamed it would take that long. So hubby and I ran around for a bit and then came back and watched through the window. I'm sure we looked goofy, because we were trying to hide so she wouldn't see us.

Anyway, I think they did an awesome job. She got the full works, bath, haircut, teeth brushed, nails cut and ground smooth. She even got a little 4th of July bow in her hair. Isn't she adorable!

So, if your dog needs a grooming, I'd recommend PetSmart. Just don't forget your rabies' shot record.

Have a great day!!
