Thankful Thursday on Friday

Good Morning:

I've been kind of absent around here this week.  There is nothing wrong.  I just haven't had much to say.  But I missed my Thankful post last week and I'm a day late, but I really didn't want to miss it again.  I'll be linking up with Jennifer here.

I stole the above photo from my daughter's Instagram.  This is her latest painting and I love it so much.  She used gold gilding in places and it's beautiful.  I'll try to get a better photo later to post or you can check out her Insta account at klsg.art.  I am so proud of her and thankful that she is pursuing her God-given talent of painting.  I'm also thrilled that she and I are doing a Bible study together.  I love discussing the things of God with her.

I'm thankful that my sister and I got to got to lunch together on Monday and then we went shopping for a while.  It's been a bit since we've had time to do this.  The picture of the goose is from when we walked out of Outback and there were 2 of these very large geese, but I was only able to get this picture of one.  I don't think they liked me messing around to get this photo instead of just walking by.  lol

I'm so grateful for the lovely blue skies and nice weather we've had this week.  This picture is from last week, but this is pretty much what most of my walks looked like this week.
I so enjoy Amazon sometimes.  I'm hoping this will be a favorite of mine very soon.  It's so pretty and I'm hoping it will be very comfortable in my hands when I crochet.  If I like it as much as I hope I will, I can see some more of these being ordered in different sizes in the future.  I ordered it last night and will get it on Sunday.

I also ordered this last night.  I've been wanting a digital scale as the scale I have is not very accurate and it's hard to know exactly what I weigh sometimes.  Maybe that's a blessing.  lol

I'm thankful for this author and the books I've read by her.  This is the last book in the 2 series I have been reading this year.  I'm hoping to finish it this weekend.  I have enjoyed them all so much.  The one right before this one took me a bit to get into, but I ended up loving it too.

I'm going to have to end this here as I have to get cleaned up to go to lunch with my mother-in-law.  Take care my friends and I hope you have a blessed weekend.

Tuesday 4 - Art

Art

From Annie:  "Hi Friends and welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we give you 4 questions each week to ponder and answer.  It also gives you a chance to see how other Bloggers feel about things and an opportunity to make new friends.

This week let's talk about art."

1. Are you artistic in any way and if so, how so? Knitting, crochet, drawing, painting, writing lovely word art, home décor, lovely meals?  There are many ways to be artistic. I do not knit except by loom or by knitting machine.  I do crochet.  I don't draw, paint, write lovely word art and I'm okay at home decor, and lovely meals...not really.

2. Does any art hang on your walls or grace your tables or shelves at home? How about your front door or windows.. what about your yard?  I do have several of my sister's paintings and drawings.  She was awesome but unfortunately her strokes took that away from her.

This is one of her pencil drawings that I love.

I also have paintings from my daughter.

She drew this for me a long time ago and I still love it

Here's one from a few years ago.  I think she sold it though.

3. Do you have a favorite artist or artists and do you have a favorite piece of art? I'd say my sister and my daughter are my favorites.  But I also love Norman Rockwell and Thomas Kincade

4.  Home décor can be art. When you  bought things for your home did you plan out the décor or did it all just fall together. Was there a theme?  I've always said my decor style is Early American Garage Sale.   My mom and sister are both awesome at decorating and I think sometimes that intimidates me.  But  I buy things and display things I like.  And that makes me happy.   I bought a couple fall things yesterday to put out and I have some from past years also.  Hope to put them out this week.

I hope you enjoyed your visit here and that you link up and participate too.  The link is at the top of the post at the blue word Art.

Have a great day!

Friday Photos

Last Saturday, after having lunch with my sister and her husband and hubby and his mom as we were driving home, I saw this mural.  I just love murals painted on the sides of buildings like this.  Just so happened, there was a whole row of open parking spots, so I pulled in and jumped out and grabbed these photos.  Isn't this mural beautiful?

Wilmington, OH

Last Friday hubby and I were driving through our town I saw the train waiting at the train station.   I couldn't resist snapping a photo.  I usually am the one driving, but hubby drove this day, so I was able to snap these photos.  I love our little town.

You can see the engineer in this photo.  I just noticed there is a little
library in this photo.  Think I'll grab some books I've been wanting to
donate and see if there's room to add them here.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great weekend.

Ask and Ye Shall Receive

I saw a painting on Etsy last week that I really liked and I told Kelli that I'd love to have something similar to that hanging in my office.  It's so bright, plus I love the scripture.  So guess what, she painted it for me.  It's beautiful and I can't wait to hang it.  Of course, it's raining today, so I didn't bring it in, because I don't want it to get wet. But hopefully, before the week is out it'll be in my office.  Although, I'm enjoying it at home right now.

So, what do you think?  Didn't she do a great job? It's so wonderful having an artist in the family!

Have a great day!

A Painting instead of Friday Frags

We've had a fairly quiet week (at least nothing too interesting to write about). So I thought I'd show you a picture of a couple of paintings my daughter just did last weekend. I love these. The pictures aren't the best quality because she sent them from her phone, but her paintings are awesome (is a mom allowed to say that?).

I am so asking for her to do one for me for a Christmas present.  I just need to decide what saying I want.

Oh yeah! I just remembered.  One thing I did this week was make plane reservations for Kelli to fly home for Christmas break!  Can't wait to see her.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Bragging Again!

Over the weekend I got a Multimedia message from Kelli. This is what she sent and she titled it Doodle.

Sure wish I could "doodle" like that. Now it's not the best qualitity photo because it's just from her phone, but my goodness that girl has some talent. I'm allowed to brag because she sure didn't get this talent from me. I can't even draw a stick figure. lol

Proud Mama Showing Off Some New Artwork by Kelli

My daughter has been working on her drawing talents. This is her first paid commission for a portrait. I think it's awesome! I can seeing her talent growing and growing. She took a picture with her cell phone and then sent it to my phone and I forwarded it to my email, so the quality isn't that great. But you can get the idea from this. So here is the original picture and her partially completed drawing and then the second is the completed drawing.

Random Pictures and Stuff

I haven't been taking a lot of pictures lately for some reason.  I actually hadn't downloaded my camera since February.  Actually I've started taking a few more pictures again in the last week or so.  Still not enough to go back to project 365.  But hopefully, I will soon.  Well tonight I downloaded my pictures and I found a few I thought I'd share with you all.  Hope you enjoy.

A painting Kelli did for school.  Pretty awesome!  Her teacher must have thought so too because he entered it in an art show.

Kelli after eating a blue sucker at church

One of the guys I work with brought his dog in to visit.  Isn't he cute?

A beautiful tree out in the front lawn of where I work.

Another beautiful tree behind where I work.

Blooms off 2 of my magnolia bushes.

My new toy.  Hubby got me an iPod Touch for an early Mother's Day gift.  I must say I have truly been enjoying playing with it.

Art Exam

Kelli had an art exam this morning and the exam was to do a water color picture of something they wanted. Evidently she and her boyfriend like pandas so he suggested she do a panda. She wanted more color for the painting so she decided to do this guy, Kung Fu Panda. I think she did an awesome job especially considering she had to do it so quickly and it's water colors. This picture was taken with her cell phone camera so it's not as clear as it could be. I can't wait to see it for real. In my opinion, God has really blessed her with a lot of talent!

Christmas Carolers

Each year our church does a small booklet filled with Christmas memories, recipes, poems, etc and each year Kelli draws a picture for the cover. This is what she drew for this years booklet. If you click on the picture, you can see it enlarged.

Christmas Bell

My daughter had an assignment for her art class to paint a white sleigh bell with a winter scene. This bell will then be taken to one of our shops downtown and put on display for a week. Anyone can stop in and vote for their favorite bell. On next Saturday the bells will be auctioned off and the money is to be donated to benefit Bridge Riding for the Disabled. So if you plan to be in our area this week and want to vote, send me an e-mail and I'll tell you which store and where they will be. And if you want a beautiful bell, be there next Saturday for our Christmas Festival and place a bid in the Silent Auction.

Now, let me show you some pictures of my daughter's bell. She painted several scenes from "Narnia" and I think it's beautiful!!!

Kelli's Painting

Kelli is taking 2 different art classes this year and one of them is painting. She has always told me she couldn't paint, but I think she's awesome. So does her teacher. Anyway, she had a project due Friday, but she talked the teacher into letting her turn it in on Tuesday, because she had a little more she wanted to do to the picture.

Here she is working in her room

Here you can actually see her working on the painting. The top is a photo from the internet and the bottom is her painting. Here it is after it's finished showing both the picture and her painting.
Here's a close-up of the painting. If you click on the picture you can enlarge it to really see it better.

Now, I have no intention of asking if a mother can be proud, because this mother is very proud of her daughter and her awesome talent!
