It's time for Five Minute Friday where we are given a prompt and have five minutes to write about it. You can go here to join up with FMF if you'd like.
Today's prompt is: Steady
Steady as she goes (keep on at the same speed and the same direction)
Steady rain (just a nice even rain, not a downpour)
Going Steady ( dating relationship commitment to one person)
Steady is a nice word. I like having a steady friend, someone who I can count on. Someone who will be there when I need to talk or vent or cry. But no matter how steady a friend they may be, they can't always be there. No one could be there last year when I had to go through those surgery room doors to have a mastectomy. Not even my husband.
But you know there is one friend who can be (and was) with me all the time no matter what and that is Jesus. Not only can He be with me, He promised He would never leave me. He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. No one is more steady than He is. Thank you Jesus!
Cathy
I like the word 'steady', too. It makes me want to be a better person, the kind who is unflustered by life's weirdnesses.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!

Thank you Andrew.
DeleteI didn't really think about all that Steady embodies until I had to think about and write on it. :) I'm so sorry you had to have a mastectomy, but how beautiful it is that Jesus was with you (and is, of course!) through that and all that, no doubt, followed.
ReplyDeleteI liked how you shared the different definitions. You made me think. :)
Thank you Jeanne.
DeleteThank you, Jesus. He is always faithful. So glad to have stopped by tonight, my #fmf friend. I'm #5. Thank you for reminding me that he is the one true and steady friend. :)
ReplyDeleteYes He is. Thank you for visiting.
DeletePrayers for you, Cathy! You words speak such truths. No one is more steady than Jesus, our best friend! Amen!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your prayers Bonnie.
DeleteThankful for your steadiness in the midst of difficulties...didn't know about your surgery last year...so thankful Jesus is the steady rock in your life as He is mine. And yes, where would we be without our steady husbands, family and friends? I also like it when someone holds the ladder steady when I have to climb! Have a steady, beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteYes, I want someone to hold that ladder steady also.
DeleteGrateful for truly knowing we can rely on His steady when life's storms knock us down. I hope your recovery process is steady, too. Thank you for sharing your post. Visiting from FMF. Happy Writing!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting.
DeleteI love the direction your post took on today's prompt. Mine went off on a total tangent. My brain does that more often than I'd like to admit. I bet people wonder if I'm on drugs half the time. LOL
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say I have never wondered that. lol
DeleteSuch a lovely reminder of His sure and steady presence! You have a beautiful story of His faithfulness in the midst of great trial. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marie. God has been so good to me.
ReplyDeleteHe is the Steady through all the storms.
ReplyDeleteAmen! I can't imagine how people can go through life's storms without Jesus. Thanks for stopping by my blog, today, and leaving a comment. Have a happy 4th of July!
