I had my regular check-up yesterday at the Doctor's. I don't know about you, but I really hate going to the doctor. I definitely have that white coat syndrome. If I were honest, I'd have to say I think it's mostly because I hate getting on the scale! ha!
Anyway, first thing I walked in, I had to get on the scale and I survived that, but then they wanted to check my height! 5'3 1/2" Really!! Are you kidding me? I've always been 5'4 1/2". I mean, I've never been tall, but now I'm an inch shorter!!! I said something to the nurse and she said it happens to all of us! If I shrink any more, I'll be shorter than my oldest daughter and then she will win! She's always wanted to be taller than me and now there's just about a 1/2" between us. Whatever will I do?
So really, getting older and forgetting things, and having extra aches and pains, and needing glasses, and hot flashes, etc aren't enough! Now I have to get shorter too! I mean, come on, if I have to shrink, why in the world can't it be around instead of up and down. Heaven knows I really need to lose weight. But no! I have to shrink in height instead of weight! Oh well, guess I might as well laugh about it, otherwise, I might start crying! haha
I want to know one thing. Who in the world said these are the "golden years"? Are they crazy!! Tell me, are you shrinking too?
I was just measured & I'm now 5'7 1/2 ... I was right at 5'9 in high school!!! I cried for hours when I got my new measurement! :(
ReplyDeleteI haven't shrunk any yet, but my mom is definitely smaller.
ReplyDeleteUnrelated, but to answer your question about domain-I now own the name fromthissideofthepond.com...just means no one else can use it. There's probably more, but that's the main thing for me.
Cathy, I'm currently 4'11", so I can just imagine what it will be like when I hit my 60's! Not good!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not in my 60's yet. But I can't say I'm real thrilled about it. But I choose to just laugh and not worry about it. Maybe I need to start doing stretch exercises! haha
DeleteI have been the "Little woman" in our home for ears. I'm 5'6" and the shortest one here! Hubby is 6'4", son is 6"1", and daughter is 5'9". Sorry, it's not bad being the shortest, really. They have to get down all those dishes on the top cabinets now for you. As for hot flashes, I have no experience at that all. I never had even 1 hot flash. My doctor said something to the effect of "Well the change was easy for you, not one complaint?" I looked at her like she had 3 heads. "Well your blood work says you are all done." Apparently, not everyone gets hot flashes and I was one of them.
ReplyDeleteSo did they send you for a bone density test?! Welcome to the world of osteopenia and osteoporosis! So far I've only lost about 1/2 an inch and getting on the medication stopped it. Fun times. . . .
