If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Black and White Memories

I'm joining in again with Terri for Black and White Wednesday.  I so enjoy sharing my pictures.  But I also love looking at everyone else's pictures too.  If you'd like to participate, go here to Terri's page to link up.  We'd love to see your pictures.

Dad and Mom on a date

Mom in school...I don't know what age

Mom's engagement photo.

Dad and Mom's Wedding Photo.  Their wedding day was dad's 22nd birthday and mom's 17th birthday.  Made it easy on them both to remember each other's birthday and anniversary!
Dad always said he married mom because she could milk a cow and he wanted a farm some day and mom said she married dad so she never had to milk a cow again.  You know what?  Mom won!  She never milked a cow after they were married.  However, dad sort of won too.  He did get his small farm (about 20 acres) and did have a milk cow for about a year, but mom never milked it.  She said, I'll take care of the milk, make butter or cream or whatever, but I will not milk it and she never did.  lol
Mom with her first baby, my brother Larry.  He looks almost as big as her.  lol  She was 18 years old.
I love seeing all these pictures we looked at all our lives.  I believe I had the best parents and brothers and sisters in the world.  I'm so proud to be part of this family.

Okay, So here is one more picture for this post.  Below is a black and white photo of all 5 of us kids.  Take a look and have a laugh.  It makes me smile and happy every time I see it.

Larry, Karen (in striped pants), me, Beverly hold Jeff.  There were 12 years between the oldest (Larry) and the youngest (Jeff)  The year Larry started college, Jeff started 1st grade.
Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Mom

It was three years ago today that you left us, mom.  I thought it was supposed to get easier with time.  But I think I may be getting harder.  I miss you and would love to be able to talk to you again. Although, there is no way I'd ask you to leave where you are to come back here.  Some day I'll get to see you in heaven and that will surely be a wonderful time.  I love you and miss you.

Currently...

August 27, 2018

Currently I am....

Reading:  Light from Heaven by Jan Karon and Normal Is Just a Setting on Your Dryer by Patsy Clairmont

Listening to:  Southern Gospel on Pandora.  Right now it's Karen Peck and New River.

Crafting:  A baby blanket...crocheting using Bernat Blanket Yarn, which I love because it's so soft and plush.

Working on it in the van on Saturday
Thinking:  It's about time to start planning our November vacation.

Feeling:  Blessed to have a good job and plenty of vacation time.

Celebrating:  Another birthday for my hubby.  It was Saturday and we spent the entire day together, just the two of us.  So nice.

Grateful for:  Each day I'm on this side of the dirt.  lol

Weather:  Bright and sunshiny, but hot and humid.

A quote I want to share:

I hope you are having a wonderful day.  Thank you for visiting.

Friday Foto Friends

Click here if you'd like to participate.

Here are some photographs from my week.  I didn't take very many pictures. In fact, I took these flower pictures last night just to have something to post. 😊

This coleus has grown like crazy.  I had no idea that they would have blooms.

I can't believe my hanging baskets are still alive.  I've usually managed to kill them by now.  lol
The neighbor's hibiscus.  These blooms are the size of a large saucer.

Our roof and gutters are finished.  So happy to have this work completed.

Crochet project I haven't worked on in awhile.  Unfortunately Colton got ahold of it when he was here and I had some tangles to work out.  lol

I completed the scarf Wednesday evening.

And I couldn't resist showing this picture his mommy sent me.  Somebody got in mommy's make-up.  Doesn't he look so proud of himself.  Makes me laugh every time I see it.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great weekend.

Thankful Thursday

Click here to visit Rebecca Jo from Knit by God's Hand.

Today I am thankful for:

**Audiobooks from my library: I have completed two books this week. One was called Echo which was very interesting. It was about 3 different people that had come across the same harmonica over a period of years and how the harmonica impacted their lives.  These three did not realize the harmonica was charmed. Each of their stories were very interesting and then in the end they all came together but none of them knew the other had had the harmonica in a very trying time in their life. I would definitely recommend listening to this story. The other one I finished was only about an hour and half long. It was Dolly Parton’s Book called Dream More and she’s the one who read it. It was so good and very inspiring and also very funny at times. She also sang on it a little too.  I so adore Dolly and it was so cool getting a glimpse into her thoughts and ideas as written and read by her.

**Cooler weather:  While I know it’s not going to last, I’m enjoying it immensely while it’s here.  I took Lucy out for a short, quick walk this morning around 6:30 and had on a hoodie but I was still a little chilly.  Now that's not a complaint, just a fact.  It could stay like this year round and I'd be happy.

**Friends:  I'm so thankful for time after church last night to talk with a good friend.  So many times we are in such a hurry to leave, we don't take time to talk.  It was really nice to just stand around and talk.  I think we both needed it.  Hubby was wonderful about it too.  He just got in the van and played on his phone and didn't make me feel rushed at all.  And yes, I am so thankful to have him for my husband.

**Blogging Friends:  I'm also thankful for each one of the blogging friends I've made over the years.  I'm thankful for the comments and for the memes you host, which gives me something to blog about.  I hope each one of you have a blessed day.

Black and White Wednesday

I'm participating in Black and White Wednesday again.  You can link up with Terri here.

Today I am sharing a photograph of my daddy's family.  It's the only photo that I am aware of that has his mom and dad and all of the brothers and sisters.  A family member recently shared this on FB and I'm so thrilled to have it now.  My daddy is in the 5th from the left in the standing row.  All have now passed on and are in heaven except one brother and he is standing in back of and between his mom and dad.  Thankfully, I was blessed to know each one of them and so thankful for their lives.

Thank you for visiting.

Fun with Flowers

My sister asked me to go to a flower arranging class with her on Saturday at Oberer's Florist.  Their advertisement showed a beautiful arrangement of roses and carnations and I'm thinking there is no way I could do something like that.  But, I didn't want to tell my sister no, so I went.

Even when I got there and saw all the people and the tables set up with the flower pots and greenery sitting around and buckets of flowers for us to choose from, I was thinking, what in the world am I doing here.  I can't do this.  I have absolutely no talent for this.  I've never been able to make a pretty arrangement.  I just kinda stick them in a vase or something when I get flowers.

Anyway, I was there, so I participated.  And you know what, it was really fun.  It was fun just doing something different with my sister and the people were so nice and patient.  And everyone was involved in what they were making and not watching everyone else.  So it was okay and I even told her if she wanted to do it again sometime just let me know.

Here are a few pictures from that day.

Each participant started with a spot set up like this
Here's one of the tables set up to start

You can see my roses and some of the carnations I picked and we've started adding the new from the table

This is my sister's in the process

Starting to add the roses

This is one that one of the employees made along with us

So, if you ever get the chance to take a flower arranging class, I highly recommend it.  It was a lot of fun.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

Friday Foto Friends

I didn't take too many pictures this week, but I still wanted to participate in Friday Foto Friends.  Click here if you'd like to participate too.

Most of these pictures were sent to me by our girls or I "stole" them off of FB from my girls.

Grandson Colton sitting on his Aunt Kelli!  I think he won that round!  lol

Playing in the back yard at his Aunt Kelli's house in Florida

Playing in the rain

Peek-a-Boo!  He just looks so happy in these pictures.

Sparkly eyes.  I gotta try to blow this one up and frame it for my house.

Mommy and Colton
Thanks for indulging this Gigi and letting me post pictures of my favorite subjects.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Thankful Thursday

This week I am so thankful for the couple days I got with both of my girls at the same time and plus my grandson was there too.  It's been about 2 years since the 4 of us have been together and then to have the baby there too was just absolutely wonderful.

I'm also very thankful that with all the flying and traveling they did, they were safe and never missed a flight (although a couple were delayed which caused more time sitting at airports for them).  God has been so good.

The precious time sitting in this chair with my grandson watching TV together are memories I will never forget.  I just love this little boy so much.  And then he fell asleep against my arm and you better believe this Gigi didn't move a muscle because I didn't want to disturb him.  This was the most time I've ever got to spend with him and I want more.  lol  He is just so precious and ornery and I love it all.  Unfortunately, I didn't take very many pictures, because I was too busy just enjoying him.  But at least my girls took some for me.

So what are you thankful for this week.  You can click here if you'd like to link up with Thankful Thursday.

Thanks for visiting.

Thankful Thursday

Things I am thankful for today:

This little guy and his mama

My nephew and his new bride.  Such a lovely couple.

The roofers came last Thursday and finished yesterday and God protected us for the last month or two that with all the rain, we had no more leaks.  Thank you Jesus.
Time with this girl and her boyfriend this weekend.  So much fun!

Birthday breakfast out with my hubby Saturday.

If you'd like to participate in Thankful Thursday, just write your post and click here to link up.

Thanks for visiting.
