1. What's something about Christmas that most people like, but you don't? Elaborate.
Honestly, I can't think of anything. I love Christmas and most everything about it.
2. Tell us about one cherished tradition from your childhood and if you'll make it happen this year?
Being with family is my favorite memories. We won't be with our girls (except through live video (I may need to check into Zoom) and we won't be with my brother and sisters but we may get to talk by phone or text. Hubby and I do plan to go to his mom's and have lunch together (we've already made a menu) and we're hoping maybe his brother and his family may come. They don't really like to get out around other people right now and I totally understand that.
3. In 1941 FDR declared December 15th Bill of Rights Day. Citizens were encouraged to fly the flag and gather for prayers and other ceremonies as appropriate. Did you know this? I may have at one time but surely didn't remember it. Will you fly a flag? No, as I didn't know it and it will be dark by the time I get home. Can you name all the rights and protections guaranteed in the first ten amendments of the US Constitution? No, I cannot. Of the ten, which two do you value most? If you need a list you'll find one here. I think all of them are good and important, but if I have to choose 2, these would be it, I think.
#1
- Freedom of speech
- Freedom of the press
- Freedom of religion
- Freedom of assembly
- Right to petition the government
#4
- Protection against unreasonable search and seizure
- Protection against the issuing of warrants without probable cause
4. Do you know someone named Bill? I know some Bills, but no one I'm really close to at this point in life Tell us something about him? Probably my favorite Bills are 2 different uncles I had growing up. They were both really great men and I miss them. Is there a famous 'Bill' you'd like to meet? Can't think of one right off the top of my head.
5. A step in the right direction, on the right track, bragging rights, be in the right place at the right time, get off on the right foot, right as rain, right side up, give your right arm for, have one's heart in the right place...choose a 'right' that applies to your life in some way in recent days and tell us how it's so.
On the right track...I believe I'm on the right track to be able to be retired by this time next year. Hopefully, I'm stepping in the right direction and I'll have bragging rights and be in the right place at the right time for retirement. Hopefully, I'll get off the on right foot to do retirement right as rain and won't have to give my right arm for it. Also hoping my heart will be in the right place and I'll always land right side up!

{{grin}} I love the quote from ELF. I enjoyed your answers, hope you have a beautiful day friend, smiles.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote too.
DeleteGreat job on #5! It must be exciting to have a retirement plan in action for next year. I need to watch Elf again :)
ReplyDeleteCan you tell I'm a little excited about getting close to retirement. lol
DeleteHi Cathy... good luck on reaching your retirement. I love ELF so much - the movie, the quotes, etc. Great random thought. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and commenting. I love that quote and music really does help to adjust my attitude.
DeleteLove that Elf quote!
ReplyDeleteIt does seem that you are on the right track for retirement. I did that four years ago. My husband always tells people to retire TO something, not FROM something. Focus forward.
Have a good week!
I believe your husband is right and that's what I'm hoping to do.
DeleteFun quote. Glad retirement is around the corner for you. That's great. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI agree with you and everyone else... fun quote! I highly recommend retirement! Good luck with your on-the-right-track plans!!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone has an uncle Bill :) I loved mine so much
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear that by this time next year you will be retired! Praying everything comes together for you to be able to do that as planned. I retired in 2015, and I've never regretted it for one minute. Now I don't know how I ever had time to work! As far as knowing any "Bill's", wow...I should have posted this one. My dad was Bill, his father was Bill, my oldest son is William Benton, and goes by Benton, but some people call him Bill because that is his first name, my brother in law is Billy, and I just found out that my paternal grandmother's birth father's name was William, but he went by his middle name of Fred, which my father's name is also William Fred, but they never knew my grandmother's father or his name as she was adopted. Very interesting. Oh, my father in law's name was also Bill. I had a cousin named Billy, and my next to oldest brother is named William Clifford, but he goes by Clifford. There are probably some others but that's enough for now. LOL. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas no matter how many are gathered together. May the Lord and His birth reign supreme in our hearts and homes!
ReplyDeleteRetirement and a wedding! You have an exciting year ahead. I'm sorry you won't get to see your girls this Christmas and hope all works out for you to see your extended family. Such crazy times! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDelete((Hugs)) This is a hard year for Christmas. Thankfully we do have things like Zoom. That's great news on retiring next year. I love Elf.
