Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for so many things, but here are a few that I'll post today,

* Prayer - What a gift it is to be able to talk to God and know that He listens and cares about us.

*Bible -  And the Bible is where we hear what God has to say to us.  The Bible lets us know that He loves us even before we knew anything about living for Him.

*Christmas - I'm thankful for all the music of Christmas and the fun movies and books about Christmas.  But even more I'm thankful for the gift of Jesus!

*Mercy and Grace - I'm thankful for the mercy and grace of God.  How His mercy is new every morning, as I often need it.  When I don't do what I'm supposed to or when I go way beyond what I should with my words and hurt someone.  Like yesterday, I got irritated with the way my daughter talked to me on the phone and I kind of short-circuited with her and ended the conversation pretty quickly.  The more I thought about it, the more I knew I over-reacted and needed to apologize.  So, I called her back and apologized and she accepted and I know God did too.  We ended up having some fun video chat later that evening.  Mercy and grace...I need them often...like every day.

There are many more things, but that's all I'll post about today.  So what are you thankful for?

  1. Thank you for your honesty and openness about this...I am dealing with something similar right now and now sure how to proceed or "fix" the situation. Still praying about the right approach and asking God to do the "fixing", because I've learned the hard way that I can't do it myself! Yes, mercy and grace go hand in hand, and I know I need it often too. Thank you for this. It's kind of nice to know I'm not alone! Merry Christmas!

    1. Pam, I struggle with being impatient and getting frustrated so easily. But as I get older, I find it's easier for me to apologize and own up to it rather than to just stay mad. The Holy Spirit has a tendency to not let me go, so I just need to admit to my wrong and ask forgiveness. Fortunately my family is pretty forgiving and I try to do the same for them,

  2. Beautiful list, Cathy. Your candor is refreshing; hopefully, it will help me do the same next time. Today I'm most thankful for safe travels to and from Tom's appointment with a new specialist up in Alex City ... dry road conditions ... and a huge welcome home by our crazy fur babies.

  3. (Trying again!)
I'm thankful for a safe journey to and from Tom's new doc up north ... dry road conditions and our pups' exuberance whenever we unlock the front door. Nothing like it!

  4. Cathy, I am so thankful for all these same things! What you said about mercy and grace, though, it's so beautiful. We all get like that from time to time, and it's wonderful when someone offers you the gift of forgiveness. What you said here really resonates with me! Much love, my friend.
