Thankful Thursday

Today, I am thankful for hearing from both of my girls this morning and that they and their families are safe.  God was so good to us and I praise Him for their safety.  We have other family members and so far the ones we've heard from are okay.  I've also read posts from so many of you that have made it through safely.  So today, I am thankful that God took care of you overnight.  I know you may find that you have property damages or no electric, but you have your life and I'm thankful for that this morning.  I will keep praying for the rest of your needs.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

Good morning:  I'm linking up today with Joyce for the Wednesday Hodgepodge.  Hope you will consider joining Joyce today too.

1. Thursday is National Walk To A Park Day. I know these celebratory days are mostly made up, but some are fun to think about. Do you live close enough to a park to walk to one on Thursday? Will you? The most famous park in the world is Central Park located in NYC. Have you ever been to Central Park? What did you think? If you haven't been is this a place you'd like to see?
No, I do not live close enough to walk to a park.  We do have nice parks in our town and surrounding areas.  I have never been to Central Park, however I've seen lots of murders take place there in all the TV series I have watched and continue to watch.  Yes, if I got the opportunity I think I'd like to go to NYC and see the park and many other things.

2. Something you've done recently that turned out to be a 'walk in the park'? Can't think of a thing at the moment.

3. Can you parallel park? Do you have to do this often where you live? Can I...probably.  Will I...not if I can avoid it.

4. The colors of fall...red, brown, russet, golden bronze, golden yellow, purplish red, light tan, crimson, orange red, and scarlet. Are these colors you like to wear? Is this your season in terms of color? What about your home? Would we see these tones in your home decorating?  I don't wear these colors, nor decorate with them except in the fall.  I have a couple orange sweatshirts from past years that I still wear.  My few fall decorations are out right now too.

5. What part of history do you find most interesting? Elaborate. I love reading fiction books about the wagon trains and people heading to the west.  I also enjoy reading fiction books that take place during Biblical Times.

6. Insert your own random thought here. Our crochet group hasn't been together for quite a few weeks now.  We're supposed to meet up this afternoon again.  I'm looking forward to this.
This is what I'm currently working on and have been working on, off and on, for quite some time.

That's about it for me today.  Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a really good day.

Bits of This and That - Hello Monday

Hello:

Here we are at the beginning of another new week.  Mostly last week, was a really good week and most of the weekend was good too.  But as always in life, there were some really hard things.  But I know that God is in control and will take care of all those things too.  He always has and He always will.

On Saturday I spent the morning with my sister.  She was making bread and I wanted to watch and learn, well and of course, taste too.  With all the steps and letting it rise, I was there probably around 3 hours.  When waiting, we worked a puzzle together, which was also a lot of fun.

I love the color of her mixer.

All mixed up and sitting to rise for the first time.

Kneading it to let rise again.

Ready to separate into 2 loaf pans

Rising again in the pans

All done!

So pretty and she gave me a half a loaf to
take home.  It is absolutely delicious!

This is the puzzle we worked together.

Below is the Sunday morning pre-recorded sermon.  Hubby records these during the week and then posts them on YouTube and FB a little after noon on Sunday.

That's about all I have for the weekend.  How was your weekend?  I'd love to know.  I'm linking up today with Holly and Sarah for Hello Monday. Thanks for visiting.

Friday Favorites - October 4, 2024

Andrea and Erika

It's been a pretty good week. And today I am linking up with Friday Favorites.

Potato soup is a favorite this time of the year.  Who am I kidding?  Most soups are a favorite for me in the fall and winter.

I made a pot of potato soup.  Yummy!

And I have leftovers!
I had a cup for my breakfast this morning and
still have enough for another small serving.

Watching Fall-themed Hallmark movies and crocheting is a favorite for me.

I was in the office at church the other day and had everything caught up,
so I found a good Hallmark movie and watched that and did some crocheting.

Puzzle working is a favorite for me at this time of the year and all through the winter.

I finished this puzzle last night and will be heading to my sister's today to
pick up four more to work.

Lucy is definitely a favorite for me.

Took Lucy to the vet yesterday to stay overnight to have her teeth cleaned.
She was nervous but very excited to be in the car going somewhere.
I'm on hold on the phone with them right now, waiting to here how she
did and when she can come home.  We'll be picking her up at 2:00
which gives me time to run some errands first.

Thanks for visiting today.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Share Your Shelf and Thankful Thursday

Today I'm linking up with "Share Your Shelf

Here are the books I read in September:

"Temporary Bride" by Linda Ford

From GoodReads: "Lena Stevens has lived through more than her share of troubles. After losing her mother and father when she was young, Lena learned that every kindness came with obligation. Now a widow with a small child, Lena has lost the one thing she had left: her house. She has no desire to be a burden on her neighbor, even if the man was foolish enough to promise her late husband to watch out for her. But when propriety demands a marriage, Lena makes Anker vow to annul it come spring.

Anker has longed for a wife--but not like this. A forced marriage. A pretend marriage. HeH will do what he must to protect Lena and Charlie throughout the winter. But as days stretch into months, his admiration for the spirited young woman begins to turn to something else. Something more...

Anker and Lena both had their reasons for wanting a temporary marriage. But when spring arrives, will they regret their vow to end the union?"

"The Homesteader's Sweetheart" by Lacy Williams

From Goodreads:  "Homesteader Jonas White is a single father to a passel of orphaned boys--and the tiny girl whose birth changed his life and got him banished from the only home he'd ever known.

Penny Castlerock is the daughter of a wealthy banker. Far out of Jonas's reach. And the only person in the small Wyoming town who knows his secret.
When a sinister threat chases Penny out of town and to the refuge of Jonas's ranch, she finds herself completely out of her element on the isolated, rustic homestead. And drawn to the handsome rancher and his patchwork family.

*single dad raising orphans
*matchmaking kids
*from different worlds
*heroine on the run"

"An Amish Heart Awakens" by Ruth Troyer

From GoodReads. "After tragedy strikes, Lydia Miller returns to her Amish roots, seeking comfort in the simplicity of her former life. But when her young son, David, befriends the aloof and brooding farmer Jacob Fisher, Lydia finds herself drawn into a relationship she never expected.

Jacob, scarred by his own past, slowly begins to thaw as Lydia and David bring light into his life.

Together, they must confront old wounds and decide whether they are willing to embrace the possibility of new love.

Will their shared sorrows lead to healing and a chance at happiness?"

I enjoyed all three of these books. Christian Romance is my favorite genre to read..
