If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Wednesday Hodgepodge

 1. I write the Hodgepodge questions so they'll post on Sunday, which sometimes throws me off in terms of what day it is. St. Patrick's Day will be celebrated on Monday, March 17th. Did you mark the day in some way? Wear green? Make a special meal? Watch or participate in a parade? No, we didn't do anything related to St. Patrick's Day.

2. Do you think luck plays a part in your life? Explain. No, I really don't.

3. Of the 15 green foods listed, which one is your favorite and how do you like it prepared? Any on the list that are a hard no for you? In general do you like fruits and veggies? As a kid did you eat them willingly or did you hide peas in your napkin hoping your momma wouldn't see?

Asparagus, avocado, broccoli, celery, cucumber, grape, green bean, kale, kiwi, lettuce, lime, pear, peas, pistachios, spinach
Grapes, Asparagus, Green Beans would be my favorite of those above.  Kale and avocado would be my least favorite, although I'm not a fan of celery either.

4. What's something that makes you 'turn green'? (with envy or with illness... whichever way you want to run with it) The only thing I can think of is trying to read a book while riding in a car.  Makes me nauseous pretty quick.

5. Did you spend a lot of time outdoors as a child? Doing what? Do you spend a lot of time outdoors now? Doing what? Yes quite a bit.  Riding bikes, baseball, playing in the woods, swimming the years we had a pool, etc.  No, I don't spend a lot of time outside at this age, except for walking the dog and walking myself.  Sometimes I'll sit out on our front porch and read a book if it's not too hot.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are having a great day.  I plan to have a good day, after I'm finished at the dentist.

Tuesday 4 - The Windy Month

The Windy Month

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we try to have fun answering questions about various subjects.
March, they say, comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.  It is called the windy month like Chicago is called the windy city!

1.  Has March come in like a lion or a lamb in your neck of the woods? It's been a mix, I guess.  We've had several days with some pretty strong winds, but we've been blessed not to have any damage.  We've also had some strong rain and some beautiful warm, sunny days.  I'm trying to enjoy them all.

2. There have been some awful storms of late.. have you suffered through them or have you ever suffered through a very bad storm in your life? (if so we wish you well) I guess we all have had some bad storms in life.  But I know the Master of the storms of life and He goes every step with me.

3. Spring begins March 20th and ends with summer on June 20th this year.  Any plans for Spring in general? How about the spring holidays? No real plans for the holidays yet.  We do start our Ladies' Spring Bible Study tonight.  It's about Heaven and I'm so looking forward to it.

4.  What are your favorite springtime flowers?  Lilacs  Trees or shrubs? Most any blooming tree or shrubs.
Actually they aren't blooming yet.
This photo is from a previous year.

How about a song with a springtime theme to it that you enjoy?  This song is not about spring necessarily, but it goes along with my answer to #2.

The Master of the Wind

My boat of life sails on a troubled sea
Whenever there's a wind in my sails
But I have a friend who watches over me
When the breeze turns into a gale

I know the Master of the wind
I know the Maker of the rain
He can calm a storm,
Make the sun shine again

I know the Master of the wind

Sometimes I soar
Like an eagle through the sky
Among the peaks my soul can be found
But an unexpected storm
May drive me from the heights
It may bring me low,
But cannot bring me down

I know the Master of the wind
I know the Maker of the rain
He can calm the storm,
Make the sun shine again

I know the Master of the wind

He can calm the storm,
Make the sun shine again
I know the Master of the wind
Let Jesus calm the storm
Make the sun shine again

He is the Master of the wind

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.  Thanks Annie for some great questions again.

Currently - March 2025

Today, I am linking up with Jennifer at My Joyful Life for "Currently", the March edition.  We are talking about things we are currently loving, craving, pinning, planning, and appreciating today.  So here I go with my thoughts.

I'm currently loving the book I am reading called Sophie's Heart by Lori Wick.  I have read this book several times over the years and I love it every time.  I'm sure somewhere on my blog I've mentioned this book a time or two.  Actually, I searched and found that I had read it for the third time in 2015.  I enjoy a good book that I can read over and over every couple years or so.

Photo from the Internet

I've been craving anything sugar/chocolate lately, even more than normal.  I'm trying hard to cut back and not eat this too much.  I'm getting more fruit and hoping that will help cut the sugar/chocolate cravings.

I don't have anything to post on the pinnings as I don't do Pinterest any more.  But if I did, I'm sure it would be all about yarn and crochet.

I'm planning on picking up lunch from the Outback because I want a salad from there.  The last couple of days I've been wanting salad for some reason and I think this is where we're going (this is surely a better craving than the sugar/chocolate things).

I'm appreciating my husband very much.  He is always my supporter and yesterday he talked me down off the wall several times.  Funny, I had such a good report from the doctor, but there were other really stressful things going on and between God and my hubby, they calmed me down before I went too far.  After a decent nights sleep and some time with the Word this morning, I'm in a much better space today.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you are having a really good day.

Thankful Thursday

It's rather late today, but here are a couple of things I'm thankful for today:

*  I saw my cardiologist today and all is well.

*  My ekg was normal.

*  My recent echocardiogram was the same as last year...nothing has progressed since last year.  So I'll see him again next year.

Thank you God for your blessings on my health.

What are you thankful for?

Thanks for visiting.

Bits of This and That

Good Morning:

I hope you had a good weekend.  I did and I think I'll share a bit with you.

On Friday, hubby and I each had a chiropractor appointment, then we picked up our grocery order and then went home.  Later I met my sister and we went to Joann's ( the 2 in our area along with many more are closing down), then we hit the health food store, Sam's and Hobby Lobby.  So fun!

I completed this puzzle.

On Saturday, hubby and I spent the entire day at home.  We did some laundry, watched TV, read and relaxed.  I started the day with Bible study and then I watched a couple Hallmark movies, crocheted and enjoyed something warm to drink.  Off and on all day I worked on my blanket and finally finished it right before bed.

Started my Saturday out like this. Movie, Crochet, Hot drink.  Perfect!

I finished this blanket late Saturday night.

On Sunday we went to church and then picked up some lunch from Gold Star Chili and then relaxed for the afternoon and back to church for the evening service.  After church, I started a new blanket.  This one is for me for the back of my chair.  I love starting new crochet projects.

If you have been following along with our study of James, below is the pre-recorded video of #7 in the series.

I loved this weekend and I'm looking forward to a really good week.  I hope you are too.  I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah with Hello Monday.

Thanks for visiting.

Share 4 Something - February 2025

Today is the time for Share 4 Somethings.  Jennifer has given us these prompts to talk about:  things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of.  Here's the Link-up. So here we go!

Things I Loved:  I have really loved reading this month.  I've read six books and I'm in the middle of 3 others.  One of the 3 is a companion book to the Bible Study my daughter and I are doing together.  I also enjoyed working a puzzle earlier in the month and I finished another last night.  I picked up 4 more from my sister yesterday to work.  Puzzles are a good evening activity during this cold weather.

Some Things I've Learned:  I love doing Bible study with my daughter.  I learn so much from her thoughts and hopefully she learns some from me.  I didn't necessarily just learn that this month but it's reinforced every time we do a new one together.

Some Things That Went Well:  I'm almost finished with the current blanket I'm crocheting.  I think I'll probably get it finished before the end of the month (hopefully today) and that makes me happy,

Some Things I Let Go Of:  I was reading the Bible through chronologically and I've done it before.  But I just feel like I'm reading just to say I've done it and wasn't getting too much out of it.  So after talking with hubby, I decided to drop trying to read to a schedule and instead I've decided to start in the Psalms and slow down and try to enjoy and learn what God wants to tell me.  To just spend time in His Presence. I may read one chapter or I may read just 1 verse.  I just want to be with Him.  God wants me to want Him as much as He wanted me. (After all, He sent Jesus to die for me.)  Please understand, I'm not writing this to say reading through the Bible in a year is bad. I think reading through the Bible in a year can be a good thing (and it has been for me in the past) but currently, I just feel this is more what I need.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for God's Word.  I'm currently reading in the Psalms and enjoying them.  I was looking through for a verse to share today and I found this one that I have highlighted at some point.

Psalm 9:10  "Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you."  I know He will never abandon me and that brings such peace.

I'm thankful for:

  • my husband
  • my girls
  • my grandson
  • my sister
  • my brother
  • my mother-in-law
  • my church family
  • my dog
  • my home (we woke up to another fresh layer of snow this morning-which makes me so happy that we have a warm place to live)
There are so many, many more things that I am thankful for.  Most of all my Savior and Lord.

So what are you thankful for today?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Many of our earliest presidents created words or expressions widely used today. Teddy Roosevelt is credited with mollycoddle, pack rat, frazzle, and loose cannon...which of those words/phrases currently relates to your life in some way?  Probably pack rat.  I can be a bit of that, but I'm working on getting rid of a lot of stuff a bit at a time.

2. Have you visited many (or any) of the US Presidents homes, monuments, libraries or related sites?  I've visited a few. If so what's been your favorite? My favorite is Lincoln's Monument for sure. Are there any you particularly want to see? I'd love to see Lincoln's Monument again or anything else connected to him.. Here's a link to presidential sites listed by state which is kind of fun to read-Presidential Places by State. And since several bloggers who participate in the HP each week live outside the US, here's a link to Presidential Places Outside the US. Have you seen any of those? No.

3. February 20th is National Cherry Pie Day...will you celebrate? I don't think so.  Given your choice of cherry pie, cherry cobbler, cheesecake with a cherry topping, or black forest cake which would you choose? Probably black forest cake.

4. Last time you worked a puzzle of some kind? Something that had you puzzled recently? I work word puzzles almost every day.  I've got a jigsaw puzzle laying out for me to start soon.

5. Of the early blooming flowers (January-early March depending on your zone) which one's your favorite? snowdrops, lenten roses, pansies, violets, snapdragons, reticulated iris, crocus, winter jasmine Do you have any of these in your own yard/garden? Of those listed, I would say pansies.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I was on a school trip with my oldest daughter's class.

Thanks Joyce for another week of fun questions. The Hodgepodge Link-up is here. Thanks for visiting my blog.  I hope you have a great day.

Anniversary

Thirty six years ago today, (February 18, 1989) Hubby and I were married.  Best thing I've ever done marrying this man!  Thank you Lord, for bringing us together and giving us all these years together.  I pray we will have many more to be together.

Bits of This and That - Hello Monday

Good Morning Monday and Happy President's Day!!  It's been a nice quiet weekend for Hubby and me.  Again, just the kind I like.

On Friday, we went to church and hubby pre-recorded the Sunday sermon.  However, due to the weather, we didn't have church, so I'll plan to post that sermon next week after he preaches it next Sunday.  After that I ran to Kroger and then we picked up an order for lunch at Cracker Barrel.  We really didn't do anything special for Valentines.  Actually, we seldom do, because our anniversary is the 18th, 4 days after Valentine's. Spent the evening crocheting and watching TV and reading.

Saturday, we spent the day at home all day and I did some reading, watched some TV and did some laundry and just enjoyed our day.

Sunday morning we got up and got ready for church and the longer we were up, we were getting more and more snow.  We ended up canceling church and we spent another day at home.  I didn't measure, but I'd say we ended up with 3-4 inches. Late in the afternoon both of our neighbors came over and cleared our drive and sidewalk.  We have the best neighbors.  I did some Bible Study and also read a lot.  Did some crocheting too.

Some of my favorite moments on Sunday was watching the snow out the windows and listening
to piano music and this fireplace scene.  Also, took a really short nap during this time.

And that folks was my weekend.  So how was yours?  I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah.
