Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's Wednesday, so it must be Hodgepodge time.  Thanks Joyce for all the good questions you give us.  If you'd like to answer these questions, do so on your blog and then click on the button to the left and link up with Joyce.  You won't regret it.  It's a great way to make some new blogging friends.

1. June is National Great Outdoors Month. Have you spent any time appreciating the great outdoors this month? If so where, and if not do you have any plans to enjoy the great outdoors before the calendar turns?
No, I haven't spent much time outdoors this month, unless you count mowing the grass.  I have noticed some really beautiful skies though and have appreciated them by taking a few pictures.

2. What's a current hot button issue for you?
I really can't think of anything right now.

3. What's a food or treat that 'disappears like hotcakes' in your house
Mashed Potatoes...and unfortunately, I'm the one that makes them disappear.  That is why I seldom make them.  However, I did make them tonight (the first time in several months) and I did a fairly good job of making them disappear.  lol

4. How hot is too hot?
If your talking weather then anything above 80 degrees is too hot in my opinion.  I much prefer the 70's.  Unless, of course, I plan to go swimming.  Then it can be a lot hotter.  However, since I don't have a pool or live on the beach, I'd much rather it stay in the 70's.

5. Do you have an artistic outlook on life? What does that mean to you?
No I don't think I do.  I really don't have an artistic bone in my body.

6. What's one question you'd like to ask your father, or one you wish you could ask your father?
I suppose if there were something I really wanted to ask my dad, I already would have done it.

7. Something you learned from your father?
To love good southern gospel music and the old hymns.  While dad has forgotten so many things, he still knows all the words to the old hymns and to the older southern gospel songs.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
After all the warnings I've heard, I've finally decided I need to stop drinking Diet Coke or really any diet pop.  So, I haven't had one since last Thursday.  That's 5 days!  I'm pretty proud of myself.  I'm actually drinking more water and that is something I definitely need to do.

  1. We had mashed potatoes last night for the first time in a long time. I also love them a little too much and never make them for that very reason : ) Good for you and the soda. I pretty much drink just water, although I still drink coffee in the morning and usually a cup of hot tea in the afternoon. After a while you don't miss the soft drinks.

  2. One of my brothers gets really irate if there isn't mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving! We always try to make him go last so everybody else will get some.
The 70's are my ideal temps, too; unfortunately they're gone for now. :(

  3. Good for you in doing away with diet sodas and drinking more water! I think you'll find that you'll begin feeling better, overall! I can't remember the last time I drank a soda.

  4. My hubby loves mashed potatoes, too, and he makes better ones than I do.
I don't have an artistic bone in my body either...Ha! Now I know I'm not alone, huh?
Kudos for giving up the diet sodas!

  5. GOOD FOR YOU!! It's hard to stop drinking something you are so used to. Keep at it! I bet you loose weight too for not drinking it - even though its Diet.
More reason you can now eat mashed potatoes... MMMMM... can never get enough of them.

  6. Yes, I agree with Rebecca, I bet you will lose weight automatically by giving up DC, it has so much sodium in it. And, I started drinking water in lieu of all drinks except my morning coffee and the longer I drank it the more I liked it and craved it. I drink it all day long now. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I gave up Diet Coke for Lent, and I do think drinking more water helped me lose some weight before our son's wedding. I have gone back to drinking it, though. We are definitely better off without it!

  8. Kudos to you on the diet cokes. I feel so much better and have so much more energy since I quit drinking them. I blogged about it here: http://www.nelfast.blogspot.com/2015/01/changes-in-my-life.html
I can tell a big difference - has been 2 years and I do not miss them at all.

  9. Well when you are mowing the grass you are outside and the skies are amazing. I am a sky watcher. Way to go on not drinking soda. I stopped drinking soda about 15 years ago. My husband still loves diet coke but I won't buy it for him, he has to pick it up himself!
