Tuesday 4 - The Internet Age

 The Internet Age

From Annie - Welcome weather weary friends to another episode of Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we challenge you to answer 4 questions on different subjects each week. Link Here,

Maybe we could talk about the internet this week?

It's all I could come up with as my mind is on hiatus right now.

1. When did the  home internet age enter your life? How much impact has it had?  I think we got our first at home computer with dial-up internet access around 1994 or so.  I had been working with computers for a short time already at work.  Hubby was the one that did all the reading and learning about how to get on to get internet (Remember AOL and dial-up internet access?)  I think it's had a lot of impact on our lives, hopefully mostly for the good.

2. How powerful an influence is your phone?  For instance, do you feel guilty not answering when you are busy? Do you text back immediately? Does the phone own you? Do you friends feel they should be able to monopolize your time by demanding to know where you were when you didn't answer?  Is it intrusive or welcome? I usually try to answer or if I'm busy, I will shoot them a text and tell them I'll call back a little later.  I mostly only get calls from my girls and my sister.  Most anyone else just sends a text.

3. What places do you frequent on the net and by phone or PC etc.?  (pc.. personal computer , laptop, etc.) My blog, FB, Instagram, Amazon and YouTube.

4.   Wikipedia is editable and biased  because anyone can edit the articles. Algorithms also determine what you can and cannot find on the interest.     So, how much stock do you place in it's information? I know to take most things with a grain of salt.

That's it for today.  These were fun questions Annie...Looking forward to see what others answered.

  1. Oh yes, Amazon! The ease of online shopping. But shopping does let us exercise! The joy of meeting nice people like you is a plus!

    1. I still go through Walmart and/or Kroger at least once a week, it seems. I do value the people I've met online.

  2. Yep, it's wise to Do Life with little grains of salt. I've an Instagram account that's dormant, mostly because I don't know that much. Last night I was trying to find someone's page, hit the wrong button, and saw my own face on the screen. Abort mission, abort!

  4. Enjoyed reading your answers. I remember us getting our first computer and the dial up setup. Long time ago. I pretty much frequent the same places you do on your phone or computer.

  5. Oh yes, the dial setup. Took ages!

I almost never shop online. Amazon is here just two or three years. But before Covid we didn't need to do much online shopping because the distances here are short. We went on bicycle.
My sons order online regularly, because of their jobs or because they are stuck at home (during the pandemic). It's very convenient.

    Have a nice day!

  7. I'd actually forgotten about "dial up". LOL. Mostly we just used email back then and didn't know much about the web...there wasn't that much to know then. Oh how things have changed over the past 30 years!! Some not so good, but when used correctly it's a good thing, like here we are!!!
