Succinct Description of My Life As I Live It Now

I just received this in an e-mail and wanted to share it with you as it pretty much describes me and my life right now.

Just a line to say I'm living, that I'm not among the dead.
Though I'm getting more forgetful and mixed up in the head.
It is my turn to write you? Or, did I write before?
I think I owe you a letter. but I hate to be a bore,

I'm used to my bifocals: and my new plates fit me fine.
My hearing aid is perfect, but Lord, I miss my mind.
I stand before the fridge at times, and my poor head fills with doubt,
Have I come to put some food away, or did I take some out?

Sometimes when it's dark outside, and my nightcap is on my head,
I ask, "Am I retiring, or just got out of bed?"
Sometimes I can't remember at the bottom of the stairs,
must I go up for something, or did I just come down from there?

I do know that I miss you....sometimes I almost cry.
But, now it is almost mail time, so I must say good-by.
P.S. I'm standing by the mail box with a face so very red.
I didn't mail your letter.....I opened it instead
