If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Here we are entering the last month of the year 2020. 2020!! Every year The Oxford English Dictionary publishing team chooses a word that captures the general mood of the year we're leaving behind, or the one word that will leave a lasting impact on the world at large. This year they needed sixteen words in order to cover the whole enchilada. While two of the other major dictionaries selected pandemic as their word of the year, Oxford came up with a long list including-bushfire, impeachment, acquittal, coronavirus, COVID-19, lockdown, social distancing, reopening, Black Lives Matter, Cancel Culture, BIPOC, mail-in, belarusian, moonshot, net zero (read more about each word here) Of the words listed which ONE would you say should be in the number 1 spot? Which word/phrase on this list would you be happy to never hear again?
I think the word would be either coronavirus or Covid-19 and I would be happy never to hear of either ever again if it meant they were both completely eradicated.

2. What one word from your own list of words describing this year sums up/best reflects your 2020? Tell us why.
My word is Trust, because I am learning to quit worrying and just trust this all to God.  He has not been surprised by anything that has occurred in 2020 and He has it all (including me) in His hands.

3. Do you like peppermint? (it's okay, but not a favorite flavor) Peppermint mocha, a candy cane, peppermint bark, peppermint tea, York Peppermint Pattie, peppermint ice cream...of the peppermint treats listed, which one is your favorite?(Peppermint Pattie definitely)   Will you bake anything featuring peppermint this holiday season? No, I don't think so.

4. Besides Christmas, what do you associate the color red with? (The American Flag) How about the color green? (St. Patrick's Day)

5. Is your tree up? (Yes) Real or artificial? (Artificial) Is your house decorated? (It's a work in progress) Is your shopping done?  Started? Wrapped? (Mostly done and shipped)  On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being Scrooge-like and 10 being Buddy the Elf, how's your Christmas spirit? (I'd say I'm about a 8-9)

6. Insert your own random thought here.
I don't know about you, but I'm really enjoying the Hallmark Christmas movies and also the Pandora Country Christmas Channel a lot.  Been listening to the music since just before Halloween and the movies right after Halloween.

  1. Trust...a great word. Red reminds me of danger and green new birth. I have started shopping.
    Have a great day.

  2. Trust...a great word, my friend. Our shopping is done, and since I am working I only get to watch Hallmark on Saturday evenings (have Sundays off) and Tuesday evenings if I don't fall asleep (have Wed. off). Have a great day friend.

    1. I must admit I sometimes fall asleep while watching them because of being up so early in the morning. But if I stay awake, I really enjoy them. lol

  6. Amen to your answer for #2. I love Hallmark movies and have been watching them too. Such heartwarming stories! It is especially nice this year since many of the holiday festivities won't be held...at least we can see them in the movies.

  7. I haven't watched any Hallmark movies but we've watched several of the traditional Christmas movies so far. And I love the Pandora Christmas stations and have those playing often. But not since Halloween, that's a little too early for me : )

  8. Yes, trust is what we need more of, and faith. I haven't even started my shopping yet...except one gift I ordered for our kids in Maine...fresh oranges shipped to them from Florida. It is a standard gift we send them every year and they appreciate it. I need to send myself some! LOL. Our tree isn't up yet either, but I am hoping to do it this weekend. I have most of the other stuff done now. I think we will all be happy when this nightmare is over. Praying it will be soon. I have been listening to some Christmas music...mostly our church choir Christmas cantata, that I am practicing. It will be different...having to social distance, etc. But we need some music. Merry Christmas!

  9. Love your new background, Cathy! Could've knocked me over with a feather, but I've caught Tom twice now watching the Hallmark channel. Sure beats CNN!

  10. I am a terrible person because I can't stand the Hallmark Christmas movies. Seen one, seen 'em all. I know, I know. I'm probably the only person in the universe that doesn't watch them. Fun questions today!

  11. Yes I am late here. I'd be happy not to hear about Covid again too. I like a peppermint pattie too but haven't had one in a long time. American flag is a great answer. So far I have seen every Hallmark new movie on Saturday and Sundays, movies and mysteries too along with three from Lifetime! I love them.
