If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Thankful Thursday

Last Friday evening we got warnings on our phones that we were in the middle of a tornado warning.  It looked a little dark but really we hadn't noticed anything at all.  I went out front and sat on the porch for a few minutes and could hear the thunder rumbling, but still pretty far away.  However, our town was sounding the warnings and I knew it was time to get back in. Hubby was checking the weather and we decided we should probably get in a safe area (after I had called my sister and made sure they knew what was going on - which they did and were already hunkered down).  We headed into our laundry room which is a center room with no windows and sat in that tiny space with Lucy and talked.

I'm so thankful God protected us and there was no real problem in our local area, although I've been told there were damages in other areas.

I'm thankful for the time I've been reading and enjoying it again.  Sunday night I woke up after about an hour or so of sleep and my mind started racing about all the decisions we need to make about our future. Of course, this means I couldn't sleep.  I tried to stop thinking and did some praying and then I picked up my Kindle and started reading to see if that would help.  As I read, the lady was afraid about some things and she read her Bible and they quoted this verse, "Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You." Psalm 56:3.  I love that God even speaks to me through a fiction book I'm reading.  It was still awhile before I slept, but there was no more worry and fretting.  God is so good and I know He has a plan and He'll let me know what I need to know, when I need to know it.

So, what are you thankful for this week?

Thanks for visiting.

  5. I love when God speaks through an unexpected source. It always kind of catches me by surprise and seems like a bit of a sign that it really is Him speaking. Glad you came through the storms safely and didn't have any problems.

  7. So thankful you were safe in the hollow of God's hand, even if it was in the laundry room...He was there with you. And He'll be with you when you begin this new journey called retirement. I know when I retired we weren't sure how we were going to manage financially. Neither of us had ever been in a job that provided much in the way of retirement benefits for long enough to accrue much. We are so thankful for Social security and pray they don't ever decide to take it away. But God, in His mercy, cares for us one way or the other. He knows our needs and He always always provides. I am sure He will do the same for you. One day at a time. He's already there...

  8. What a clear message from God coming to you through your book. Don't you love when things like that happen? I look for pennies because God first spoke to me through a penny...or maybe that was the first time I heard Him.
Thankful you were safe through the storm. We don't worry about tornadoes in El Paso but when I was a child, we did have sirens and times where we had to hide in the hall in the center of the house. The wind here in far west Texas feels like a tornado often times, though!!
