Bits of This and That

Here are a few things from the past several days.

On Friday, hubby and I went out to lunch at Red Robin and then I ran into a couple of stores.  He was driving, so he'd drop me off at the door and then pick me up when I was finished (best way to shop, I think).  I went in Wal-mart and picked up a couple of things we wanted and then to Lowes so I could get some stakes to keep our outdoor nativity from blowing over.  Then I ran into Aldi's and picked up a couple of things like the low carb bars that help me when I get to craving something sweet.  I've actually lost 16 lbs in the last 6 months and while that's not a lot for 6 months, it's better than gaining and I believe it's a way I'll be able to keep it off in the future.  Friday night we watched a couple Christmas movies.

My brother-in-law made this for us last year
and I added the red Joy sign this year.

On Saturday we went to lunch with hubby's mom and then I went with my sister to purchase some gifts for a couple of  residents at the assisted living place our sister lives at.  Then we watched a couple of Christmas movies (well, I watched one and fell asleep during the other one. lol)  Then I couldn't sleep Saturday night, so I finished the book I've been reading.  It was really good.

Thanks Jennifer for the
recommendation. I will be looking for some
 more of her books.

Sunday we went to church and then came home for some lunch and a nap and then I read some of another book I'm reading and decided to get this post ready for Monday and read some of your posts.  Then back to church for the monthly Hymn Sing Service.  Here's a video of hubby's sermon.

So basically, that is my weekend.  How was yours?  Thanks for visiting.

  3. Wow, I think the weight loss is great! And maintaining it is challenging, but great also. I need to lose about 15 lbs. and seem to have difficulty doing so. I don't feel like I eat that much, and I rarely eat sweets or breads...but somehow my body just won't let go of the weight. We aren't walking as much as we used to and that is a problem we need to correct. The book sounds good, and your nativity is beautiful. We have a similar one, and I am anxious to put it out, but will have to wait until our son comes home this weekend as it is behind too much big stuff in the shed for us to move by ourselves. Plus he will get the tree and all the decorations out for us, so I am just taking my time packing back up the fall decor and getting little things done that I can do without all the boxes of bigger things from the shed. One day at a time. Still don't have much energy. Hope you have a blessed and wonderful week.

  4. Kudos to you for losing 16 pounds! I need to get serious about losing some of this 20 pounds I've gained since Joe died. Comfort eating has become a habit. Joe liked to shop more than me so he would have been inside the stores with me. Have a blessed week ahead! xo
