My Weekend - Movies, Movies!

Hubby and I had a good weekend and unfortunately now it's back to work on Monday morning.  That's really ok as I'm glad to have a job...some do not!

Friday evening after work we came home and ordered a pizza and I decided to put some lights out on our bushes in front of the porch.  Then later that evening we watched our annual viewing of White Christmas.  I love this annual tradition and I crocheted on hubby's blanket.

Saturday we slept in some and then hubby put a roast in the slow cooker. Then went to lunch at Red Robin and did our almost weekly run to Walmart.  I had to pick up another couple strands of lights for out in front of the house.  Then I got a Starbucks on the way home, which I enjoyed immensely.  When we got home I added the extra lights and also added some red berries to the new wreath I bought and hung it out front.  I forgot to take a picture.  I'll get one before the season is over and post it along with some of the other decorations I put up in the house this year.  Saturday night we had a movie marathon of the 3 Santa Clause movies and again I did some crocheting and I also addressed the Christmas cards.

Lights out front - they are much prettier in person

Sunday we went to church and had a good service and then dropped off some items to my sister and picked up some lunch curbside at Cracker Barrel.  We came home and ate and then had a wonderful little Sunday afternoon nap and caught up on our Advent Study as we had missed a couple days. We went back to church that evening and after service we had our church annual business meeting and then went home and caught the 8:00pm Hallmark Christmas movie.

Brought hubby's blanket in from the other room so I could work on it.  Before I started I laid it on the floor and look who made herself right at home almost immediately.

And this is where she ended up while I was actually working on it.  I think hubby is going to have to fight her in order to use his blanket when it's finished.  lol

So all in all, we had a really good weekend.  How was your weekend?

Thankful Thursday

I am so thankful for all of my family.  I know I've said this many times, but I've just been blessed so much by my family.  They are always there in problems and in good times.  Yes, my girls and grandsons live far away, but they are very good about staying in touch.  I'm okay with them living far away because I know they are happy and that makes me very happy.

My hubby is just the best.  He loves me no matter what (and trust me that no matter what can be a doozy sometimes lol). I can be pretty grumpy sometimes, but he just keeps on loving me anyway.  Why is it the person we love the most is the one we can be the grumpiest with?  I really hate that, but it's the truth.  Maybe it's because we feel safe with them and can just be open with what we are feeling at the time.  However, I'm really trying to be nicer and kinder and less grumpy.  On the other hand, if he's grumpy, I love him too.  I guess that's what marriage is, standing with each other through whatever life brings.

My brother and sisters are a blessing too.  They are always there to help if needed and they are just plain fun to be with.  I can't imagine doing this life without them.

I am also very thankful for my daughters' significant others.  They make my girls happy and are good to them.  Plus I really like them too.

So, as you can see I'm thankful for my family and love each one to the moon and back!!

So what are you thankful for?

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Here we are entering the last month of the year 2020. 2020!! Every year The Oxford English Dictionary publishing team chooses a word that captures the general mood of the year we're leaving behind, or the one word that will leave a lasting impact on the world at large. This year they needed sixteen words in order to cover the whole enchilada. While two of the other major dictionaries selected pandemic as their word of the year, Oxford came up with a long list including-bushfire, impeachment, acquittal, coronavirus, COVID-19, lockdown, social distancing, reopening, Black Lives Matter, Cancel Culture, BIPOC, mail-in, belarusian, moonshot, net zero (read more about each word here) Of the words listed which ONE would you say should be in the number 1 spot? Which word/phrase on this list would you be happy to never hear again?
I think the word would be either coronavirus or Covid-19 and I would be happy never to hear of either ever again if it meant they were both completely eradicated.

2. What one word from your own list of words describing this year sums up/best reflects your 2020? Tell us why.
My word is Trust, because I am learning to quit worrying and just trust this all to God.  He has not been surprised by anything that has occurred in 2020 and He has it all (including me) in His hands.

3. Do you like peppermint? (it's okay, but not a favorite flavor) Peppermint mocha, a candy cane, peppermint bark, peppermint tea, York Peppermint Pattie, peppermint ice cream...of the peppermint treats listed, which one is your favorite?(Peppermint Pattie definitely)   Will you bake anything featuring peppermint this holiday season? No, I don't think so.

4. Besides Christmas, what do you associate the color red with? (The American Flag) How about the color green? (St. Patrick's Day)

5. Is your tree up? (Yes) Real or artificial? (Artificial) Is your house decorated? (It's a work in progress) Is your shopping done?  Started? Wrapped? (Mostly done and shipped)  On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being Scrooge-like and 10 being Buddy the Elf, how's your Christmas spirit? (I'd say I'm about a 8-9)

6. Insert your own random thought here.
I don't know about you, but I'm really enjoying the Hallmark Christmas movies and also the Pandora Country Christmas Channel a lot.  Been listening to the music since just before Halloween and the movies right after Halloween.

Photographs

I saw this hawk in the subdivision while out walking the dog last Friday.  He was so beautiful that I had to stop and get a couple pictures.  Hope you enjoy.

As I got closer and almost right under him, he sure was watching me closely.  I don't know if this is the same one I saw back in October, but I sure enjoyed seeing him.

My new door decoration for work.

Hope you're having a great day.
