Tuesday 4 - My Town

Welcome to Tuesday 4 begun by Toni Taddeo and continued in her honor. Go here to link up.

Let's talk about your town this week!

1. Do you like your town? Yes, I do.  Is it a city, town?  It's a city. Can you describe it for us?  Our town is very much rooted in history.  It was first starting to be settled in the 1790's and we have the Golden Lamb which is the oldest continually running inn in the state of Ohio. (at least that's what I've always heard.)  It opened in 1803. We have a population of 20,651 (according to the website) and have 12.9 square miles.   Our main streets in town have really kept the feel of the past times.  We have lots of antique shops, etc and it's just a pretty town.  I don't actually live in the city limits, but I've always lived within 20 minutes or so of town.  Currently I live at the most 5 minutes away.  I really don't want to live anywhere else.  I love it.

I love our Town Hall

2. Are there any special points of interest in your town?  See above about the Golden Lamb, plus we have a Horse Carriage Parade every December that is absolutely beautiful.

Picture from several years ago during the Christmas Festival.  At the night parade they are all lit up and really beautiful.

3.Does your town have parks, restaurants?  Yes, we have several parks and a couple nice restaurants but mostly fast food places.  We are just 30 minutes from Cincinnati and Dayton where you can get most anything to eat, for find most anything to do, such as Kings Island and Water Parks for the summer months.

4. Do you think your town needs changes to make it better and if so what changes would you make?  I would love to see them bring in a couple of really nice sit-down restaurants but otherwise, I pretty much love it the way it is.  Oh and if you want to know, I'm talking about Lebanon, Ohio.

Thanks for visiting.

  2. Oh, all this time I thought you lived in Indiana for some reason! I used to live in Englewood, OHIO, back in the late 1980's. We had a church in Dayton, which is no longer there, "Grace Gospel Alliance". They moved to the suburbs in Englewood after we left there, and then I think it now is a branch of a bigger church, Fairhaven? Anyway, I haven't been back in years but we still communicate with friends from there. Lebanon looks like my kind of small Ohio town. I love Ohio. My hubby went to seminary in Ashland, OH. Thank you for sharing this with us. I honestly did not realize you lived in Ohio!!!

  4. Oh, I'd love to step inside the Golden Lamb and look around! My former husband was born and raised in Dayton. I remember exclaiming when our plane was landing, "Everything looks so green and pretty!"

    1. Dayton is only about 30 minutes away. The Golden Lamb has hosted several Presidents and other famous people over the year. I have only been inside a couple of times. I've never spent the night, but their food is delicious.

  6. Your town sounds perfect. The town Adam and Gabby live in has a really cute main street. It use to be all antique shops and now it is so popular with restaurants. I love it there. My aunt and uncle lived in the same town. They passed away in 2006 and 2008. They would be so happy that Adam and Gabby live there.

  8. You live in the prettiest part of Ohio (in my humble opinion). I am from central Ohio and loved it there but you can't beat the beauty of southern Ohio. I enjoyed your answers!! xo
