If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Tuesday 4 - Times

The Times They are A-Changing

Welcome once again to Tuesday4 in memory of Toni Taddeo...Click here to link up.

Lets discuss the times we live in.

1. What changes are you grateful for? I'm very grateful for the internet and technology.  If not for that I would not be able to talk with my girls and grandson "face-to-face" as we live so far apart.  How have things changed  in your life time?  A great example is my work.  When I started 45 years ago we used a manual typewriter and everything had a physical file...today everything is computerized and most files are digital and must easier to use and search.  That's just one thing.

2. Did your parents have things better than you today?  I'd say we're about equal.  They had a good life and so do we.

3. What time period would you rather live in.. or are you okay with today?  I want to live in the time period we are currently in.  I believe I was made to be here now and have no desire to go back in time.   Now, forward into the future....maybe?

4. What changes would you make for our time to make it nicer/better to live in?  I would only wish that we would be kinder to each other and give each other more grace.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day!

Cathy

  1. Oh back in the day, I worked at an insurance agency, and if you made one mistake on those insurance cards with your fancy electric typewriter, you had better start over. I also took some Legal Secretary training back then, same thing, no mistakes on legal documents, you had to start over...then the word processors came into being, then of course computers changed everything...I'm glad to live in these days too, where we can connect so easily. Back in the day, we called long distance on a Saturday morning, or in the evening, when the rates were lower, and we sent pictures in the mail...

    1. Exactly. Life was good back then, but I think technology, if used well, has made things even better. Thanks for visiting.

  3. I remember using a manual typewriter at my first job! And how I resisted the first computer! If memory serves, I think I told my boss I'd just as soon throw it out the window. LOL!

  6. I really like your answers today. I was drawing a blank on each question so I decided to not play today. Hope your day is going well.

  9. Yes, technology has made things much easier for us, I agree. But I tend to sometimes wish I'd lived in the horse and buggy days, except for having to use chamber pots and outhouses! LOL. Of course, I would want to be wealthy enough to have "help" in the house with the hard stuff. (I read too many old novels LOL). But when it comes to typing vs. computer, yes, so glad for the computer. However, I don't like the intrusion into our privacy that it has created. There are pros and cons to all time periods.

    1. Yes, you are right, there are pros and cons to each. So I just figure God knew best when He placed me here and now.

  10. I agree with all your answers, Cathy! Just thinking about what you said about your job. By Christmas of my senior year of high school I already knew I was going to college as a journalism major and all I wanted for Christmas was an electric typewriter. I got a "portable" one. I think it still weighed a good 30 pounds! Gosh, but I loved that thing. Oh, but you are so right...how much easier it is to fix a mistake now than back when we had to drag out the White-out and then wait for it to dry. A dictionary was always at my elbow, too.

    1. Yep, dictionaries were invaluable and so was white-out.

  11. Technology has definitely changed the way we do things at work. I still love 'hard copies' though and am not sure I'll ever be able to go completely electronic! Yes, yes, yes to #4.

    1. Hard copies are easier for me tom, especially when it comes to proof reading.
