Bits of This and That

Good Morning:

It's another Monday, the start of a brand new week and that makes me happy. We had another nice weekend.  On Friday, we took Lucy to the groomers (she was in dire need) and we knew it would be about 3 hours.  So we picked up some Chipotle for lunch and went to church.  Hubby recorded his Sunday morning sermon for YouTube and FB.  I did some things in my office which I enjoyed.  After we picked up Lucy and took her home, we took a drive to Dayton.  I was asked to come to Dayton's Children's Hospital to be with a friend who was there with her 6 month old baby.  She needed sleep, but wanted to hold her baby and they didn't want her to sleep holding him unless someone could be with her and make sure they were safe.  So hubby drove me up there so I would know the route I needed to take and it made it so much easier for me on Saturday when I had to go by myself.  After that we came home and had a quiet evening at home.

On Saturday, I headed to the hospital around noon and stayed with her until almost 5:00pm.  It was so good to catch up as we haven't seen much of each other in the past years.  This is the girl that was fostered in the same home as my girls.  She and her 2 sisters were adopted by these foster parents and we adopted our 2 girls and we always kept the girls in touch with each other when they were young and this girl and my oldest are the best of friends today (even though one is in Ohio with her family and the other is in Florida).  My daughter texted me on Thursday and said mom, you need to contact her because she needs some help and none of her friends are available.  So I did and hopefully I was a help to her.  She definitely got some pretty good sleep while I was there to watch over them.  The doctors say her 6 month old son has cancer.  They are waiting to hear more and to see what needs to be done.  If you, pray, I would love for you to add your prayers to all of ours for baby John.  I won't post his picture as she is very private about her children and family. But I know she would appreciate your prayers for John and her whole family.

When I got home, hubby had made us dinner and then we had another quiet evening at home.

On Sunday we had church and Sunday School and then Sunday evening we had our monthly Hymn Sing.  Of course, in the afternoon, we both had a nice nap and I read a little.  Below is the recording of the final sermon on the book of Ruth. I have loved this series and if you are interested, I've posted all 8 of them on the Bits of This and That posts or you can go directly to YouTube, if you'd prefer.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great day.

  2. Oh that dear precious child and his mother. Yes, I will be keeping them in my prayers. Thank you for doing what you did for her. That is such a blessing, and I am certain she appreciated it so much. So very difficult to have an infant child with cancer. I know what it is like to have an adult child with cancer, but we were so thankful we were able to have him for 41 years before God called him home. I pray they will be able to treat this dear child and that he will be healed in the name of Jesus. (((hugs))). God is able. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  3. Oh Cathy! I was happily reading along and marveling at what a great friend you are ... and then read of baby John's diagnosis. Stopped to pray, and am adding he and his family to our ladies group prayer chain tonight.

  5. Love those answers for Tuesday4. I am always so grateful I was able to come over and do this blog hop. You have a busy life. We will certainly pray for Baby John and his mom too. I always appreciate prayer. Can not seem to shake this allergy and sinus going on with me. The cold weather here, exceptionally cold, I might add, has not been kind to us this year. Usually Colorado weather will change in a minute but this cold and snow is hanging on. Thank you for visiting me and I enjoyed stopping by. Have a blessed week and take care.

  6. Oh, what a gift you were able to be there and give the momma some a break. I work with an organization that cares for critically and chronically ill kids, so I know your prescense was much appreciated during this hard time. Praying this sweet baby gets some good care.
