Wednesday Hodgepodge

1.  Question day this week lands on Cinco de Mayo. Are/were tacos on your Tuesday night menu? Hard shell, soft shell or just gimme all the tacos? Are you even a fan of Mexican food? Do you like your salsa mild, spicy, or somewhere in between? Margaritas-Frozen, on the rocks, or no thank you? Have you ever been to Mexico?
Not because of Cinco de Mayo, but we did have breakfast burrito from McDonald’s. Does that count?  I like both hard and soft shells. Yes, I love Mexican food.  I like my salsa mild.  No to margaritas (although they do look good, but I don't do alcohol).  No, I have never been to Mexico.

2. What's something you may do this month?
Buy some hanging baskets for my front porch (I've already hung the hummingbird feeder for the summer) and also plan to buy a new shepherd's hook for my bird feeder and maybe a bird bath.

3. Tell us what's happening in your state or town as far as restaurants/salons/parks/beaches/businesses opening up. How do you feel about it? Are you out and about or hunkered down? Do you wear a mask?
So far, nothing much new has opened retail wise but is supposed to soon.  I'm ready for things to open so people can get back to work.  I go to work every day and we use curbside pick-up for food once in a while and will go to stores when needed.  I hadn’t worn a mask until yesterday when I went in for my mammogram.  I usually just try to stay away from people while in stores. I do however, carry a Lysol wipe when going into stores and keep wiping my hands on it whenever I touch anything.

4. Mother nature, everybody and their mother, mom jeans, like mother like daughter, soccer mom, mother hen, mother lode, necessity is the mother of invention, stay-at-home mom...pick one and tell us how it applies to your life right now.
I think my girls might say mother hen.  I still try to remind them of stuff, such as wear suntan lotion, stay safe, etc.  I know they are adults and I try not to mother them to much, but sometimes I just can't help it.  lol

5. April showers bring May flowers...what's blooming in your yard or garden today?
Nothing yet, but I'm hoping to have my flower baskets this week.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Hope you're having a good week.  Thanks for visiting.

A Sentence A Day - April 2020

My April one day at a time.

1 - Wednesday.  Recorded a video of me reading a book to Colton...The Puppy Pals Counting Sheep and his mommy says he loved it.

2 - Thursday.  Hubby and I had a lazy evening watching some NCIS and a live video on FB of hubby's cousin's family singing and just us being together.

3 - Friday.   Worked, then stopped and picked up pizza and enjoyed the evening at home.

4 - Saturday.   Hubby and I went to Wal-mart (social distancing, of course), then picked up lunch from Jersey Mike's and stayed home the rest of the day, reading and watching TV and doing laundry.

5 - Sunday.   Hubby and I went to church (just us there) and he recorded his sermon so it could be put out on the podcast on the church website (https://www.lebanonfcog.org/) and then took lunch to his mom (she opened the garage door and he placed it on the hood of the car and came back to the van, and she stepped out and they talked for a minute), then got McD's for us and home again for reading, TV'ing and some housework.

alone at church
6 - Monday.   Back at work in dispatch and then picking up groceries from the Kroger Click List and I saw some beautiful night skies when out with the dog.

7 - Tuesday.  Spent a lot of the evening reading..finished one book and started another (3rd in the Heart of the Frontier series by Tracie Peterson)

8 - Wednesday.  Of course I worked and then we went home and made some dinner and read some and binge-watched some more NCIS and then the storms came at bedtime and the dog went crazy barking so it was rather a late night for us.

9 - Thursday.  Work and home and not much else to say.

10 - Friday.  Stopped on the way home and brought some dinner home and had a quiet evening at home.

11 - Saturday.  Ran to Kroger, Post Office and picked up some lunch from Chipotle and then had the rest of the day at home and took a good long (for us) walk with Lucy.
I think maybe she's a little pooped. lol
12 - Sunday.  Happy Easter Sunday.  Hubby did his first sermon on FB Live and I think it went really well.

13 - Monday.  Spent most of evening crocheting after work (see the photo on the 15th to see what I was making)

14 - Tuesday.  Another night at home crocheting. (see the 15th)

15 - Wednesday.  Dropped these crochet straps off at my sisters so she could take to her church friend who will be delivering them along with the masks they made to different hospitals and medical facilities in the area and started making some more after work again.

16 - Thursday.  After work we stopped by my mother-in-law's house to help her with her FB because she got hacked, so hubby had to change her password and it was good to see her and talk to her from a safe distance for a short time.

17 - Friday.  Picked up chef salads and a small pizza to share after work & then watched Apollo 13 and realized while we were watching it that this day was the 50th anniversary of them landing back on earth safely.

18 - Saturday.  We ran a few errands and then spent the rest of the day at home.

19 - Sunday.  Hubby did his 2nd live broadcast on FB and I am so proud of him for stepping out of his comfort zone and doing this for his congregation and anyone else who wants to listen.

20 - Monday.  Just had work and then came home and did laundry and worked on face mask straps.

21 - Tuesday.  Same as yesterday.

22 - Wednesday.  Went to work and came home and took a couple walks with the dog because it was a beautiful evening out.

23 - Thursday. Another evening working on the face mask straps and I'm almost finished.

24 - Friday.  Hubby put a beef roast in the slow cooker and it was delicious and I worked on face mask straps.

25 - Saturday. Watched Onward and finished the face mask straps and dropped them off at my sisters.

26 - Sunday.  Went to church with hubby so he could record his live FB broadcast then picked up curbside lunch and spent the day at home working on a jigsaw puzzle.

27 - Monday.  Just work and then home.

28 - Tuesday.  The same as yesterday

29 - Wednesday.  Listening to "The Shack" at work and then home and watched Survivor.

30 - Thursday.  Listening to the end of  "The Shack" and then started "Harry Potter Book 1" at work and then picked up some dinner and another night at home.

Hope you are all doing well.  Thanks for visiting.

A Duck Duck Goose Kinda Weekend

I love the weekends whether quiet or busy, I just really love them.  On Saturday morning hubby and I got up and got out of the house by around 9:30-10:00am.  We ran to the post office and then went to the church for a bit.  We dropped off the mail that we had stopped and picked up and then he had a few things he wanted to do.  I took a few minutes and played the piano, which I haven't really done much of in the past month or two since we haven't had church.

We then went and picked up a sandwich for lunch and ended back up at the church to eat in his office.

After lunch I went out and decided to weed one of the flower beds.  I was working along and as I got close to the end where we have a weeping cherry tree, all of a sudden, something flapped and flew out of there and I got just a glimpse of it's tail end as it flew around the corner.  It looked like a brown duck.  So I walked on down there and lo and behold, there was a nest with 9 eggs (at least that's all I could count in the picture).  So I ran back into the church and got my phone and snapped a couple of pictures and then went back inside.  I wanted mama duck to come back and I figured she wouldn't if I stayed around.  So I'll have to get those weeds another day.

The nest is under this tree

She has the perfect spot (if I hadn't come along  lol)

As we were leaving awhile later (after I took a short nap in his office)  hubby drove by and could see over into the area and there was mama sitting back on the nest.  He grabbed a picture through the window of the van.  We figured she had been traumatized enough for the day.

If you look closely, you can see mama duck there
Sunday morning we went back to church and I checked as we drove by and mama duck was still there and I took another picture or two.

Hubby then recorded his FB Live sermon and we took a drive to Montgomery to find out where the office is for my appointment (mammogram and annual appointment with my surgeon) on Tuesday.  They've built a new office and I needed to know where I was going so I wouldn't stress so bad Tuesday morning.

On the way, we saw these two geese jaywalking in the street.  Fortunately hubby was very observant and was able to stop in plenty of time.  They seemed totally uncaring about they traffic and just sauntered on across the roadway.  lol

Sunday evening I finally finished my Disney Thomas Kinkade Jigsaw Puzzle.  That was fun, but I've had my fill of working a puzzle for awhile.

So that is my weekend in a nut shell, playing Duck Duck Goose.

Hope you had a good weekend!

Friday Fotos

This is pretty much all I found in my photos this week.

Lucy and I on a walk last Saturday

This is a painting my daughter just finished.  Her talent amazes me!  Look her shop up on FB, it's called K's Art Shoppe.

My daughter sent this picture of my silly grandson.  Surfin' in the rain!
Hope you enjoyed my photos for the week.

Thankful Thursday

Click above to link up.

I'm thankful for:

Another day of life - even if it is pretty cool and rainy and grey.  I'm still alive and in good health.

Jesus - how does anyone make it without Him and his salvation?

Family - loving my husband (who is such a giving and caring man), my girls - who are living their life, but still find time to call and check-in with us. My sisters too (who check on us too) and my brother.  I'm so blessed with many extended family (cousins, etc) too.

Church - love our church family and sure am missing them.

Audiobooks - Currently listening to "The Shack" while at work.  I've read and listened to it several times, but am listening to it again.  Listening to a book helps make the day go so much faster.

So what are you thankful for?
