Tuesday 4 - Out West

Out West...

Howdy Partners... welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Today let's talk about  the West.

1. Got some favorite Cowboy or western movies or TV shows you have liked? I loved Gunsmoke and I love John Wayne.

2.  Ever been to a rodeo or horse show of any kind? No, unless you consider the American Red Cross Annual Beach Ride a horse show.  There are many, many beautiful horses there every year.

3. Can you ride a horse or would you like to try? I have ridden as we had a horse for a while when I was in high school.  I learned how to saddle her and how to ride enough not to fall off. She was really old and rather swaybacked and her name was Honeybunch.  As we would head away from the barn out into the field you could get nothing from her but a slow plodding walk, but when she headed back towards the barn, she would go on a dead run.   Loved it.  Probably at this point in my life, I have no real desire to ride again.

4.  How would a vacation on a dude ranch suit you? Nope, not for me.

How would you respond to these questions?  You can answer in the comments or share your own post.  There is a link-up at the top of the page.  Just click on the words Out West... at the top of the page.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a good day.

Bits of This and That

 Good Morning - January 9, 2023

Hubby and I had another nice weekend.  Nothing special to report.  We had a couple good meals out and one of those was lunch with hubby's mom.  She is a lot of fun to be with.  Poor hubby can ever get a word in when she and I are together.  lol

I got the rest of Christmas down and put away and now I'm starting to sort out some of the knick-knacks and stuff that I don't want to put out again.  Probably going to give them to Vietnam Veterans of America.  They'll come right to your house to get anything you give them.  My sister uses them all the time.

I ordered 2 more of the MudLove bracelets and they arrived on Saturday.  They are a little smaller than my Joy one, but I still love them.

I love this reminder that they give me whenever I look at them.
I choose joy because I know I am loved and that gives me hope.

On Sunday morning hubby preached the second sermon in the current series called Unexpected Graces.  It's from the book of Ruth, which by the way is a favorite book of mine.  Here is the pre-recorded sermon that's on YouTube.

I got a short walk in on Saturday, and a bit of a longer walk on Sunday.  It's been a cold but nice weekend and it feels good to have gotten in a little bit of walking.  Better than nothing.  lol

Hope you all had a nice weekend.  Thanks for visiting.

Thankful Thursday

Things I'm thankful for:

**Family Getting Better - My brother-in-law is doing well after being taken to the emergency room in the middle of the night on the Monday after Christmas.  Turned out he had covid and also he was having a gall bladder attack.  They ran all kinds of tests and admitted him.  He had surgery to remove his gall bladder and came home the next day and is recovering.  They had a rough couple of weeks.  It started with my sister having a bad cold and she was starting to get better and then he started getting sick.  Lots of people were praying and both are doing so much better.  She and I actually went to Hobby Lobby and Joann's on Tuesday which was fun.

**Skies - I love looking at the sky.  I took Lucy outside last evening shortly before sunset and I just love the way the sky looked.  Of course, I had to grab a picture. That's our house on the left and there is a big farm behind us. The second picture was just a short time later as we were driving to church.  The clouds just look so heavy and dark, but they are still beautiful.

This picture was taken through the van window.  In the top left corner
it appears I caught a reflection of something. lol

**A Good night's sleep - For the last week or two I haven't been sleeping real well.  I don't know why, but it just seems to be a thing.  However, last night I did pretty good and I'm so glad.

Well that's all for now.  If you'd like to link up with Thankful Thursday, you can click here.

Thanks for visiting (and I'm thankful for each one of you) and I hope you have a great day.

Currently - January 2023

Loving - This bracelet from MudLOVE in the picture below that I bought while we were Myrtle Beach.  I love wearing it almost every day to keep reminding myself to choose joy.  I ordered 2 more today that says hope and the others says loved.  Each bracelet pays for 1 week of clean water though the group Water for Good.

And I also am still loving my coloring/journaling Bible too.

Resolving - I'm resolving to read the 4 gospels in January along with Annie F. Downs. 3 chapters a day is supposed to cover all 4 gospels.

Organizing - I just ordered a new desk for my church office and then I'll use the current folding table I'm using to hold some storage bins so I can get things more organized there.  Right now I have things stacked all over and then I have to move stuff to get to other stuff.  I'm really hoping this will help.  My next step is to organize the guest room/craft room in the house.

Anticipating - the desk I talked about above.  I love getting new things that help make life a little easier and nice.

Eating - Hubby and I both are trying to cut out some of the carbs we've been eating over the holidays.  I lost 15 lbs. before the holidays and I'm mostly maintaining.  But it's time to get back to business, walking, eating better and just taking better care of myself.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a good day.

Bits of This and That

I love starting the year with new calendars.

The new wall calendar for my office.
I love Thomas Kincaide

My new spiral bound calendar/journal

Hubby and I had a nice weekend.  We went to Red Lobster for lunch on Saturday (New Years Eve Day) and then ran to the grocery and came home for the evening.  We watched TV, read some and did 4 loads of laundry.  But at least we went into the new year with laundry all caught up.  lol

On Sunday we went to church and had a good service.  Hubby started a new series called Unexpected Grace and it's on the book of Ruth.  I have so been looking forward to this series as I love the book of Ruth.  Below is a pre-recorded video of that sermon.

After church we stopped and picked up some KFC and enjoyed that and then we both took a nap.  When I woke up I decided to take the dog out for a walk, as we both need to get back to that exercise.  We only walked about 20 minutes, but I'm pleased with that because at least we started.

You can just barely see Lucy in this picture.
I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep, so I finished the book I started a week ago (Alone in the Wilderness) and then started a new one from the Library called Becoming Mrs. Lewis.  I got this on the recommendation of Jennifer from Overflowing with Thankfulness.

So happy New Year to everyone and I hope you have a great day.
