If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.Romans 10:9 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.John 3:16
It's the giving season and people are shopping for presents for people they love. Can we talk a bit about it?
1. Do you enjoy shopping for gifts at the holidays? Sometimes Why or why not? It really depends on what I'm shopping for and how well I know the person I'm buying for. I love buying for children, but adults...not quite so much.
2. Is the price of things putting a damper on buying this year? Not really.
3. Do you shop online or in stores and why do you choose that way to shop? Again, it depends on what I'm shopping for.
4. Which people do you find hard to select gifts for and what do you do when you just have no clue! Adults are the hardest and if nothing really comes to mind, it will be a gift card.

On Friday evening hubby and I picked up his mom and we got a quick bite to eat and then drove around and looked at Christmas lights. It was so fun and something we do a couple of times during the Christmas season.
This picture and the one below are from a display we've been going to see for multiple years. It's interactive and just a lot of fun to see. And yes, this is someone's home in the middle of a subdivision. It's a favorite.
These next 2 are from the same neighborhood and were very beautiful too!
On Saturday we had Olive Garden for lunch (I'm so hooked on their soups this time of year). Then I ran into the grocery and picked up some items and then we were home. I spent the rest of the day doing laundry, napping some, reading, and watching Christmas movies. This is my favorite kind of day!
On Sunday, we went to church and had a great service. Hubby's pre-recorded sermon is posted below. We had put a chuck roast in the crock pot on Saturday night so we had a delicious meal of beef and noodles after church. We also have leftovers and will be having beef and something tonight for dinner.
So, this is about a perfect weekend for us. I hope you had a good one too.
1) In this song, a tall, handsome man asks Taylor Swift to drive away with him to escape the crowds. Where were you headed when you most recently got behind the wheel? It was last evening and we were headed out to view some Christmas lights after picking up hubby's mom to go with us.
2) She sings about memories of a romance that just "follow you around." Is anyone special on your mind this morning? (It doesn't have to be a romantic partner.) My hubby who is just in the other room and I think he is definitely feeling better today.
3) The lyrics reference sunset. Now that it gets dark earlier, do you find yourself watching the sun set more often? Only if I happen to be out with the dog. I watched lots of sunset and sunrise skies last month when on vacation.
4) The video for this song takes place on a movie set. Swift said it was inspired by tales of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton embarking on a love affair while co-starring in Cleopatra. Elizabeth and Richard fell in love in Rome, while this video was filmed outside of Gaborone, Botswana. In your wildest dreams, which of these exotic locales would you rather visit: Rome or Gaborone? Honestly, I have no desire to go to either, but there are lots of places in the USA I'd like to visit.
5) In homage to Elizabeth Taylor, Swift went from blonde to brunette for the video. Do you have an appointment with a stylist between now and year end? No, I don't make appointments any more. I just go to our local Great Clips for my haircuts.
6) Both Taylors (Swift and Elizabeth) often wore the color purple. What color dominates your wardrobe? Blue
7) In the video, Taylor Swift's leading man is Scott Eastwood, son of Clint. Though not as famous as his dad, Scott works steadily and has more than 30 TV and movie credits. Can you think of another second-generation performer who followed his or her parent into show business? I think of Carrie Fisher whose mom was Debbie Reynolds.
8) In 2014, when "Wildest Dreams" topped the charts, Paul McCartney had to reschedule tour dates so he could recover from a bout with the flu. How are you feeling this morning? Any coughs, sneezes, sniffles? Nope, I feel pretty good this morning.
9) Random question: How many different zip codes have you lived in throughout your life? I've lived in 4 different zip codes and all were in less than a 20 mile residence from where I live now.
Today, I'm writing my December Currently Post. It was supposed to be Wednesday, so I'm rather late. But better late than never, right? You can link up with Jennifer here, as she is the hostess. In December, we are talking about what we're currently loving, gifting, wrapping, hoping, and attending this
month.
Loving: I'm loving the new Christmas Tree we bought this year. For the last couple of years, we've only been using a fiber optic tree that stands maybe 2 feet tall and the branches are not strong enough for any ornaments. So this year, I decided I missed my ornaments, so we bought a 4 foot tree and I love it. And I now have my sister's ceramic tree and we still have the fiber optic tree.
Those cords are hidden a little better now. lol
My sister's tree. The snowman wearing bluein the front was made by my mother.
The fiber optic tree is on the left.
Gifting: I have Amazon gift lists for both girls and their hubbies and the grandson. I have no idea what I'm getting, but it will be from those lists.
Wrapping: I won't be doing much wrapping as I'll have them mailed directly to their home and they will then wrap it...without opening it. They plan to do the same for us.
Hoping: That hubby will feel better soon and that we'll stay healthy for the holidays. I'm also hoping that we'll get out soon to see all the Christmas lights in our area. Planning to go tomorrow night with his mom to see some of them. This is an annual tradition with us and we all love it.
Attending this month: I think the girl cousins are all planning to meet up next week for a lunch together. It's been several months since we done this.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful December.
It's 7:20am and my watch says it's 31* outside and it's starting to get light outside. It's rather overcast out this morning and the van windows are frosted over.
I got some of my decorating done this weekend. This is my new wreath on the front door and I'm really pleased with it. But, I can't decide if I have it turned the right way. Any thoughts?
I put out our nativity scene last night after church. I didn't take a picture, but I'll try to remember to do that this week. The tree is up and decorated, although I'm sure I'll move things around and I have a couple more ornaments to put on it. But for the most part it's done. No picture yet.
Yesterday was the first Sunday of Advent. Hubby and I are doing another Advent Study from She Reads Truth called "He Alone Is Worthy" and it started yesterday. There is a woman's version and a man's version. The day's readings are the same but there are other things that are different. Hubby and I do the day's readings together and I think this is the 4th year we've used their Advent Books.
I'm also joining in with a December Scripture Writing Plan on The names and Attributes of God and the Birth of Christ. I found this on Instagram and as I'm intrigued by the names of God and His attributes, I thought this would be good for me.
Our weekend has been pretty quiet. Saturday we went out to lunch to Cheddars. It's the first time hubby has felt like going into a restaurant since we've been home. He's better, but not quite all the way. He did teach Sunday School and did both the morning sermon and Bible Study in the evening service. I've posted the pre-recorded video below.
After church last night we ran through McDonald's and got a sandwich. As we were driving home, we got stopped at a red light and I took this photo of our town's Christmas Tree Park.
I finished a book this weekend and started another and we watched some Christmas movies and all in all, it was a very nice weekend.
So, how was your weekend? I hope it was nice. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great Monday.
Cathy
Oh and I changed my background because someone told me they were unable to open my blog because of the background I used. I don't know if anyone else has had that problem. But this is a blogger background, so I wouldn't think this should be a problem. Let me know if you can't get in and I'll try something else. Thanks.
